Request,Nomination for removal Khalistan article

Hello Sir I'm nominating this page for deletion because it is written with a point of view , excessive use of unreliable sources.and the title "Khalistan" is wrong for the topic because "Khalistan" does not exist, lack of support from resident Punjabi's and Sikhs in India, but there was a "Movement for Khalistan" and that is the right title for the topic, and i think this whole article "a new name" should be rewritten with the help of people from sikh community "in" India and other Indians, because this topic is related to politics/people of India. We all should understand Khalistan is not a political entity and having a article is not justified, Microsoft Encarta and Britannic encyclopedia don't have an article known as "Khalistan" but they do have articles on the movement that took place decades back, and i think there are also copyright issues involved with this article because big parts of this article are written on other peoples research. Many reliable sources are used to show "one side" of their view on the topic, there are also indications that organisations banned by US and EU are involved in providing their research on the movement.I am a strong supporter to have a stub on this topic , but im afraid that such articles on wikipedia have become mouthpieces for organisation which are known for disrupting peace (assassination of one of india's prime minister, twin bomb blast in New Delhi on the eve of Diwali) in Indian sub continent. India Foreign Relations

Hi Nichalp, I've noticed that my recent edits to foreign relations on the India page were reverted because of understandable reasons. Here's the version of the page With my edits. It just happens that I've done a little bit of research on India's foreign relations recently so may be able to contribute to any section on foreign relations included in the India page. So it would be good if we were clear on what needs to be done so I can start editing. Thanks. Nobleeagle (Talk) 08:19, 25 March 2006 (UTC) reply

I have added two paragraphs worth of information, because the Western Nations take up one paragraph themselves and the others take up one paragraph (approx.). I have not defined good foreign relations in the article, as I don't see where it will fit, but to have good foreign relations is basically the ability to have a political influence in the economy, military (very slightly most of the time) and politics (mostly foreign policy) of another nation. My source for all my info is the Indian Embassy website which has details on India's moves to increase relations with the Middle East. Nobleeagle (Talk) 04:34, 26 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Kolkata peer review

Thanks a lot for your subjective objective and extremely specific review of Kolkata. We shall try to mend the defects you have pointed out. However, I have 2 points to ask:

(1) Why do you always make it sure that "Tourism" is not included? (I have seen you reccomending this before). Is it a Wikipedia rule?

(2) I disagree with you that section "Culture" should not have subsections. There are so many city articles with subsections in "Culture".For example, Canberra ( which is an FA). You will perhaps cite the Indian city format. But in any case, that is not a hard and fast rule! PLease comment and help improve the article. Thanks a lot.

Please Nichalp, I am sorry if I have hurt you. Believe me, the comment was not sarcasm as it seemed to you. I revere you as one of the oldest and most experienced wikipedian. And sorry for another mistake I committed , it was a disgraceful typo: I typed "Subjective" in stead of intended "objective". Hi! "Tourism" and the subsections of Culture have been removed. Also have expanded on cuisine, clothing etc. in culture. However, I had to cross the limit of 5 paragraphs for culture. We shall have to condense the "culture". Need your help in a specific matter. Its difficult for me to re-write the "History", as I'm not well-conversed in this aspect of Kolkata. Can you name any user who can be of help? Thanks.-- Dwaipayanc 18:35, 27 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Hi Nichalp,

A request has been made for Indian Institutes of Technology to be peer-reviewed so that it can achieve a Featured Article status. I have been working on it for the last one week and feel that it is satisfactorily good to start the peer-review process. Please care to have a look at it and give your precious comments. - Ambuj Saxena ( talk) 17:36, 26 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Hi Nichalp, I have requested the article to be peer-reviewed as there are many flaws in it. But I don't know why it was rushed to FA review. I think the correct procedure is first a peer-review and then a FA review. In its present form, its certainly not a FA candidate. Can we close the FA review and concentrate on Peer-review first. - Ambuj Saxena ( talk) 04:28, 27 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Kolkata peer review: plese see second time

Hi! We have tried to follow your recommendations of the first review. Everything you recommended was worked upon - except the lead, as I found it difficult to modify appropriately. The history has been somewhat improved, but not definitely upto the mark.

The civic administration looks better now. Culture has been improved. Other recommendations have been followed. Still, I feel major works have to be done, especially in "History" and "Culture". The size is 42 kb, which is large. I have plans to cut down "culture".

Also there are some repetition dispersed in the article, which can be removed on strict scrutiny. Could you please give it a second look and give some directions to work on? Thank you.-- Dwaipayanc 20:08, 29 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Hi! Could you please tell me where can we find the vehicle codes of Kolkata? Thanks.-- Dwaipayanc 20:36, 30 March 2006 (UTC) reply
Hi! I coud not find out the vehicles info in the net. Will try to find out from the local transport offices. BTW, some copy-edits have been done. The size is hovering around 40-41 Kb. Factual errors (those that I could find out) have been handled. "Culture" was cut down, but again regained some size due to the addition of comments on literature (that was not there previously). I think necessary referencing have been done. Demographics got some new info like the crime-stats, whereas "negative" aspects like strikes, poverty have been touched to some extent. Copy-edits are going on. Could you please point out some major/minor flaws in the article? Thanks.-- Dwaipayanc 14:07, 2 April 2006 (UTC) reply
Advance thanks for your copy-edits. Well, I am not sure whether WB 05 and WB06 are also included. I will try to check it out! Thanks a lot.-- Dwaipayanc 16:12, 2 April 2006 (UTC) reply

Thanks a lot Nichalp. I was really feeling guilty for the careless comments. Thank you. Bye! -- Dwaipayanc 16:43, 27 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Some more questions. What do you think about the "Utility services"? Does it need to be merged with the civic administration? Civic administration would soon be built up in the lines of Mumbai. Thanks.-- Dwaipayanc 18:40, 27 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Change of username

Hi Nichalp,

On Wikipedia:Changing username you wrote that changing my username is not possible. Please take a closer look: There is certainly no User:Voyager around here and no edit has ever been made with that account. This means that a namechange won't cause any problems. Thanks for your patience. -- Voyager_ch 21:54, 26 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Now that I've addressed the concerns listed, I want you to take a look at the article and see if there's anymore suggestions you have. — MESSEDROCKER ( talk) 01:51, 27 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Great that it's been replaced, I'm OK with the deletion of the redundant one. Mysid 06:08, 27 March 2006 (UTC) reply

I am still waiting for the bot approval. Not sure how that process works or how long it will take. I have updated the bot with geo-coords and demographics. Please check the Kodumudi article and comment. Thanks, Ganeshk ( talk) 05:58, 2 April 2006 (UTC) reply
Implemented your new suggestions. You mentioned a line about language. I think it will be wrong to assume that Tamil would be the most spoken in all towns in Tamil Nadu. Census website does not provide this data. Your thoughts? - Ganeshk ( talk) 20:10, 2 April 2006 (UTC) reply

Demographics help

Hi. Have you taken a look at Ahmedabad? Since your drastic (and necessary) step in removing the clutter, I have almost rewritten the entire article and am continuing my work there. But I am stuck with the demographics section as the census does not seem to provide city results. I cannot find details at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation site or the Ahmedabad district collectors site or Gujarat government site. Could you suggest me some good and authentic source for the stats. If you are too busy with your 'crat work then I will ask someone else, but you must have encountered the same problem with the Mumbai page too. - Aksi_gr eat 18:59, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Help at RfA and RfB

Given User:Cecropia's resignation as a bureaucrat, some huge shoes have been left behind to fill. He's been responsible for 50% (234 of 467) of the admin promotions over the last year. You are the second most active bureaucrat in that time frame with 12%. I hope you can step up your activity level at RfA to help cover his departure. All the best, -- Durin 19:44, 1 April 2006 (UTC) reply

Regarding change of user name

Hi Nichalp. In my request for a new user-name, I indicated that I wanted to adopt the new name of User: Questor's View's Northwarden, but did not place the new name in "User:" format. I apologize for the inconvenience! Thank you for your time and understanding.
