I hope the code below is correct, I can't edit pages due to an IP block, presumably as someone else using my ISP was a vandal... MJ3600 ( talk) 16:43, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I appreciate you two looking into it. I've meant to register with Wikipedia for a long time but never got round to it until a month or so back when I tried to edit a page and found the block (due to expire in November). I thought I'd wait till then, but checked the other day and found the block extended until December. I therefore registered a Wikipedia account from a different internet connection to see if this would allow me to edit articles without the block taking affect, but I see it doesn't. Thanks for looking into it. MJ3600 ( talk) 19:33, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Block message:
{{ Checkuserblock}}<!--repeat vandal, no other significant traffic on this range, ask checkuser before granting IPBE-->
I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.
Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.
Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.
I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Thatcher 15:42, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Thank you to everyone who looked into the IP block affecting me, especially Thatcher who resolved the problem, and was able to answer all my questions. MJ3600 ( talk) 20:31, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
