Possible death

Hey Jkaharper sorry to disturb you but i was checking to see if Willem van der Oord celebrated his 100th birthday this year and i came across a Geni page for him although i'm not sure how accurate Geni is really so i was wondering if you could take a look and see what you think. https://www.geni.com/people/Wim-van-der-Oord/6000000049328537852. -- ThatBaileyLad ( talk) 19:27, 2 October 2019 (UTC) reply

Hi ThatBaileyLad, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I found a newspaper listing from 1985 with his death notice and have attached it to the page! If you find more possible leads then please feel free to leave them here for me. Cheers! -- Jkaharper ( talk) 20:03, 2 October 2019 (UTC) reply
Hi thank you for looking him up and yeah i had a feeling he'd died quite young thanks again. -- ThatBaileyLad ( talk) 23:52, 2 October 2019 (UTC) reply

Split Waterman

Can you point out where on the Speedway Star home page, the date of death is specified? All I can see is "Obituary: Split Waterman" in the list of contents. Thanks. -- Michig ( talk) 11:18, 16 October 2019 (UTC) reply

Hi Michig, thanks for the message. It is mentioned inside but you have to subscribe if you want to see it for your own eyes. Because speedyway isn't exactly mainstream, you may be waiting forever for an obituary online. I could upload an electronic image of the page if you'd like though I'm unsure if this would violate copyright infringement. It is not common practice that we do this for any other sources behind a pay wall, for example The Times, The NY Times, Who's Who, Debretts etc. but rather a common courtesy of trust in long-contributing users. Nonetheless, if you are unsatisfied, I can upload something to the Commons when I get time. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks -- Jkaharper ( talk) 11:36, 16 October 2019 (UTC) reply
I was under the impression that the magazine isn't available until tomorrow? The digital version certainly isn't. -- Michig ( talk) 11:55, 16 October 2019 (UTC) reply
