When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. — Ian Manka Talk to me! 15:32, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Sure you can help! Just add your name to the participants list. Also, read the converstion here. -- GeorgeMoney T· C 19:28, 20 May 2006 (UTC) ![]() After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! -- AmiDaniel ( talk) 02:32, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I just noticed this edit, where you seem to be asking me a question. I'd say that, yes, everyone should really try to be civil. I think people shouldn't post threaded arguments in RfC outside views. I think users shouldn't have messy signatures. But the only thing I was really trying to communicate was that I didn't think that Ral315 was being at all incivil. The reason that we get wound up about WP:CIVIL is because creating a hostile agressive environment gets in the way of collaboratively editing together. It shouldn't ever be used as a shield against all criticism of actual edits. We are trying to build an encyclopedia, and we do need to be able to say "That edit is just not good". Correspondingly, Ral315 really should be able to say "That signature is messy" -- that isn't hostility. It isn't incivil of someone to tell him he's wrong about it, but it is a little weird to slap his wrist for potentially making someone feel bad. Jkelly 23:35, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
