Joe, I am embarassed, but I can't read Japanese (yet), and need to know who these people are, and if possible, how they relate to Japanese Scouting.
and to find how Emperor Hirohito, Viscount Makoto Saito and General Maresuke Nogi are related to Scouting through the Japanese Wikipedia.
I do so appreciate your help, Chris 02:25, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi Joe, thanks again!Check out
Some of them don't have much more than what you gave me, others have some other things I was able to find myself. Domo arigato! Chris 19:27, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
The other ip listed on his checkuser 4.23.83.100 put back a few of the changes, [ [1]] among them (note the changing "did not take" to "take." He also is changing the names on the Korean article about Sea of Japan (again), even though this issue was settled awhile ago [ [2]].Also, he changed the (correct) tag to one which needs to be resolved, which seems a bit odd [ [3]].He hasn't stepped it up yet besides some incivility/POV pushing from this ip, but I'd appreciate it if you might at least be able to keep your eye on the situation for awhile. This is not a dynamic ip, it's at a healthcare organization, where he has been editing since 2004 (his first edit was to the Sea of Japan naming page). Komdori 14:50, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Hiya,
You look like exactly the person whose skills are required.... the author of otaku is feeling ganged-up on; multiple rvs to his article; once claimed racist attacks (but seems to have deleted that claim); etc etc. Esperanza ja-3 otaku, where are you? Thanks -- Ling.Nut 23:54, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Looking for your opinion:
There are two editors on the Hideyoshi's invasions of Korea page who have "declared war" on changing the name. One user said he'll "change it by any means" [ here] and Wikimachine today said that since it's been three (whole) days he's sick of it and is declaring a revert war [ [4]].He (intentionally or unintentionally) had done some bad google searches and didn't seem to like it when it was pointed out by another user.
Last time, the page needed to be protected because of a war like this. Now, most of the editors who had supported the old name have come around to the consensus (for example, [ here]), but I'm afraid it'll all be undone by the two hold-outs.
What is the best course of action?Wait for their "war" to start?Request pre-emptive protection? The debate has not stagnated--instead, it's quite lively.I'd understand them wanting to move if they weren't getting responses, but their arguments constantly meet with replies.I also feel three days is not much time on their part before openly "declaring war"--something in itself that I feel to be in bad form.Your thoughts are appreciated. — LactoseTI T 03:15, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
As an administrator you have more power on Wikipedia. But I don't think your judgement is fair on the talk page. The discussion was still going on and a sudden comment of "consensus has been reached" was not sufficient enough for removing the tag. The argument was still hot and removing the tag was not timely.
Also, I don't think you are treating Wikimachine and myself fairly. It feels as if you are trying to isolate us just because we don't agree to the name. Also, I don't feel you are treating the article from a neutral view and it seems you agree with the new move. Good friend100 12:41, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
I can see what is going on in the back of the scene & that you favor Japan, but putting that aside, could you explain to me what is not allowed and allowed in terms of changing Hideyoshi's Invasions of Korea to Imjin War?
This is how I view the situation. LactoseTI and other users don't want "Hideyoshi's" gone & constantly evade my arguments. (You should take time to read them) Therefore, all of my time in the discussion are wasted & I don't see them as cooperative. It doesn't matter what they advocate, they should answer my arguments directly, one by one.
If they don't, then they are not being responsive & thus conceding the arguments. That gives me right to change the title to Imjin War. So when I meant revert war, I meant that LactoseTI & others are going to initiate the war by responding with edits, not with words. ( Wikimachine 15:06, 4 September 2006 (UTC))
Hello. I am creating articles on volcanoes of the Kuril Islands. I always announce them at Portal:Russia's newest articles. Should I also announce them at Japan's newest articles ? Thanks. - Darwinek 15:23, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
I think I saw once a list of articles that are in Japanese wikipedia, but haven't made it over here yet.Is there such a list, or was I just imagining?I'd like to start adding some new articles, especially about topics I know a bit about.Such a list would be great to help get started.(I'm asking you since you seem to create an awful lot of articles; I was hoping you got your inspiration from somewhere other than thin air.)— LactoseTI T 12:36, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi there,
Remember that survey wether the Japanese rock article should be re-renamed to J-Rock? Well, since I'm still rather new to Wikipedia, I'd like to take you up on your offer of assistance on this. You see, the suggested time for this and a related discussion is up, both with a pretty clear outcome. Now I'm not sure wether it would (or should) be my place to remove the respective notices, or is an admin going to do that in due time? My initial efforts, which sparked this discussion weren't quite what one would call good practice (I think 132.205.45.148 called it a "cut-and-paste" move), so I'd really like to do this by the book, so to speak.
Thanks for your time :)

Thanks a lot for the translation! You posted your comment in the wrong header of the page on WT:ANIME though, I believe. -- tjstrf 22:08, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Since you're involved in manga/anime and also things in Japan which are not anime/manga-related, I thought I'd get your opinion on the state of the deletion sorting page for Japan. It seems that a majority of the discussions added are for games, manga, or anime. There is already a pointer to the anime/manga deletion sorting page at the top, but it seems to be widely ignored.I'm thinking of either making the sentence bigger or moving it (as an educational step), or alternatively, making a new tag along the lines of "This discussion was re-sorted from the list of Japan-related deletions to the list of Anime and manga-related deletions".What do you think??Am I over-reacting? Hi Nihonjoe:
I was suspicious of User:LactoseTI and User:Komdori's behavior before and a recent edit made it pretty obvious in my eyes of probable sockpuppetry and so I asked for a checkuser request and the checking admin. said it was a "Likely" case of sockpuppetry. Here is what I wrote about them in detail so that I won't repeat it here: [5].I'm sorry that I usually just write to you about administrative things instead of discussing about ways to improve the content of Wikipedia.Any help, as always, is appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Incidentally, I was wondering if you were keeping up with the current discussion on Talk:Japan about whether or not Continental East Asia and its variants were weasel words. Thanks again. Tortfeasor 18:19, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
I nominated several line categories for deletion last night.See my notice @ Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Trains in Japan for details. Now, I notice that you just created another one.Do you think that they are necessary?Between the line articles (which have much more info than just a category listing can have), and the line templates (which also convey a sense of geography within a line), I couldn't convince myself that they were useful; thus, yesterday's CFD. Neier 21:57, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
With reguards to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/LactoseTI.Checkusers have the ease of reporting the conclusion they've reached from examination using the following templates: Confirmed, Likely, Possible, Inconclusive, and Unrelated. They are more or less stacked in the order.Confirmed is stronger than Likely is stronger than Possible, is stronger than Inconclusive is stronger than Unrelated. Also, if it were "it's a possiblity", I'd think {{ Possible}} would've been used, but as to how far Likely is between Confirmed, Possible, and some sort of median point between unrelated and confirmed that's most definately not specified. -- Kevin_b_er 03:24, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

A user that seems to have just opened an account with the name of "Takenaka", has repeatedly changed information on the Dokdo article and then moved the articled to Takeshima, Shimane, without any discussion, consensus, etc. However, the move cannot be reverted for some reason and an admin is needed. Please revert the move back into its former position. Thank you for the help because it is getting increasingly frustrating. Good friend100 03:18, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
Since I saw you fixed the other page, might you be able to do something for Tianchi/Chonji?Unless I'm mistaken, it doesn't matter whose territory a border lake (or anything) is, but matters what is used in English. Google searches, etc. don't seem to agree with the person who changed it, though I have little opinion on the matter.I think they should request a move rather than just doing it so as to get some more informed opinions, but since there was some edits to the redirect page to fix it, it can't be moved back in the interim.— LactoseTI T 13:04, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
Is there a centralized location for reporting POV violations?Or after awhile does it just stray into the vandalism category? You had left a warning on this ip's talk page, and I've left several as well, though I ignore most of the edits and just revert them (especially since it's an IP)--though, in this case, it seems to be very long lasting. Each day this ip goes through and changing things from terms like "modernization" to "exploitation," seems to occasionally deliberately add misinformation, etc.The talk page has POV warning spanning the last couple of years.Looking at his edit history, there are few edits that aren't pushing one thing or another.I left a final warning yesterday, but I don't know to where it most appropriate to move next. — LactoseTI T 15:34, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
No one bothered to mention the checkuser to me (which was what I thought the policy was); I would have weighed in and I think saved everyone a lot of effort if anyone had even bothered to ask.I checked Komdori's page, and he doesn't seem to have been notified, either.According to another user, he was blocked--which, if true, is quite sad.As I posted on another article, "I know that he's not a sock of me--I know him personally, in fact--we are both faculty at the same university, but we're not even in the same department. Before you all scream "meat puppetry," take a look at the definition--I didn't ask him to join in for my sake, we have independent edit tracks and different interests, don't always agree, and neither are single purpose accounts. If it's true that he's blocked for being a "sock" of me, it's sad.I recently saw the checkuser--it would have been nice if someone had bothered to notify us that it was even underway. If I'm not mistaken, there was never any confirmation--I'm not sure how there could be."
I might add that we are really more casual aquaintances than friends; not much more than sharing coffee or a chat on the phone once in awhile--it's not like we even share a computer.I'm certain that we aren't the only two "real-life" friends that share independent contributions.I'm not sure what we can do at this point, if anything.Your opinion and advice is, as always, appreciated. — LactoseTI T 19:26, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Please read Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages). As the city of Osaka is the primary topic, meaning it's at Osaka without "(disambiguation)", it should be mentioned in the first line per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#Linking to a primary topic. And then, as Ayumu Kasuga is known as Osaka, according to the article, her name should be disamgiguated, along with the Osaka prefecture, which is also often simply called Osaka. Finally, rest of the entries are just things that contain Osaka in thier name so they should be listed in the "see also" section per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#The "See also" section. These are the reasons of my edits. -- Kusunose 16:12, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

While in Keio University, my father was a Staff Writer for the Asahi Press. He was involved in the making of the "Modern Colloquialisms". He would not accept (or the rest of the Staff Writers in the board) including Dr. Edward Seidensticker (who is, as you know, the Japanese-English translator of Genji Monogatari).
I believe that you have incorrectly translated the word Sudoku. The word Su refers to number (the part in which you have correctly translated). The word Doku has two meanings- independent, one, single unit (your translation) and reading (my fathers translation). My father would recommend the phrase "suuji wo yomu". Please reconsider your translation. If you wish to refute my point, say so on my talk page. Sr13 06:11, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
