Editing User Pages

Unfortunately Pam, you're not supposed to edit a person's User page, that is, their editing accounts. Strictly, it is reserved only to the account it belongs to. ~Alosel~ | (Talk) 11:32, 31 January 2007 (UTC) reply

Dear Editor, Thank you for that information. I apologise if I have caused a problem. However, if Alosel is writing information that is not altogether accurate, what does one do to address it? I am the founder, chair and First Director of Peace Mala and am ,therefore, naturally concerned that information given to the public is as accurate as possible.

I regularly check what Alosel is writing in his pieces on Peace Mala and myself. In general everything is very good and I am really pleased that he is so enthusiastic about the project. However, sometimes the details he has written are not entirely accurate and I have made the necessary changes.

In his own page 'Alosel' he seemed to suggest that he was the only person responsible for making Peace Malas. He does make them and the organisation is very grateful to him for this but he is not the only person involved with mala production.

Alosel also gives the impression that he is solely responsible for the entries on Peace Mala and on myself 'Pam Evans'. I have given him lots of information to help with both entries and have also corrected much of the factual text, punctuation, spelling and grammar. There appears to be no recognition of this.

I will await your advice.

With my thanks, Pam Evans (Founder of Peace Mala www.peacemala.org.uk )

Hello Pam (This is Paul typing) I just meant that on my user page, I just write stuff about myself. I don't wish to make offence, butgenerally, one asks or comment in the "Discussion" area of a User page before adding stuff if you are not the holder of the User page. On my page for example, you added yourself to the area where I said I started the Peace Mala page from scratch. Whilst it is true that you added substantually to it, if everyone were to put that they also helped and contributed to a page, then the list would neverending! So I reverted back to the original line since I did start the page from scratch. I created it, even if at the time there was a little. I also created many other pages, which have since been added to byother members of Wikipedia, but nonetheless, I still revert to the line that I have created it from scratch.
As for the Malas, I just stated that I made Malas. You are right however, th wording was a little off,so thank you, but simply, it's curtious not to make changes to other people's User pages. There are Discussion tabs (at the top) and you can add an entry there.
Also, you should sign off these messages with 4 '~' .
I hope I haven't offended you with the above... ~Alosel~ | (Talk) 22:26, 4 February 2007 (UTC) reply

License tagging for Image:Picture 104.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Picture 104.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 11:06, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Dear Editor,
The photo I uploaded is from the Peace Mala website and with the permission of Keith Griffiths the phototographer who took it a the 2006 Peace Mala Awards for Youth. Peace Mala owns the website and I am it's founder. I'm afraid I'm not all that clever with computer technology and do not quite know how to enter the information you require.

Image copyright problem with Image:Pam 11Jun07.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Pam 11Jun07.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 16:15, 13 August 2007 (UTC) reply

RE: File:PamEvans 11Jun07.jpg

This image was deleted as File:Pam 11Jun07.jpg for lack of source/copyright information and it was re-upped by another user under another name and was again deleted for lack of source information. On December 30 the image was uploaded again, this time with the summary "Author: Keith Griffiths Source: Peace Mala Office Fair use." It does not meet all 10 of the needed criteria found at Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, in particular number 1 - No free equivalent. The image is being used in the Pam Evans article - a biography of a living person - as the "featured" image. As such it would be easy to find a free image to replace this one with.

Per your response to the issue at the Possibly unfree image discussion I would suggest you contact Keith Griffiths and ask they send an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating their ownership of the material and their intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. Once that is on file there should no others issues. Thanks Soundvisions1 ( talk) 08:00, 8 January 2009 (UTC) reply

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Pam Evans, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:11, 27 January 2009 (UTC) reply

Hello. I was called to evaluate a copyright concern in the article referenced above. Specifically, it seems that you may have added a letter sent to you by another individual, here. Copyright to letters is owned by their senders, not their recipient. In order to publish that letter here, we will need to verify the release of that material by its copyright holder. Please see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for the process through which you may verify that permission. An e-mail from Keith Davies to the Wikimedia Foundation should suffice so long as he sends it from an e-mail address that positively identifies him as the Director of Education for Carmarthenshire. If you have questions about that verification procedure, please let me know.
Meanwhile, as the "template" above advises, conflict of interest editing is a matter of some concern to Wikipedia. If you choose to continue editing this article, please be careful to remain within the guidelines for doing so. If you have questions, we have a board specifically for such concerns which can be found at WP:COIN. Thank you. -- Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:25, 27 January 2009 (UTC) reply
