I don't quite understand your insistance on slashing the title. The Avatar State is the volatile state of channeling the Spirit, while the Avatar Spirit is the life force experiencing the state. They aren't neccesarily synonymous, because the spirit always exists in Aang, whether he's in the State or not.
The Spirit as a whole always exists within Aang, while the State is defined in the episode as the the brief period of power coming to the fore. For example, Roku himself is not always a manifestation of the State (remember his appearance in front of Jeong Jeong? No defense-mechanism/"glowing it up" there.) but always a manifestation of the Spirit. The Spirit actively experiences the state of being, which is why it can only be killed during it. - Again, I don't really understand your meaning. Aang isn't perpetually in the Avatar State, his eyes aren't glowing all of the time. But the Spirit itself always exists withing Aang and never stops being the Avatar Spirit. Aang can stop being in the State, but he can never stop the Spirit from existing. Referring to the character and the state as though they were the same thing implies that the souls like Roku only exist while Aang is in the state, while Roku himself has appeared to Jeong Jeong when Aang was not, distinctly separating the Spirit from the phase of being "in the state, and illustrating that the 'Spirit is not the State itself."
They are interconnected, as explained, but they aren't the same thing. The State is explained in the article, but keeping in mind that the secondary character page is a page for the spirit as a collective character (not an action or phase of being) it's compositionally incorrect to equate the two, because the terms aren't interchangeable. Sorry, I'm new to this Wikipedia account thing. But I can see what you're trying to say now.
- We are totally cool, I don't mean to come off as cranky. We get so many alterations to this family of pages that I get all anal retentive, cuz this place is a rumor mill and a target for linkspam. (Remember that fake Golden Globe Interview? In my anonymous days, I spent a week trying to disprove it before finally finding out some guy had just posted it to stir up controversy).
Hey, I don't get to the fanboards often. Would you happen to know who leaked Azula's real name? We kept reverting it here because we couldn't find a reference source (a website and/or a person who we can be sure first said it). (We have to do that to avoid disasters like the interview rumor). Clearly some lucky people are privilege to exclusive info, but until we find out, nobody here at wiki can distinguish between real leaked info and garbage posted by fans who wanna drive people crazy or get hits on their site.
Also, if you check the Avatar Talkpage, somebody would like people to formally approve the addition of a new site to the link list (Avatarspirit.net) I have replied, but I want two other Avatar fans who are wiki users to check it over for uniquely useful content and second the nomination (by posting on the talkpage that they'd approve it's addition) before we put it in.
