In case anyone wants to contact me, this is to let you know that my PC has been hit with a virus and I can't use it just now. This note is via a friend's machine.-- Guanche Lady ( talk) 09:38, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia, Guanche Lady! I am Vassyana and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{ helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{ helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! I was amazed, when logging onto Wikpedia today, to see that I had a message. Thank you so much for the offer of help - I will certainly be taking you up on this sometime, once I have read the pages that you suggested (and eaten the cookies). I really am very low tech (I plead my age, 60, but I think that it is more that I lack patience...) so it will take me some time to get editing properly. However, Wikipedia is just the most wonderful project on the web and I want to do whatever I can to support it.
I was going to leave a message on your talk page, but was daunted by the enormous amount on it, so I'll put help-me at the bottom of this message.
By the way, I have a Spanish keyboard (I live in the Canary Islands) and this doesn't have a separate tilde symbol! It is a nuisance, as increasingly websites are using the tilde. However, the buttons on the editing page have a Signature one, so I hope that this will do just as well?
AH-HA! Just before saving this note, I have discovered that if I change the language on my laptop it enables me to use a tilde as long as I know where it is on an English layout keyboard! (Look at an old machine.) There! There ARE brains working in this antique yet! -- Guanche Lady ( talk) 13:23, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
