Hi, I have made a proposal that no peer review request be archived without some response. To aid in this, there is a new list of PR requests at least one week old that have had no repsonses beyond a semi-automated peer review. This list is at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog.
There are just over 100 names on the PR volunteers page, so I figure if each of these volunteers reviewed just one or two PR requests without a response from the list each month, it would easily take care of the "no response" backlog (as there have been 2 or 3 such unanswered requests a day on average).
If you would be able to help out with a review or two a month from the "no responses" backlog list that would be great (and much appreciated). Please discuss questions, comments, or ideas at the PR talk page and thanks in advance for your help, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:00, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Lara, re the ANI thread here, would it be possible for you get some more admin eyes on it, perhaps with a post on an admin channel or something like that? I know you are not familiar with the backstory (and I only have limited knowledge) but from what I understand it was quite serious (WP:OFFICE may have been involved but I'm not sure). You can also see this earlier ANI thread and note some of the comments in the second DM thread made by RTFA (that user also seems only interested in the subject in question, so I don't know what's going on there either) for further background.
Basically this is a complex issue which warrants prompt attention. I'm quite certain at the least that there is sockpuppetry going on, but given that there have been harassment problems in the past we should be proactive about this. Sorry to pester you about it, but you're the only admin who dropped by! If you want to send me an e-mail about this feel free.-- Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 01:47, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey,
Thought I'd drop by to say I've sorted out some issues in the whole "real world" mess, and I'll be around again a whole heap more. So hopefully I'll be able to participate in various projects on here again and we'll likely cross paths I imagine.
Also, congratulations on Adminship. Pity I missed out on participating in the RfA, but I'm really glad. Pursey Talk | Contribs 13:50, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I have absolutely no problem with it being marked for deletion. Please do. -- Evan ¤ Seeds 06:26, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Yo, I trawled through pages of google hits for Devo Keenan looking for reliable sources to no avail. I don't think the article will progress beyond a stub, let alone garner an interesting hook before the weekend. If you happen across a transcription or anything in the meantime, drop a comment and I'll do the donkeywork, but right now it's not looking too good. Regards, скоморохъ 13:17, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm tapping this message out to you because you were involved at the AfDs of Eve Carson or Lauren Burk. Lara, take a look at this deletion log from 00:37 back to 00:00. Now, I came really late to the party, really late, but I started going through DFUI images and picking out the ones that were d-u-hh simple to FUR-ize. I did maybe twelve, then Maxim cut the ground out from under my feet based on "has there been an edit since BC" [1]. I'd estimate that I was at about a 50% salvage level, 10-15 minutes per item to either fix it or bail out, and I'm an amateur.
Now this has nothing to do with Maxim, Maxim just used a script to execute a task that had a pre-defined cutoff date with a time-extension, if no-one's responded to an NFCC10c warning by such-and-such, delete it. And it has nothing to do with BetaCommand either, BC is a skilled programmer, he's eager to bring his skills to bear for the service of Wikipedia, and he can code up a defined task and run it very efficiently.
But what are the results? Going just by the numbers I saw and my estimated success percentage, I'd say 500-750 images were excised because even though the Image page showed where they were used, usually in a single article, no-one put an article link in the image page itsel and BCB put a di-fur template there because of that. And what will the results be? People will come across the redlink in articles and naturally just excise that too. And the wonderful thing is that in a week or two this will all be invisible! It will all be consigned to history and admin-only access.
Now I don't place any blame on you, or Beta or Maxim, or anyone else who's automatically tagged or deleted images, I do blame myself a little because I should have been on this much earlier. I watched too long instead of pitching in. What I see though is destruction on a massive scale, you could even call it state-sponsored vandalism.
What I see here is a massive failure on the part of Wiki as a whole, we had a mandated deadline for FU and reacted unintelligently. We've avoided or driven away lots of possibly problematic editors, see this example and my wordy attempt at a response. We've deleted many thousands of images. Everyone has done what they were mandated to do. Is the encyclopedia better today? Is there some process broken that we can fix for the future?

:::... leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind. Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable. So let the light touch you and let the words spill through. Just let them pass right through bringing out our hope and reason. -- Maynard James Keenan (on Wikipedia?)
Again, I've been asking what this deadline means, and no-one has been able to answer me. Do images magically get deleted after this deadline? If so, you (and anyone else reading) need to answer one simple question: Can you reliable say which images should be deleted and which ones shouldn't be deleted. If you can't answer that, then the deadline is meaningless, other than as a deadline to show what progress, if any, has been made. Is there a requirement to go to the Foundation and say "we've done this much work, was that good enough?" I haven't seen that proposed or discussed explicitly anywhere? Just saying "there is a deadline" doesn't mean anything unless there has been a discussion of what the deadline means and how things change in practice (not in theory) after the deadline. Oh, and its refactor, not refractor. :-) Carcharoth ( talk) 14:25, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
