Hi, I am more or less through with editing and adding references to the page Indian Institute of Rural Management and just need about 2 more independent sources to validate their course programs. Since am at it for the first time, I was wondering if you would have to time to go through the page as it stands now and provide feedback as to the direction of work. I hope am not troubling you too much with this and please feel free to refuse. Thanks in advance, regards, Tycheana ( talk) 09:42, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
Hi, Nick. I was wondering if you could help me with something? I've been trying to figure this out on my own by reading the manual of style, but I'm not sure I'm quite understanding what I should do in this specific situation. I started a draft for a disambiguation page at Draft:Martinis (disambiguation). According to WP:MOS#NAMELIST, this page shouldn't include names. Is there enough notable people with this last name (I could find four) to justify a seperate page with Martinis (surname)? If so, what should I do about the two music-related articles listed in the draft? I'm worried that maybe this page isn't as useful as I thought it might be about a half hour ago. In October 2020, I consulted you about the notability of a biography, which would be my first article, after 5 years of editing. (Belated thanks for the Christmas gift of WP:TWAS, it was a low time for me, being separated from my family because of COVID. Your poem cheered me and the original reminded me of happy times in the past.)
Nick, I'm finally (?!) ready to publish Draft:Nigel Bonner. Bare bones, concerning the later part of his career, but can add more, later. I think I would prefer to move directly to Mainspace, per your previous comments. At the time, you mentioned DYK. I only have 7 days from publication, so I have included DYK samples on the talkpage, if you have a look. (Should I remove prior to publication?)
PatLurcock very kindly contacted me, because they published List of recipients of the Polar Medal, (great work!) and wanted a blue link to "BONNER, William Nigel"...so, it's time to publish so that others can add and improve, etc. Goodness knows, it's not perfect. Criticism, suggestions, etc., will be appreciated. Thanks so much for your initial encouragement! Best wishes, Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 02:26, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

"Any user may nominate a DYK suggestion; self-nominations are encouraged."But for someone to see a clear and obvious attempt by an article creator to draft DYK hooks prior to getting their article into mainspace and for that someone then to immediately nip in and use it themselves to create a DYK nomination template is poor form in my book. I did not accuse you of breaking any rules or policies, or of bad faith editing. Just unsportsmanlike behaviour on this occasion. But I hope you will continue to contribute to DYK, though perhaps with somewhat greater consideration for the intentions, feelings and work of article creators when it's pretty darned obvious they're genuinely working on a DYK themselves. If you weren't sure, you could simply have asked or encouraged them to self-nominate. Regards, Nick Moyes ( talk) 22:57, 9 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello Nick. Maybe you will recall a couple of conversations we had about this submission of the Chinese conglomerate, Draft:Shiji Group. You handed me some great advice back in November of 2020, and I set out, as time allowed, to refine the submission according to suggestions by the community. Ultimately, User:Nomadicghumakkad was kind enough to push me farther along toward making the submission better. Per your suggestion I toned down the creative writing, and I searched high and low for better and more references.
Right now, I guess the page is in limbo over views as to what is, and is not credible coverage of such an entity. The problem is, these companies are not so interesting for mainstream media. Since I write for several of them, especially technology media, I know there are not too many journalists ready to slice and dice Shiji, or any other such company. I know you are so busy, but could you please offer advice/help here?

Happy to abandon my username and ability to edit. Haven't got enough time to learn all the Wiki ins and outs. Want to know how to get info to a sensible editor to unscramble confusion about the Speyside Way official website which is at https://www.speysideway.co.uk but I do have a connection with that site so it shouldn't be me, I now realise.
However it is indeed the official website and the .org one featured in your entry is a plausible-looking ripoff site (long history but plenty of independent verification is available). What is best way forward please? ≈≈≈≈ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Speysideway ( talk • contribs) 17:14, 21 November 2021 (UTC)
Edit requested: please amend (or ask a suitable editor to amend) https://www.speysideway.org to read https://www.speysideway.co.uk and if possible also amend the logo to match the one used on the true official site
Is it uncontroversial? Probably not - the site https://www.speysideway.org has for many years passed itself off as official and this was easy to do, given that the official (Moray Council-backed and National Park-backed) website was very dated and difficult for Council employees to update. The rogue site looked plausible and appeared more updated so it rose up the rankings easily.
Is the request necessary? In my view yes, because (at effectively cost price) I have helped Moray Council to develop the new, responsive and updatable website, therefore I'd see a conflict of interest if editing it myself (but I've only just learned the first stages of the Wiki protocol, sorry).
Is it sensible? Yes.
Evidence that confirms the official status of the site https://www.speysideway.co.uk can be found at many authoritative websites, e.g. https://www.scotlandsgreattrails.com/trail/speyside-way/ https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/uswalks/speysideway/index.html https://www.ldwa.org.uk/ldp/members/show_path.php?path_name=Speyside+Way and dozens of others, plus a few books that I can pass on refs to, published by various established guidebook publishers.
I do apologise for having accidentally having gone about this in what now appears to have been the wrong way. I'm also struggling with the interface (currently I have 11 Wikipedia windows open and only found out how to respond to you thanks to Tenryuu.
Truly I've no desire to edit Wiki entries, but I would like the Wiki entry on Speyside Way to be more accurate. Please help if you can, many thanks ≈≈≈≈ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Speysideway ( talk • contribs) 18:16, 21 November 2021 (UTC)
Massive thanks for that thorough set of bullets, Nick: clearly you work fast and smart and have impressive credentials. Responses after ::: to make them show:
It looks like you've already fixed the .org.uk to the correct .co.uk address.
The correct website could benefit from a note to explain it is the correct one, or to ring the staff numbers if in doubt. (I note the fake site does not offer valid contact details)
The link from https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/uswalks/speysideway/index.html shows the .org address, but links to the .co.uk address. You could benefit by seeking to get that fixed.
Even worse: https://www.scotlandsgreattrails.com/trail/speyside-way/ links to the 'official' website's at https://www.speysideway.org/public-transport/
the best link to have given me was the link from http://www.moray.gov.uk/moray_services/page_40302.html which confirmed it as valid.
About the logo, I will obtain a better version and try to follow instructions to upload it only to English Wikipedia (not Wikimedia Commons) under a non-free use licence. I did embark on the Wikimedia Commons route but baulked at the rights issue. Once you had told me my username was non-compliant I stopped all editing activity but am I OK to carry on just for this upload?
Just FYI I am a guidebook publisher (Rucksack Readers) with about 40+ guidebooks mainly to long-distance routes in the UK and Ireland (mainly walking, some cyclable). If you'd like to choose any one and send your postal address I'd be delighted to send one as a small thankyou for your help. About COI, I manage the SGT website but it's not-for-profit and the Moray Council contract was paid – after a fashion (extremely low-cost, I offered to do it because so mortified by the awfulness of its predecessor at .co.uk).
Finally I'm guessing you are the same Nick Moyes that did the brilliant peregrine project with Derby Cathedral? If so, you may wish to know that the links that are broadcast by LinkedIn with your entry ( https://www.derby.gov.uk/peregrines and https://www.derby.gov.uk/flora) don't work any more (404), Derby has probably reorganised its website since you set them up. And if you aren't that Nick Moyes then sorry and please ignore me. With all you do for Wiki I'm surprised you have time for consultancy! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Speysideway ( talk • contribs) 10:06, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you again, but I can't get back to a link where you mentioned how and where I should upload the logo which you correctly guessed is not suited to a CC licence and belongs jointly to Moray Council/Rucksack Readers. I am game to have a go, although it would be vastly preferable for me (and conceivably quicker for you than walking me through how to do something that I'll never do again?) if instead I could send you the file somehow? Although small file, it's a scalable vector and we've sorted out giving it a white background and can do a larger one if you need it. Please LMK how to proceed, many thanks.
My intention is to abandon any activity as user speysideway or indeed anything else but perhaps I don't need to actively delete it? ≈≈≈≈ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Speysideway ( talk • contribs) 13:00, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
@ Nick Moyes Hi, I saw that you made an edit in my sandbox, [17]. Thanks for the edit. Could you possibly explain, how you did it. I copied the same template, but it came as normal text. If you find complex advice helpful, you could always think about making another sandbox page just for table advice, and either link to the diff that it was given, or copy/paste the reply into your sandbox page, and split it up into different headings. If you do the latter, strip out the persons signature - or at the very least the date/time stamp, but make an edit summary crediting them when you copy it into your sandbox.Itcouldbepossible ( talk) 11:37, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

But yours came as it should look. What excess thing did you do. I would be glad , if you can teach me the process. Itcouldbepossible ( talk) 04:06, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
