Information icon Hello, I'm Pythoncoder. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, Arsenal F.C. supporters, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Request reason:

My attempt to add my personal knowledge of two actors' football allegiances, based on seeing both of them supporting the same football club as me, on numerous occasions over the course of years, in the pubs around the part of London all three of us come from, has been misconstrued as "vandalism". I ask for this decision to be reversed, because whilst I understand that there is no Internet published verification of Mr Benson or Ms Taylforth being Arsenal fans, both of these excellent actors have both been on UK TV since the 1970s, and are nationally recognised faces, but I have discussed Arsenal with both without even really mentioning anyone's occupation, mine or theirs, we talked as fellow Gooners, it takes one to know one, or in this case two. Also I checked my entry listing Nigel Mansell as an Arsenal fan, I don't, however have anything more than a memory of Mr Mansell saying he was a Gooner on TV, but having a world champion in any sport that happens to support the same team as you tends to fix things in ones memory, however I searched for verification of Nigel Mansell being Arsenal, and found reference that he used to "like Manchester United and Aston Villa", that cast doubt on my entry, so I removed it. No attempt to vandalise Wikipedia was made, just a genuine attempt to share personal experience, and add knowledge I have of two famous people that share a 'hometown' and a love of Arsenal with myself. I hope that you see that the reason I edited the page was out of a passion for Arsenal FC and nothing else. Thank you for your time. GoonerNut. GoonerNut ( talk) 17:43, 19 April 2018 (UTC) reply

Looking at the edits you made, they appear to coincide with your explanation and don't appear to be blatant vandalism. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and unblock your account. Please make sure that you cite sources that are reliable with your changes so that you don't get yourself into any more hot water :-) ~Oshwah~ (talk) (contribs) 17:48, 19 April 2018 (UTC) reply

Oshwah. Thank you for your decision, wilco on verification and reliability, seems the mk1 eyeball don't quite cut the mustard round these parts, will get links for next go, or maybe just stick to typos! One thing though, and not sour grapes, I'm not the first to think that Govvy may not be the best person to be making decisions about the content of pages concerning Arsenal FC as he is a fan of Tottenham Hotspur, our worst rivals. I would not feel able to objectively treat anything about Tottenham, and would not expect objectivity from one of theirs, especially not a "keen" one as Govvy claims to be. It's part of the whole football thing to be partisan towards your own club, no bad towards Govvy but as I mentioned, it has happened before to another editor over Arsenal.

Civility toward other editors

Your edit here is not acceptable. It draws assumptions from Govvy's edits and makes personal attacks toward him by calling him a "Tottenham Hotspur fan" as well as "an Arsenal hater". As an editor, you're expected to collaborate, communicate, and add comments in compliance with Wikipedia's civility policy, to treat other editors with respect, and to refrain from making personal attacks toward other editors. Please do not make any more comments like this toward other editors, and take care to verify that all of your future comments, messages, and responses comply with Wikipedia's policies. Failure to maintain civility with your interactions with other editors can result in being blocked. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to message me and ask them - I'll be happy to answer your questions and help you. Thank you for understanding, and I appreciate your compliance with these policies. ~Oshwah~ (talk) (contribs) 19:04, 19 April 2018 (UTC) reply

I think Govvy would totally agree with both descriptions and be rightly proud of both as he describes himself as a "keen Tottenham fan" and as such would be perfectly ok with being called an "Arsenal hater", ask Govvy or any other football fan we all have deep rivalries, it's part of what makes football so good. It's not just what happens on the park. GoonerNut ( talk) 19:27, 19 April 2018 (UTC) reply

He was not okay with your comment, as he left a message on my user talk page here describing it as a personal attack. ~Oshwah~ (talk) (contribs) 19:36, 19 April 2018 (UTC) reply
It's okay; just avoid making comments like this toward other editors and you'll be fine. "Comment on content, not on editors" is the general rule to stick by. Do that and you won't run into any problems ;-) ~Oshwah~ (talk) (contribs) 19:41, 19 April 2018 (UTC) reply

Ok will do but think Govvy is proving what I say about being an "Arsenal hater" take another look at his civility complaint, he describes me as "that Arsenal fan" do I complain? No, because I am a Gooner and proud to be called one, (and that did start as a derogatory term) and as such I see typical Tottenham, anything to get one over on their superiors. Don't know how to link.

Hi Oshwah. found reputable published sources for the two Arsenal supporting actors (Taylforth and Benson) that I tried to insert earlier. Only problem is I now don't know how to copy the links, or cite sources, don't want same "vandalism" situation to recur, so asking your advice. Sorry to ask such a noob question, but hey.... I'm a noob! GoonerNut ( talk) 22:43, 19 April 2018 (UTC) reply
