Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

I'm sorry. I actually just did the walk-through for how to upload an article. I did the walkthrough so that I wouldn't end up blocked, or end up with weird looking pages. Wiki has it's own markup language that I've never encountered before. It doesn't help that I don't know how to do html. But somehow I managed just that. I'm really sorry. I just assumed this page was meant to describe me.I just wanted to sound like a knowledgeable person and so detailed what I did for a living. Can I please be unblocked. I will not promote my website ever again. I really did so quite unknowingly. I am a writer and have been doing it for a while. crickey it's actually a little difficult for me now not to mention the name of things. But I am trying. Truly. I would like to make useful contributions to wiki. All day long I write how to's and helpful articles on how organize some aspect of your life. I thought perhaps I could add some useful pages here on topics that I am knowledgeable but missing or unfinished in Wiki.
It makes sense to block people who are here just to promote their website. I am not one of them. I am only here to add content and perhaps add to the realm of knowledge on the internet. I worked at a librarian for years in college and I suppose I fell in love with research and helping people. It's the strangest thing but research comes naturally to me, but not others. It's a nerdy gift but I'll take it.
I hope you read this and unblock me, or you can converse further with me and hopefully I can convince you of it. I'm not the most socially apt human but I try to be a good human. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I really appreciate it.}}

- Before you could be considered for unblocking, is it possible for you to give some examples of the kinds of articles you would edit or create? Your explanation above was vague on that subject! If you could give examples of what you would be able to contribute (what topics you are knowledgeable about) then that could help us to make a decision on the unblock request. Oh thank goodness. I just read this bottom bit. Gosh I am a total novice.I'm really going to take my time to learn how to edit correctly. In fact I think I will go through the tutorial again. I have thoroughly learned my lesson about that one. Right! Which topics would I like to edit and add to? Cutting boards - this is a huge topic that I would really like to expand on, Artificial flower - how to clean them, Christmas decoration - how to clean and store. Elizabeth Berg - I would add citations and references. Alice Hoffman's novel - Here on Earth (novel) I would add citations and references. After those I would like to attempt to write an article but I wouldn't write an article without learning how to edit first. Turtle Moon (novel) by Alice Hoffman - I would like to write the article for this subject.
Sorry, I didn't make any links here to the internal wiki pages that I'm referring to above. I felt nervous about adding a string of links. I also read that it's a good idea to bring up the topic for debate in my talk page for any new articles that I propose to write. I would hate to have written anything that would be declared nonsense by other members/editors. I am very open to learning and of course taking on board any advice.
