Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! -- Graham ☺ | Talk 22:48, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. UTC is the modern name for Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Eastern time is five hours behind UTC this time of year, and four hours behind in summer. A useful link worth bookmarking is current local times around the world. When editing, just put a string of four tildes (~) to sign and the timestamp is automatically included. Hi. You've helped with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Wiki Syntax, so I thought it worth alerting you to the latest and greatest of Wikipedia fixing project, User:Yann/Untagged Images, which is seeking to put copyright tags on all of the untagged images. There are probably, oh, thirty thousand or so to do (he said, reaching into the air for a large figure). But hey: they're images ... you'll get to see lots of random pretty pictures. That must be better than looking for at at and the the, non? You know you'll love it. best wishes -- Tagishsimon (talk)
You wrote: "Accordingly, 'all original material contributed to Wikipedia is deemed to be free content under the GNU Free Documentation License, meaning that it may be freely used, freely edited, freely copied and freely redistributed subject to the restrictions of that license.'"
Yeah, well that...sucks, doesn't it? Many other sites have banners and such and they essentially make money from reposting others' hard-earned info. Personally, I feel that the laxity of the GNU licensing system is what keeps Wikipedia from gaining a more authoritative status. If, at least, there was differentiation between freely contributing and taking wholesale articles, Wikipedia would gain a higher status as a reference work. *shrug* But it all seems to be "all or nothing" in the crazy, crazy world of open-source. ;) NeoThe1 02:29, Dec 30, 2004 (UTC)
You were kind enough to contribute to the Wikipedia:Untagged images project; I beg to draw your attention to part 2 of the project - there are about 12,000 more images in need of tagging. Any assistance you could provide would be most welcome. thanks -- Tagishsimon (talk)
Thanks for you entry at talk:407 ETR about Automatic number plate recognition. Because you linked to the ANPR article I found out about the 407 ETR (using "What links here" in the toolbox) – that gave me scope to make a great addition to the ANPR article that I created and have been working on for the last few days. I'd just dried up on ideas of how to expand it, so thanks for that! violet/riga (t) 22:23, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. Thank you for your recent application to use AutoWikiBrowser. I have approved your request and you should now be able to use the AWB application. Be sure to check every edit before you save it, and don't forget to check out the AWB Guide. You can get any help you need over on the AWB talk page. Feel free to contact me with any questions, Alphachimp 02:27, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
I noticed you have been replacing written-out 10-scale ratings (eg "(9/10)") with the star template, but from what I remember the last time this was brought up on the WikiProject Albums talk page there were a number of people opposed to this, and nobody really in favor, so I was wondering if I missed some newer discussion about this...? -- Fritz S. Another editor has added the "{{ prod}}" template to the article Pinecrest Public School, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{ prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I have nominated Pocketwatch (album), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pocketwatch (album). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
