Thanks for uploading Image:HenryGreenEngine.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are
open content,
public domain, and
fair use. Find the appropriate template in
Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 18:30, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Done. Gonzerelli
The toolserver report at [1] shows you have uploaded some 28 images that are not tagged correctly. The "permission" you mention from the fan site is bogus, as that person is not the copyright owner and doesn't have any rights to give out that way. However, the images appear to be tv screenshots, and so our tag {{ tv-screenshot}} seems appropriate. Please add that tag to all of your Thomas uploads. Thanks for helping! When proposing speedy deletion of an article, please do not overwrite the article with "SPEEDY DELETION". This can be considered vandalism. Please use the {{ db}} tag, or the other tags found at WP:CSD. Use these tags only if the article actually fulfils one of the criteria at WP:CSD. Thank you. Sandstein 17:23, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi David,
I've attempted to add a page to [Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends] about "come ride the rails..." but it seems that it must not be an appropriate page, or else the content is sub-par. I tried reading the explanations but I couldn't tell if it was considered valdalism or off topic. Thanks for the input. Alexa411 21:06, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
Hello, I've seen your addition to the Series 10 talk page, and although I'm sad to admit it Emily does deserve to remain on the page... she's more likely than some of the other characters that have been put on the page... lol.... I believe the trouble with your edits is down to a user named User:ZacheryWanzer who constantly reverts your edits... I have posted a message on his talk page getting him to reply... however, he's adamant on ignoring this.... I still believe the page should be blocked from IP's, reply to me on the TaF - series 10 talk page... it'll be easier... Foxearth 6/6/06
Hullo, I'm relatively new to the Wikipedia 'editing scene' so I hope you will forgive me if this is in the wrong place. I'm interesting in joining your TtTE editing group, as it is something that interests me, having grown up with. Will also help me learn Wiki editing as I will be writing about something I know a little about!

Hi Gonzerelli. Look at Mavis the Quarry Diesel and you'll see that it has reappeared again.
We've both re-instated the redirect on this page before now, so I think stronger action is called for. I don't really want these pages deleted, if possible, since there are cases where some of the relevant information has NOT been transferred, and it's useful to refer back for clarification. (In Mavis's case, the BR protoype information is not present in the TV Series article - I don't know whether it has been added recently. Sorry, forgot to look!).)
I'm starting to wonder if the reason for all these un-redirects is because the pages for the Railway Series do not exist for these 'minor characters' yet. All the re-directs for Mavis go to the TV series page, which does not cover the books' aspect. Perhaps if the Railway Series aspects were covered somewhere, this would help reduce the problem?
EdJogg 16:20, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi again! Your recent change to Railway engines (Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends)#Oliver, to remove the link to Oliver the Great Western Engine seems to be verging on 'edit war' territory! I have no particular problem with your edit, but I think I can see why it is happening.
If you look at the linked page for Oliver, you will see that the article has a lot of text (actually, of little interest to a fan of The Railway Series! :o)). Hence, there are several users who presumably feel that it is 'the main article', and therefore should be linked-to.
I haven't tackled the link issue, since I think the separate page must be tackled first. WP:THOMAS identified Oliver as a 'Major character', without his own page, but this doesn't seem to have been reflected elsewhere. Even Major characters in The Railway Series - where Oliver and Bill & Ben are the only major (steam engine) characters without a 'Main Article' link - cross-links to Oliver the Great Western Engine, which is primarilly TV Series text.
Hope you can understand my reasoning... EdJogg 09:28, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi, Gonzerelli. Why have you added a comment on my user page which said, "the vast majority of the engines depicted below are not real characters from either series. They appear to be this user's own creations"? Felix Cheng 23:36, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi. Sorry to be a pain, but I'm not convinced that the revised picture layout is an improvement. I haven't gone so far as to revert your change (yet), as I decided to comment here first.
HonestTom's layout effectively 'tabulated' the information without the need for a table, and I thought he had done a good job. Changing the images to left-anchored has removed all the bullet points from the first few lines of information, and has 'undone' the tabulation for these titles - it is no longer possible to scan down the page for a title and immediately see the date/illustrator/story titles.
I'm not sure that there is actually a way round this without simply reverting your changes. Is there really a problem with having all the images on the right?
EdJogg 09:19, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Agreed - the 'stagger' would be a better layout, but I think only if the text were more paragraph-based.
Thinking further about the layout for this article, [is there any way] / [would it be appropriate] to provide more space between the book entries? It would be an easy matter to add an extra blank line before each title, and/or underline the titles, but I'm not sure that either is approved layout.
EdJogg 11:41, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi Gonzerelli. Have I been a valuable, fellow member of WikiProject Thomas? Felix Cheng 23:44, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
None of the articles you've tagged qualify for speedy deletion, and so I've removed them. In their place, I've added {{subst:mergeto|People and animals (Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends)}}. If you see any more articles, I suggest you do the same. Thanks! -- Merope Talk 20:12, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
The images look nice. I guess it is better to have all of the books on one page rather than having them seperately, instead of cluttering up the main space. Also, a lot of images on the list of railway characters did not have copyright tags. I recently added tags to some that didn't have these, however, I think we should find some better images to add to the articles (ones with the 4:3 or 16:9 ratio) to make them look like they came from the TV. With that said, I am glad to be back, and you will definitely find me contributing on a regular basis. -- Imdanumber1 ( Talk | contribs) 18:00, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi. Thanks for removing all that superfluous 'colour' information, etc. I had considered doing so myself, but didn't have time yesterday, and I suspected you might in due course anyway... "Great minds think alike" :o)
Had you planned to do the same on Rolling stock (Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends)? The same issues exist there.
Cheers -- EdJogg 08:05, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Hiya.
Noticed you'd removed Duck from Category:Fictional heroes. (Not a problem, I didn't add that cat.!) Had you noticed that Percy and Thomas are also listed?
This set me wondering. What classifies a character as a hero? If it is a case of Hero vs Villain, then virtually all of the engines qualify as 'heroes'. Alternatively, if the character has performed some 'superhuman feat' (is that possible for a steam engine? :o) ), maybe that is qualification enough. In which case, we must list Duck (preventing runaway trucks crashing, ends up in barber's shop), Edward (catches James when he runs driverless down line), Henry ("Super Rescue"), Duke (when he prevents Falcon/Stuart from crashing down an embankment), Rheneas and Edward (continuing after major motion failure), Lord Harry (rescuing injured mountaineer on Culdee Fell), etc, etc. These are just some examples from memory -- I'm sure there are many more.
Writing this has made me realise that The Railway Stories article makes no (apparent) mention of the moral tone of the books, yet these examples clearly show the characters going 'beyond the call of duty', and might be appropriate to highlight in such a section. (I'm not the person to write it, neither, as I've always been hopeless at literary character analysis!)
Any thoughts?

Hi. Just a heads-up to say that I've applied some minor changes to the intro paragraphs of T&F Seasons 1 - 10. I had spotted a punctuation problem on Series 2 and 4 pages, and I've been waiting for the articles to reach a stable state to apply the changes. I've been watching your recent anti-vandalism work for about a week, and I've finally grabbed my chance! Having seen the spoiler warning on Series 10 page I have added this to the others too.
Just wanted to warn you so that my changes were not reverted by accident next time you're 'on patrol'...
EdJogg 10:42, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Hi. You will notice that a recent anon edit has restored a large chunk of Minor characters from Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends – namely, all the engines! I have checked back to a previous version and found that at least one line was omitted from the restore (since corrected). Could you have a look too to see that no other changes have been added/removed by accident. (How did we miss this????) -- EdJogg 00:23, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I think you may have had a 'senior moment' while creating Wikipedia:WikiProject Thomas/FAQ. Have a look at the 'Structural change' paragraph and see if you can remember what you were going to say... :o)
Incidentally, you reverted the edit about Mavis being a BR Class 04. In her case this information is present on her book character entry, so is that a project policy? Ie, "TV Series characters were based on book characters which were based on specific prototypes." I don't have a big problem with that, if that's what we're doing, but we would need to make it clear to readers where such prototype information was available. It would lead to consistency problems within the article though, as all the non-book characters would still need their prototype info locally, so there would be a continuing desire by readers to add prototype info to the 'book characters' in order to be 'complete'.
EdJogg 09:16, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi again. Forgot to add the FAQ page to my watchlist, so didn't spot your corrections :o)
You'll see that I have now adjusted the wording slightly. I found the first, and hence most important, paragraph to be rather difficult to follow (not least because you had inadvertently added the page to the category of Thomas project members!!) I hope you'll agree that the revised version adequately conveys what you wanted to say.
The other line I had problems with was that covering heading changes. I'm still not entirely happy with it – it might need to be restructured again, but I'll let you have another go first, if you like!
Any ideas for other FAQs?

Hi. Two queries following your recent revert of my edits to the TV Series character pages.
(1) 'See also' - addition of this heading seemed appropriate, for two reasons:
(i) it provides visible separation between the final character and the Thomas box, and
(ii)it shows up in the Contents box so that readers know to look at the bottom of the page for further information.
I know these are weak arguments, but I didn't add it just for its own sake.
Any thoughts?
(2) 'Category edits' - Before I simply revert your changes, I thought I'd better find out why you had removed the space from before the numbers. I have found before now that just leaving a star (or a space, which is neater) with no further qualification will not guarantee the order that pages appear on the category page. Adding 'space + char' forces the issue, and moves the page to the front of the cat list without the encumbrance of a star. Your changes have resulted in the pages being listed separately under '1' to '5', instead of merely being arranged in that order under ' '.
If there is a technical reason why I should not list the cat like I did, I would very much like to know (as I have used it on many different pages to produce controlled effects).
Listing the pages (visibly) using numbers just looks plain 'odd', so it will need changing somehow.
Thoughts?

Hi.
Is this some fan fiction? I cannot find any evidence for this anywhere. If you agree, should it be redirected to Thomas and Friends video releases, or can it be nominated for deletion? If the latter, how is this done? I get lost trying to work out nominating AfDs...

Hey I've noticed you're a regular on rugby league articles, particulary NRL ones. I need your advice on something I'm thinking of starting up on the project. Many WikiProjects have Article Improvement Drives which have different levels of success. I'm thinking of starting one up for this one too, but instead of voting on an article I would rather strive to improve one NRL club every fortnight and bring it up very close to featured status. Now it seems as though there'd be a lot of work involved, but there are also a lot of club fans out there who'd probably be willing to participate. Basically there are 30 weeks in the NRL season and there are 15 club pages that are not yet featured. I propose that we all have a schedule to work on one new article every second round, in alphabetical order. By the end of the season hopefully we will have 15 near-complete, if not complete articles. My only concern at this stage is the dedication of editors to help out other team pages that they are not interested in. Basically in order to get the support of editors like these, we need a few leaders in the project. If you are willing to dedicate a bit of your time every week into this and if you have any further suggestions, could you let me know at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rugby league/Article improvement drive? Thanks, -- mdmanser 05:52, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Hello, i was just wondering if i could be any help to you on 'Wiki project thomas.' I am a new user, but hope i can be some help, as thomas the tank engine has always been a matter incredibly close to my heart. (litterally when i was 4 years old, i fell on a model of Percy and almost died from my gruesome injuries!)
On a more serious note, i would love to play a part in helping the project.

All that editing must have taken hours! (The contributions log suggests 4 - 5 hours!)
So much wasted effort...
When you are considering the intermediate edits (I hadn't spotted any worth keeping, but I quickly gave up looking!) note that some of the pictures added by Cgs4151 ( talk · contribs) had some VERY suspicious tags, including at least one screen-shot that was tagged as 'his own work'!!
Could you please tackle Non-rail vehicles (Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends) too? This has had the same treatment, and appears to have acquired a few non-notables again.
Cheers

Hi. I've just reverted a number of edits by 86.3.250.240 ( talk), which appeared innocuous-enough to start with, but the last two were clear vandalism, so I reverted the lot. Articles in question were: My Thomas Story Library and the Railway engines (Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends) page.
I had a quick look at his contributions and there are tens of edits to the TV season pages, which you will probably find are all vandalism. However, be warned, his style is to introduce inaccuracies into the existing information, which can only be spotted by someone with knowledge of the subject (which is why I'm having such trouble with edits to "My Thomas Story Library"!)

Hi there, long time no hear...
You may be aware of the current push towards the effective elimination of non-free images within WP, especially from pages using multiple images. This has a potentially huge impact on the 'Thomas' pages, considering almost all the pictures are 'fair use'. So far, only List of Railway Series Books has been de-imaged (see its talk page for important initial discussions), but the bots are roaming about and delete-warning messages concerning screenshot images are already appearing on talk pages.
As I feel rather on my own at present, Project-wise, I have posted this here hoping for some moral(e) support (initially) and editing help (in the near future). I have posted a (probably too-) lengthy cry for help at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content#WikiProject Thomas and use of non-free images asking for guidance, since there are only three likely outcomes:
It is a sad state of affairs, but I think that the first of these is the only really likely outcome, since to retain the existing set of images also requires the application of individual 'fair use rationales' to all of the images. There's too much work for even two people, and I'm feeling pretty dis-spirited now.
I am going to drop a copy of this message on the talk pages for all the Project founders, and also drop a note on the Project talk page, where we should probably continue the discussion.

Hello,
I've noticed recently that the pages for the seasons of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends (notably the earlier ones) are cluttered with useless notes that state who narrated the episode and original research like goofs to all the episodes on the guide. The narrator information and which episodes introduce new characters is highly redundant, for there are separate sections on the page for that.
I've also noticed that the style doesn't match the kind of table used for most episode lists, like this example:
I'm wondering it we should re-format the pages for consistency of the site. It would reduce the level of spoilers if we stuck with brief summaries, and the vandalised notes sections can be removed from the episodes, too. If you want to stay with the current style, however, we should at least propose a cleanup of information placed on those pages.

Thanks for uploading Image:Stepney.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion.
The three basic license types on Wikipedia are
open content,
public domain, and
fair use. Find the appropriate template in
Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 18:30, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:PercySmallEngine.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ~ Bigr Tex 19:02, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

If you want to stay with the current style, however, we should at least propose a cleanup of information placed on those pages.

claim of fair use. However, it is currently
orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed.
You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see
our policy for non-free media).
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:38, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot ( talk) 06:25, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:ISteelers2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 210.4.100.146 ( talk) 09:09, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Many people have been working hard on getting a new infobox up and running and we would like to have your thoughts on the subject here. CorleoneSerpicoMontana 07:32, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi. As noted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arlesdale Railway an editor has slated a swathe of Railway Series articles for deletion. Your assistance would be welcome!

I am creating a full list of the episodes from the lists you created, to act as a check list for episodes I have.
There seems to be a gap between numbers 235 and 247. i.e. between series 9 and 10) Any reason for this??

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current
Arbitration Committee election. The
Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia
arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose
site bans,
topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The
arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to
review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on
the voting page. For the Election committee,
