Saif Oraibi

Saif Oraibi ( Arabic: سيف عريبي) is a blooming musician and Saz player in the oriental world. He was born in Iraq. Coming from a well-educated family he was mostly inspired to pursue his dreams of becoming successful by his father Ali Oraibi who have a doctorate in Law. His father is currently a very successful businessman in real estate investing and as an economical lawyer in the Middle East، the owner of Ayadi Group [1]. . Following in his father’s footsteps he pursued the career of becoming a bright lawyer to take over the family business. Saif Oraibi finished his Bachelor in Construction engineering in Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad. Hereafter he moved to different places to avoid conflicts in the turmoil following the American invasion. He settled in Egypt and began his work as a real-estate investor, whilst studying Law in the meantime at Cairo University.

Life In Iraq

Saif Oraibi had a traditional upbringing, He went to work with his father in spare time and see how the world functioned in his presence. Saif left Baghdad in 2004 due to his kidnapping by anarchistic gangs who seized the opportunity to make a living out of kidnappings. His family was able to pay for the expenses of the kidnapping and thus getting him safely out of Baghdad.

Musical Career

Oraibi developed a spiritual desire for Music at the age of 12. He was mostly fascinated by Classical music, like no other boys at his age, he had what local Iraqis would say an “Old Spirit”. He listened to various music from around the world, be it Western, Turkish or Arabic. Saif started pursuing this inner aspiration for music at the age of 25, he went to learn how to play Saz at Arab Oud House [1]. in Cairo for 4 years. He practiced on his Saz every chance, until he got to master the instrument. In 2010 he began working on his first album, which he named Album Gilgamesh 2013 inspired by King Gilgamesh the king of the ancient Mesopotamia.

The album was received with huge success, selling in over 95 countries worldwide, as Virgin Megastores, iTunes [1], Amazon, etc. Following his success on his début album he opened a music distributional company named Maqam Company for Music Production. He distributed music for various musical giants in the Arab world such as Naseer Shamma, Hazem Shaheen, Mohamed Mohsen, Shady Al-gendy and various other artists.

Contemporary Work

In 2013 Saif took over Bedaya studio in Nasr City, Cairo he redecorated and renamed it OneTake- Studio [1]. Saif believes in a concept by recording in “one take” to reach perfection and to make the musician use all of his resources to master the piece in one take. This is to create the illusion of a one shot opportunity for the musician, so as to achieve maximal determination.
