Conflict of interest

Your edits to Molex connector appear remove all mention of connectors not manufactured by Molex Incorporated. You also added complete proper names and trademark notations to the connectors mentioned. The Manual of Style discourages use of the ™ and ® symbols.

The article is a about generic nylon pin and socket connectors. Molex's own website mentions that this type of connector is generally known as a "Molex Connector".

1960 – Nylon plugs and receptacles define Molex as an innovator, interconnecting color televisions and other applications. This Molex invention becomes so prevalent that the term "Molex Connector" becomes a generic name for nylon plugs and receptacles. [1]

Your editing style and your user name suggest you are employed by Molex Incorporated. These edits appear to be a conflict of interest. Oni Lukos and Plugwash were correct to revert your changes. -- SWTPC6800 ( talk) 04:47, 8 December 2009 (UTC) reply

Your edits on Molex [2] read like a corporate press release. You have only edited two articles Molex connector and Molex.

This edit [3]from IP 63.87.3.6 matches this one. [4] Whois show the IP is registered to Molex [5]

It appears this is single purpose account by someone related to Molex Incorporated. -- SWTPC6800 ( talk) 04:25, 9 December 2009 (UTC) reply

Username blocked

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. You have violated one or more of our rules, including rules against adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, using Wikipedia for promotion, and editing inappropriately with a conflict of interest. This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia's policies. Although Wikipedia has a great many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals here, you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{ unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

I am writing to appeal the block of my user name. The edits I was making for the Molex Connector page were needed as the information displayed was not correct. I do work for the company Molex and the edits were valid. For example, The image for the PC power supply states that the "Molex 8981 is AKA the AMP mate-n-lok." It is not . The Molex 8981 is a MOLEX 8981 series part number. The image of the "AMP Mate-N-Lok, is a Molex image. And it is tagged as a AMP Mate-N-Lok when it is a Molex 8981 power connector. These changes were needed and accurate. I was not aware that Wikipedia does not allow Trade marks and Registered marks. I do apologize for doing that. Please consider to unblock my user name from being able to make changes. Please call me if you have any questions and I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Decline reason:

This username is inappropriate and will not be unblocked, as explained above, unless you agree to apply for an immediate change of username and also agree to refrain from the problems that led to your block. Using a Wikipedia account to make promotional edits is unacceptable, as explained above. If there are factual inaccuracies in articles relating to your company, then raise this on the talk page of the article in question, as set out in this guidance, rather than edit an article directly when you have an obvious conflict of interest. Re-read "What can I do now?" above if you want to continue editing here under these conditions. Regards, Bencherlite Talk 22:13, 16 December 2009 (UTC) reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{ unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
