Due to an unfortunate software misfeature, if you wish to extend a user's block, it is necessary to unblock and then re-block, otherwise the user will regain write-access at the end of the shortest active block. If you look in the Special:Ipblocklist for the user's name, and any expiration times appear, then the block is not permanant, and needs to be reset, as was the case with Objectman ( talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). While thinking I was reverting an error, it came to my attention that you had moved Mahou Sentai Magiranger to Mahō Sentai Majirenjā to fit with the WP:MoS-JA ways of article naming. While I realize that this is important, is this really how the two are transliterated to each other through Hepburn romanicization (especially, because the Japanese-English spelling of Majirenjā is Magiranger [the way it is written in the Roman alphabet by the Japanese])?. Just a notice that I think it might not be entirely appropriate that this article is in Japan-related deletions. The only thing Japanese about it is the fact that a Japanese runner made the initial version, that the last two versions of the run were created with large contributions from Japanese runners, and that the game itself was Japanese up until the last version (which was made using the American version of the game). Thanks for uploading Image:Kazuo Oka promo photo.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{ GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{ Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Did you see "Princess MONONOKE"? I recommend it,because It is described in detail.especially,Forest and old steel maker(japanese old Steel maker is "tatara-basyu:タタラ場集"or tatara-syu"タタラ集"."タタラ" is steelworks and not kanji because "タタラ" is very old Japanese).Japanse old steel maker is really hated by farmer.becuse steel works damage the environment heavily.A large amount of trees are consumed and the river is made dirty.accordingly for example,The ironworks had at one's own expense held the festival for the farmer every half year.and the steel maker's chief swear that We would not make steel without permission before the altar.Do you understand how steel makes hated by farmer? steel make are hard work but They were rich as the serious illness patient was able to be supported at that time(about 4~500 years ago) really. finally the protagonist says "Live both" to person's representative(steel makers) and the representative of nature(Princess MONONOKE).-- Forestfarmer 09:38, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
I find it disconcerting that as people are starting ot talk about finally moving toward a solution on a long-disputed page, a person on one side of the debate would without discussion protect the page in the version which just happens to match their POV. That just does not look like working together for a better tomorrow... Bridesmill 16:51, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
I understnd this, and I acknowledge the point made about your other lock by Tortfeasor, but you have to admit, that this page was moving forward for the first time in months, with the Korean position accepting a compromise other than their assistance on a redirect; which IMHO was a significant compromise and show of good faith.and then after months of silence the Japan POV says 'that's not acceptable' in a big huff and very quickly locks tha page down - facts and potivations may be different, but you must admit that the perception it leaves is not one of trying to move forward for a better tomorrow. looks like we have consensus on east sea & sea of japan pages, please implement the discussion results. thanks. Appleby 14:39, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
nihonjoe, thanks for your patience & efforts on these articles. however, i'm very concerned about doing a "poll" as a final resolution to these disputes, as if numerical superiority trumps reasoned debate.
as you know, Wikipedia:Consensus pretty strongly discourages voting, and for good reasons amply demonstrated recently. i fear that mere numerical roll-call of opinions will only encourage various accounts to fill up a list, especially on these topics. consensus doesn't mean majoritarian rule, but rather a reasonable discussion of policy, sources, & content. if you look at the talk page, this is just what has happened, miraculously enough; several long-term contributors, even mediating wikipedians, have discussed and negotiated at length, and have reached agreement on the wording.
i realize that this is asking for a lot of your time, & i did see your "busy" notice, but i just want to avoid the risk of going back to square one with mob rule, after so much hard work by many editors. thanks again for your attention. Appleby 18:35, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
It appears romanized in the manga (always as "High School! Kimengumi"), in several insert illustrations. I can try to get a scan later, if further evidence is wanted. I have the recent bunkoban, I don't know if these were present in the original volumes. Alcy 08:06, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for locking all those problem sites, it seems to have helped because the serious editors are creating consensus. However, an ongoing problem is at Japan. We have certain users pushing a point of view, and I'm not saying it is only on one side. But the fact is that certain users keep blanking cited information. Numerous citations have been provided in the archives and are referenced in the actual article. To make the article a neutral point of view these blanked areas should be in the article. I don't want to ask you to intervene if that will damage your credibility or your neutrality but trying to get consensus with these editors is not working and telling them what Wikipedia policy doesnt seem to work. No other editor seems to care. I'm not sure what else to do. Your opinion would be great. Tortfeasor 18:11, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Youki Kudoh is her official trade name.
See http://www.movies.co.jp/sayuri/main/main.html - Go to cast, and you will see "Youki Kudoh"
According to the MOS - Youki Kudoh goes before the macronized form.
I might mention that she romanizes "Yuu" as "You" as in the English word "You" - It's not standard at all, but, it's how Ms. Kudoh chooses to do it, and how she's credited in the movie credits. WhisperToMe 20:14, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

I've added an outside opinion. I don't think the article will be POV if any of the current proposals is implemented. It's gone through phases of that in the past, as various editors have added POV language, and it will likely turn into a POV fork of Sea of Japan naming dispute if it is not carefully monitored once unprotected, but I am reasonably hopeful that after all that discussion it will be maintained as a sensible, NPOV disambiguation page. The key thing is to ensure that no descriptive prose is permitted, and I think all the editors who were arguing for that have conceded the point.
I must say I don't envy you in your heroic efforts to keep all these contentious articles NPOV. (Hmm, how long before I'm accused of being your sockpuppet...? ;) — Haeleth Talk 18:28, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

I was wondering if you could clear-up some questions I have about Japanese image copyright law. I understand that Japan's law is Life+50. However, what if the authorship of a particular image (such as Image:Slayers.jpg) can't be determined? As you're aware, Japanese newspapers rarely publish the names of the photographers or journalists responsible for articles and pictures in their publications (although I understand this has been changing lately). In this case, is the law publication+50? Also, it's difficult to tag Japanese images with the appropriate license status since there isn't a license template for Japan on Wikipedia like there is for other countries. What license tag should I use for Japanese images that are public domain under Japanese copyright law? Thank you. Cla68 14:39, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Items are usually in the relevant place, not rigidly by time, e.g. under a particular comment there can be a sub-thread of discussion going on, while text underneath, and not in the sub-thread, carries an earlier date stamp.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 23:14, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
I am the person that nominated your Kunio Okawara for deletion and I ended up changing my mind. Now Aurora-con, an anime convention in Alaska has been nominated for deletion. Thought you might want to support keeping articles in this new area of anime. KarenAnn 18:20, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi. I know that you already tried to do a check user on User:Mythologia, User:Junmai, User:Celldea, User:Forestfarmer, etc. and I know it didn't work out. Is there any thing else that can be done? At Tsushima Basin, user Junmai reverted three times and then Mythologia stepped up to the plate. It is pretty obvious that they are sock puppets avoiding the three revert rule. It's just getting pretty frusturating is all. Thanks for being fair. Tortfeasor 09:16, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
I have recleaned all the refferals of the template and of the article itself of the WMT.. while cleaning it up, I noticed that the series Dororo didn't show up on other lists as being a part of the WMT.. why ? More things which I did not find in the article -

His name is officially romanized as Masami Yuki [2] - But I'll leave his real name with macrons. WhisperToMe 04:43, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your efforts to bring some sanity into Dokdo, Sea of Japan, etc. I'm not sure if you've seen that the Japanese side have created a new Takeshima Island article with extreme Japanese POV. I have no idea how to begin untangling this situation, but thought you should at least know it's there. Thanks. -- Reuben 17:18, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

AMAZING waste of manhours! ... the East Sea/Sea of Japan dispute is still rattling on a year later!
I'll be adding the portal to the Wikipedia:Project_shortcuts in a few moments, but I haven't a clue as to whether there are any shortcuts. You were listed as the contact person! Revert or update me as needed. Best regards // Fra nkB 17:51, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi NihonJoe, Thanks for your note on my talk page regarding my successful RfA. *somewhat embarrassed smile* -- Firsfron of Ronchester 21:45, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Nihonjoe, thank you for the barnstar! I'm honoured to be the recipient of the first Barnsensu, not to mention that it's always great to be given awards :P Once again thanks, and happy editing, Tangot a ngo 03:56, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
FYI, I have filed a Wikipedia:CheckUser request on Ttchiem as I suspect that he has been using Wikipedia:Sock puppetry in order to continually restore Image:Japanophile.jpg and Image:Otaku.jpg to their respective articles under multiple accounts in a bid to circumvent the Wikipedia:Three-revert rule and the consensus of other editors that the above-mentioned images are inappropriate for Wikipedia. Feel free to comment at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Ttchiem -- Netsnipe (Talk) 14:52, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Hello, Nihonjoe. I hope you're not too busy for this.
Voting has begun in Sea of Japan, and I have already placed a notice in Wikipedia:Current surveys. Please review the situation there, and place an appropriate notice in the "Japan"-pages and the "Korea"-pages as well. Thank you.-- Endroit 17:36, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
