Would you be able to modify the indexerbot code so that the default sort (based on discussion title) puts items with leading quotation marks in the sort by the letters/numbers which follow? I'm not sure if that's something you can set in the bot, or if it's a part of how wikitables operate and you rely on their sort, but you can see an example of where this change could be useful at Talk:Autism/Archive index. Thanks!

The HBC Archive Indexerbot doesn't seem to be generating User talk:Chzz/Archive Index any more (since early March), but I don't think the code has changed. Do you know what the problem is? Thanks, Chzz ► 08:56, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Hey just noticed that the bot hasn't index my talk page since Feb is there a fix to this or is the bot down.-- Steam Iron 21:55, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Any idea why the bot has created
Talk:Muammar Gaddafi/Archive index with duplicate links to sections which were once on Archive #4? I tried wiping the page and starting over, but the bot just recreated the page.

Greetings, Krellis. The archive indexing of Talk:Gun laws in the United States (by state) seems to have stopped working. I think this happened a few months ago. Based on other comments I'm seeing here, I'm guessing that the page has some kind of outdated or incorrect parameter in the HBC Archive Indexbot opt in template. I'd be grateful if you could fix the template so that the indexing works again. — Mudwater ( Talk) 13:22, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi Krellis, I'm sorry to request a refresh of a cache *again*, but could you clear the bots cache of the index at Talk:Atheism? I've just moved some 2008/2009 text from Talk:Atheism/Archive 1 to its proper location at Talk:Atheism/Archive 40, and removed some duplicate threads at the latter archive. Thanks! Hello. I'm not sure what the bot is doing to my index, but it isn't indexing everything. In fact, it seems to be removing things half of the time. How can I get this fixed? Regards, Matthewedwards : Chat 00:08, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi Krellis. Your very useful AIV Helperbot performed the following edit, which appears to be in error: [1]. This remove two reports, including mine which had not been addressed either way. I believe the intention of the edit was only to remove the other report (that's certainly what the edit summary suggests). Might want to take a look at this? THanks, Palltrast ( talk) 05:04, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi Krellis, would it be possible for your indexing bot to support alphabetical archives, like
Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive A? They're used on the village pumps and
User talk:Jimbo Wales to accommodate old archives, where the page labelled "Archive 1" does not in fact contain the earliest discussions, and it'd be too fiddly to move the archives around. They're listed by using the {{
Archive list alpha}}
template. I know that the mask parameters can currently be used for this purpose, but it'd be more convenient if the bot recognised the lettered archives automatically.

Hi, at WP:AIV HBC AIV helperbot3 seems to be commenting but not removing actioned reports. TerriersFan ( talk) 16:27, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi Krellis, Jimbo's archive index hasn't been updated since early June. diff
On the Long pages report, scroll all the way to the very bottom and you can see that his archive index is the 3rd largest page on WP at just over 2 Megabytes. Might that be the problem? The file size?
The problem isn't widespread as the only other archive indices on the list include:
Since size may become more prominent in the index files, would it be possible to have the index pages limited to 500K in size and then have multiple index pages? Is this feasible? Cheers,

Hi. Sorry to bother you with this.
The bot doesn't seem to want to index Talk:As the World Turns/Archive index. It's probably something I stuffed up, but I can't see any errors, and I copied an existing working setup.
When I first set it up, it indexed a couple of times, but I reverted it because I was still "stuffing around" with the page. Could those reversions have "confused" it, and it now needs resetting in some way?
I checked the bot logs, which list the page, but say "No change" - so I made a minor change to the only archive to see if that would trigger it - no joy.
Certainly no rush for any answer, and I apologise in advance for what is almost certain to turn out to be my stupid error here. Thanks. Begoon talk 12:47, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
Hello there! Can you please take a look at my talk page? I don't know if anything went wrong, but the bot is not archiving since last December. Thanks.-- Jetstreamer ( talk) 00:05, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
I can't see any obvious reason why, except possibly several revisions have been revdel'd. It did make two edits (22:52 10 December 2011 and 13:12 24 November 2011) to the index which have nothing to do with any changes to my talk or archive pages. The last "correct" edit to the index was on 00:38 7 November 2011.
Could you take a look at this, please? Many thanks, -- NSH001 ( talk) 19:52, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi, the bot indexed Talk:Chalkboard here Talk:Chalkboard/Archive_index; however, it has a few issues:
The duplicate links I've seen in other pages; these are links to threads that are in both archives and the main talk page, even if the thread itself isn't at the main talk page anymore.
The links to archive 5 are the bigger problem; the story here is that when the talk page archive was first created, it was placed at Talk:Chalkboard/Archive 5 due to a misconfigured bot; however I moved it to Talk:Chalkboard/Archive 1 (before the indexer bot ran); but somehow the indexing bot *still* thinks these threads are at archive 5. Any ideas on how to fix this? -- KarlB ( talk) 13:04, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

This is not necessarily a request for a change, but after getting lost trying to find some things, I have an opinion about archiving bots: They should never ever leave less than the most recent 20 sections. Too many people set automatic archiving to 15 days and 1 section minimum on fast paced articles, and as soon as they slow down it leaves their talk pages essentially useless for anyone who hasn't watchlisted the article or isn't checking their watchlist fast enough. There is never any real reason to have fewer than the most recent 20 talk page sections, so I think that should be the hard minimum, enforced by the bot code itself. Is that a radical opinion? I don't know, but I am sharing it with you to do with as you wish. EllenCT ( talk) 20:44, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
I was wondering with the Indexing bot, how would I do it, if I already have a Bot already auto archiving my talkpage. As I want to create an Archive Index. So could you tell me how I would go about doing that? Thanks. -- Clarkcj12 ( talk) 18:59, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
