DeWitt 8891 here (DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C.), I'm just figuring WIKI out, and you've marked my first "article" for speedy deletion although all other firms in my area are listed (Quarles & Brady, Foley & Lardner, Michael Best, Von Briessen, Axley, etc.).
I attempted to write it from a historical and basic fact view point, especially given we have two prominent historical figures in Wisconsin who were founders of this firm. Please tell me what I need to change in order for it to conform. I read the G11 Requirement and don't see what in my overview is "promotional". I sincerely spent ALL day trying to figured out the formatting and other compliance issues and would appreciate a response. Dewitt8891 ( talk) 21:03, 25 September 2012 (UTC) |
In adding this page I am only trying to add information about our firm in the context of all the other firms that are listed and provide detailed information about the firms (Foley, Michael Best, Axley, Von Briessen, etc.) It is a matter of being included with our peers and if there is a conflict of interest, I publicly disclose that conflict and would hope it is in compliance with said rule "When someone voluntarily discloses a conflict of interest, other editors should always assume the editor is trying to do the right thing. Do not use a voluntarily disclosed conflict of interest as a weapon against the editor." If it is not, then I would assume that not only our page is in conflict but also those of all the other law firms and we should all be treated equally, either included or excluded from Wikipedia. Believe it or not, law firms do have historical roots in the fabric of their communities and including information on them isn't self promotional. ----DeWitt 8891

All right, are you affiliated with the firm? Go Phightins! ( talk) 16:33, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
yes, I am the Director of Marketing (Michelle Friedman http://www.dewittross.com/our-people/michelle-friedman). We hired an SEO specialist who indicated we did not have a page on Wikipedia while all of the other firms did. So I did some searching and determined that was accurate and obviously those pages were added by the firms. Again, if it's against the rules, I'm cool with that, but from an information perspective, our firm shouldn't be absent among all the others. So, either all of them come down or stay up, I'm not sure.
I will try and add relevant individuals who have worked with the firm, similar to Foley's profile, if that will help. I have my assistant working on wikifying the page so it is straight objective data. Again, our firm is the oldest on the Capitol and was featured on a public radio station regarding how it has survived so long, it has a long history in the city of Madison and maybe some kid will do a paper, I don't know. But I don't want to spend a lot of time if it is for not, so please let me know. Thanks. ----DeWitt8891 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dewitt8891 ( talk • contribs) 17:41, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Well, I pretty much re-wrote the article and it still doesn't really conform to Wikipedia's quality standards, but it's a start. At this point, the article needs reliable secondary sources to establish notability. The page Municipality of Ashfield is inaccurate and its content under controversies can not be verified. Please delete it or verify its accuracy. Please do not undo my deletes they are justified and correct in the procedure wiki suggests.
There are no reputable sources that verify any of what has been entered into controversies.
This is a blatant personal attack on one person. Why are there no other matters canvased. The author of the page has a personal grudge on Nick Adams. It does nothing for the reputation of Wikipedia to sponsor and support such attacks.
Why should I help destroy someones reputation. The author has a personal vendetta against Nick Adams. There have been many other controversies at the council. Why have these matters not been mentioned? Please do no support or harbor vindictive attacks on Wikipedia!! Delete controversies or mention them all. Do not be selective. It reduces Wikipedia's reputation to do so.Thankyou.
Please delete the section, if you can not verify it. It is vexatious and a deliberate attempt to sully the reputation of a person. Macashfield ( talk) 06:00, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi Phightins
The references given for this article are from two of India's most reputable newspapers. Its surprising you could not notice it. In case you are familiar with India you must be knowing that The Hindu and Times of India are India's two most reputed newspapers whose link incidentally is given in this article.
Regarding notability, let me introduce to you a city known as Hyderabad which happens to be the fifth largest city in India. Monda Market happens to be the oldest market in this city which was established more than 100 years ago.
I hope this clarifies your querries. An article of this size does not require any more references or the size of references will be bigger than the article itself.
For any further querries you can search the net regarding this market.

Hello phightins.
I have a question - we are a company with a wikipedia page. Seems that some unknown user has been adding malicious and incorrect information to the page. We attempt to edit it out, but it automatically reappears within minutes.
This username was the source of the change.
What can we do to remedy this problem.

Yes I am. I can be reached at mark@sun-mar.com. Would also like to determine who is adding the malicious content. Some of this information is confidential and possibly damaging to the company. We have suspicions but would like to confirm the identity. How do we do this.

It's not a BLP because the subject died in 1930, and it's not unsourced because the draft's author refers to various 1922 newspapers and a 2012 history textbook.

Regards

Hi Phightins,
Appreciate your insights re the Alan Ruddock entry- it's been very educational about how to proceed etc. I misinterpreted your 'nomination withdrawn' message from yesterday (on the at this article's entry on the Articles for deletion page) as implying that the "proposed deletion' box should now be removed ..but just got a bot issued: "level 1 warning about removing AfD template from articles before the discussion is complete."....
> Do you know if I get some sort of notification etc as to when such a deletion is appropriate etc?
Many thanks again! ( ps your Nittany Lions stuff suggest you may located close to me ;-> ) NortSide505 ( talk) 18:54, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. How do you add a new section? You can do it on a talk page but I can't seem to do it on any other ones. - Downdate —Preceding undated comment added 02:15, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Hello phightins.
I have a question - we are a company with a wikipedia page. Seems that some unknown user has been adding malicious and incorrect information to the page. We attempt to edit it out, but it automatically reappears within minutes.
This username was the source of the change.
What can we do to remedy this problem.
Busynoise2 ( talk) 02:39, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
Go Phightins!
Yes I am. I can be reached at mark@sun-mar.com. Would also like to determine who is adding the malicious content. Some of this information is confidential and possibly damaging to the company. We have suspicions but would like to confirm the identity. How do we do this.
Busynoise2 ( talk) 03:29, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I am the person whose edits you recently made revisions to. Firstly, let me thank you for cleaning up my game summary. That was messy and your help is greatly appreciated. I am writing to you concerning the revert from a line score back to a semi-box score. I understand that while this format is often used on many pages, it has not historically been used on college football pages. For a more common style, please see 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes football team page. Just thought I would let you know. -- 98.179.165.213 ( talk) 02:24, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
The fact that Raj stated he liked messing up wikipedia articles aint relevant is your opinion. If the fact that he once bought a wand from ebay is in there, I think that the fact that he stated he messed up Wikipedia articles is more relevant, even more so on Wikipedia. But whateva, It ain worth crying about. Markdarrly ( talk) 18:19, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
I've drafted out the proposal at User:Betty Logan/BRD enforcer#"Request for stable state" project proposal. Hopefully I've addressed any concerns people had, and this is the version that will go before the Wikiproject proposal committee. It's been streamlined a bit to focus on operation and the name has been changed, but other than that it's doing the same job. Anyway, this is a message I'm dropping on everyone's page so they can check it out and make sure they are ok with it. Betty Logan ( talk) 22:59, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

A question on the AfC help desk led me to your review of that draft. It's not a BLP because the subject died in 1930, and it's not unsourced because the draft's author refers to various 1922 newspapers and a 2012 history textbook. Of course it needs improvement, but please be a little more precise when you tell the authors what they need to improve. Thanks, Huon ( talk) 21:33, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the barnstar! Yep, we all make mistakes sometimes, and we all need cheering up sometimes. When I need to snap out of a down mood, I put on the DVD of The Last Emperor or Romeo + Juliet or -wtf?!? - "25 Years of Maroons State of Origin Glory" .

Hi there, regarding your comment about helping out with the newsletter if needed, my response is, "YES!". I only proposed the idea hoping that other users would join and help with the newsletter as I don't really know what should be included. I write the newsletters for WP Good Articles so I have an idea of what to include but I don't want the 2 newsletters to be the exact same. But so in the end, any help will be greatly appreciated!-- Dom497 ( talk) 23:59, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Go Phightins!. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Yunshui 雲 水 07:34, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi Go Phightins! I'm sorry I've taken so long to come back to you, unfortunately the real world has intefered with my time on wikipedia. Unfortunately, I'm not really taking on any adoptees at the moment, I've been neglecting the ones I've had for so long - it seems unfair to accept more. Have you checked out the list of adopters? They're all said in the past few weeks that they'd be willing to adopt people, so now would be a good time to ask them. You're always willing to come round to my page and ask questions too, where I can guarantee you a nice friendly response. If you don't get one, you get your money back.
