Kodaline

Hello!

Can you please stop removing blocks of text and things from Kodaline with reasons like "Fixed an inaccurate fact"? Why shouldn't be there? It's pretty clear from a quick google that the band used to be called 21 Demands etc, see The Irish Times. Unless you can provide evidence that it shouldn't be there (and there's more evidence that it should be there), you're engaging in edit warring and can be blocked for this. Thanks! Reedy ( talk) 12:15, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply

I am in the band, by our own admission, tyre of the guys were in a band called 21 demands but we made a conscious decision to start a different band when we started Kodaline, they are related but not the same. If you feel 21 demands should be in wiki, it should have its own page as it was a different group. I keep changing inaccurate facts about the band as I am the bass player an quite an authority on what is true. Someone keeps editing the page to include a session player as a band member which causes confusion when we do interviews and the research has used inaccurate information from our Wikipedia Jaykodaline ( talk) 12:28, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply

Sorry if this is COI but it has a huge effect on how interviews are conducted with us and we spend half the time clearing up inaccurate information Jaykodaline ( talk) 12:40, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply

I've removed the bit about the session player, as it's just more confusing to have it appearing like shroedingers band member. I'll see if I can work out who is adding it (will look later), and deal with that as appropriate. As per the COI guidelines, you should have a look at Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest#General_COI in the first instance. Unfortunately, in most cases "I know this to be true" without any 3rd party evidence isn't really allowed here, we call it original research.
It's pretty difficult to say that a band with the same members that ceased and reformed is any different from a band that renamed itself. There's probably better ways to reword this, to make it clearer. It's not helped by sources like The Irish Times saying "having changed their name" etc, it makes claims like this harder to refute. Though, it does also say "and their music"... So maybe if we can work out a way to prove this (I haven't listened to your music from back then), we might be able to find a way to split/segregate things in a more acceptable way Reedy ( talk) 13:09, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply

Thank you Reedy, the music from back then was an indie band similar to the strokes and we make folk pop music so it is quite a big difference:-) Jaykodaline ( talk) 13:13, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply

Looks like it was just by an anonymous IP. I'll keep an eye on it. I see on Kodaline discography, 21 Demands work is not mentioned in detail, so that's a discrepency. Looking at Wikipedia:Notability_(music)#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles, and specifically the point "Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart", because of "On 3 March 2007, 21 Demands released their own single called "Give Me a Minute" through digital7 downloads on the RTÉ website. They made chart history when their single topped the Irish Singles Chart, becoming the first independently released track to achieve this milestone.", which is well referenced... So in theory, it should be enough to stand up, as a seperate stub type article. Lets see about moving that section out and finding a new home for it... Reedy ( talk) 23:22, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply
