Hi Tony. Hope all is well. I just handled an edit request regarding Template:First Corsican families in Puerto Rico ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs), and I was wondering if there was some context I'm missing that explains why it needs to be fully protected? At face value a full protection there would seem inconsistent with WP:FPP (and maybe also WP:INVOLVED), but maybe there's something I'm overlooking. Same question for Template:Puerto Rican Nationalist Party ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs). -- Tamzin cetacean needed (she|they|xe) 08:13, 8 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi Tony. Just making sure you saw this. If you have no objection, I'm going to go ahead and unprotect those templates. -- Tamzin cetacean needed (she|they|xe) 03:45, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
  • Hello my friend. Thank you for the message. The reason that the "Template:Puerto Rican Nationalist Party" is protected is that there are some people in Puerto Rico who really hate the Nationalists or those involved with the independence movement. They can mess up the template just for the heck of it and in order to keep this from happening is the main reason it is protected. Once again thank you for asking and I wish you and your loved ones a Happy and blessed New Year. -- Tony the Marine ( talk) 16:31, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the response, Tony. I understand your motivation there. However, I don't think that's really in line with the protection policy. The template has only been vandalized a few times ever, and has had a number of constructive IP edits too. But, as it's on over 50 pages and partly falls into the BLP and American Politics topic areas, I see the case for some level of protection. However, of the four protection options available for templates, you've selected the highest, admin-only. There are only 913 admins, and as far as I can see the template has never been vandalized by a registered account. Could we maybe downgrade this to a semi-protection? -- Tamzin cetacean needed (she|they|xe) 21:26, 14 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi and stuff

Hi Tony the Marine, there's a discussion open now at wt:NRHP in which I don't mention you by name but I allude to you and your series of articles such as List of historic properties in Phoenix.

I hope you can forgive me, and you do seem to be a charitable type so i am hopeful, for how I behaved or came across or both, in an AFD that I opened about one of those articles some years ago. I am not looking it up now, but I believe I was in kind of wp:BATTLEGROUND mode and, relatedly, the AFD proved to be non-constructive. A big thing was, which seems lesser now, was that I had feelings of being besieged and attacked on many fronts (legitimately, because I was besieged and attacked extremely over many many years IMHO), and I was irked by the series you were developing for several reasons, and I kinda lashed out at you or your work. Honestly I am not looking now and don't really want to, about whatever I said or how I said it, but I do recall feeling, and still do feel, remorseful about how I approached it.

I also don't recall if the "thank" button was available or whether I used it, in response to your kind comment and !vote regarding an essay that I had written, at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:ITSACASTLE (the MFD for which was one example of what I experienced as attacks, and in fact within that MFD I commented about what I perceived as bullying from the deletion nominator). So I was in the middle of being hyped up about being bullied, and arguably also I had (perhaps recently?) been kind of bullying towards you and your edits, and I received your comment which was neutral and simple. In context, I received it as indeed quite kind, and it has stuck with me as pointing out something fundamental i think.

Anyhow, all that said, I do still not quite like your series of list-articles on historic properties in TOWN OR CITY. I like them, they are well-written and seem good for readers, but I also dislike their function and relationship to the nation-wide system that I and others have invested a lot in setting up. The general topic comes up again with respect to another editor in another area of the country, though, and I wonder if I/we/you could possibly use this new discussion to come to any better understanding or solve anything. You could choose to speak up, or not, mentioning or not your articles in Arizona. Either way, I hope you are well. BTW, I hope to get to PR someday to see some of the NRHP-listed places I've written about there, and I rather expect i'll be through Arizona again during the next year or so. I am pretty sure I'd like you a lot, and I hope you would like me, if we ever did meet in person.

cheers, --Doncram ( talk, contribs) 04:37, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for your message my friend! First of all I would like to wish you a belated Happy New Year. I do understand what you have written and let me tell you that those who bully you should be reprimanded. No body, especially here, has the right to bully another editor. That is not right at all. I know that all you do you do in good faith. I hope that we can meet someday in the future. You take care. Tony the Marine ( talk) 20:19, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

You are free to edit the content of User:Marine 69-71/sandbox during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. It really isn't a good idea to try to get around the proposed deletion of your sandbox by copying it to another user page. Here's the deal.

Either you stop using Wikipedia to host this material, [2] or be prepared explain to ArbCom why you should not be desysopped. You have clearly and unambiguously misused your admin tools to facilitate your misuse of Wikipedia user space. AndyTheGrump ( talk) 21:40, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

To add to above, by misuse of admin tools, I of course refer to your block here: [3] The IP self evidently wasn't interfering with an article you were working on. It wasn't an article, it was your own fancruft. An unnecessarily harsh block, made with no prior warning, by an involved admin who shouldn't have been using the page in the manner it was being used in the first place. Followed up, I note, by what looks very much like the further abuse of admin tools to apply inappropriate protection to the page you had been misusing. ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{ NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 00:21, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

List of Puerto Ricans

You should not remove maintenance templates if any of the following apply: #2. The issue has not yet been resolved - per WP:WNTRMT. More citations are needed for that article per WP:VERIFY and 392,768b is too long per WP:LENGTH. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 00:31, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

The names on the list were verified for their notability in 201 9by a group dedicated to such a task. Since then,
this list has been carefully maintained. Adding or deleting a name without first discussing the change on the article's talk page is likely to be reverted. This list should contain the names of persons who meet the pre-established Notability criteria, even if the person does not have an article yet. Additions to the list must be listed in the section which best describes the field for which the person is most notable and in alphabetical order by surname. Each addition to the list must also provide a reliable verifiable source which cites the person's notability or the person's link to Puerto Rico, otherwise the name will be removed.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User talk:Marine 69-71/Archive 49 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Marine 69-71/sandbox. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. And just in case you didn't get the message, any further defiance of Wikipedia rules and consensus over this is going straight to ArbCom. You are clearly entirely unsuited to be an administrator, and seem to be treating Wikipedia as your own personal plaything. AndyTheGrump ( talk) 03:48, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

I must admit to confusion and displeasure with this, too. Under ordinary circumstances, I'd have revdelled the recreation (and have blocked before for similar behavior, for users without unrelated contribs); that'd be pointless with you since you could still see the content.
Do you really not have a local computer you can work on your fanfic on instead of hosting it on Wikipedia? — Cryptic 05:28, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
Exactly. I am very dissapointed here as well, as the original nom for that MfD in the first place. Administrators should be fully aware of WP:NOTWEBHOST imho. Plus [5] [6] [7] are inapproprate uses of rollback and this page is another gross violation of WP:NOTWEBHOST. If any of this continues you may risk getting referred to ArbCom and getting desysoped or blocked. #prodraxis connect 13:29, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
