From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi. Between the name you've chosen to edit under, and the nature of your edits, I fear you may be in violation of wikipedia's rules regarding conflicts of interest (COI). I've alerted editors more COI-savvy than I am, on the Conflict of Interest Noticeboard. If I'm wrong, I apologize. Please let the relevant editors know why I might be wrong, here. Thanks, and happy editing. David in DC ( talk) 02:15, 30 November 2011 (UTC) reply

Thank you for reverting your edits. Please stick around. I'm betting you'd make a fine wiki-editor. David in DC ( talk) 04:39, 30 November 2011 (UTC) reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Lilithmag) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{ unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. -- Ed ( Edgar181) 14:58, 30 November 2011 (UTC) reply

I apologize for not being aware of this policy. I know for a fact that the Jewish Publication Society lists its awards because I updated their list when I was an employee there. All of Lilith's awards are based on facts, not simply for self-promotion (hence why citations were added). The magazine lists itself as an award winning magazine, so the awards list was simply there to back up claims. I have edited other pages before, but when I couldn't remember my original user name, I created one simply for editing Lilith's account, which was my mistake for not knowing this could cause a problem. I am not an employee of Lilith, just a social media consultant to various organizations. I did my own independent research to identify the awards won by Lilith. I hope this corrects this issue and I will be able to restore the edits under the username jmf306, which I will use for any future Wikipedia edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmf306 ( talkcontribs) 15:08, 30 November 2011 (UTC) reply
