thanks for your advice re teh copy for Girl Geeks. I am quite involved in the Girl Geek Dinner group as I run some GG projects in Scotland. Rather than pretend I am someone else I would prefer to openly state my interest. I hope that over the next few weeks others will begin to contribute to the copy on these pages - I note that someone already has!!

I have made some changes to the copy - which I hope has given it a more neutral tone and will identify it as notable. Please let me know if this is adequate. If further changes are required can you please give us some indication of what you might expect?

Hi there, I can understand you wanting to be open about your connection, and that is commendable. Your username does appear to violate our username policy though as it is the same as your organisation - it matches Girl Geeks Scotland anyway, if not Girl Geek Dinners. As well as seeming promotional, it also gives the appearance of representing the organisation, and being used on behalf of a group, not an individual. It would be better to change it. If you apply to change it at Wikipedia:Changing username, then all your edits wil still be attributed to this account, and these messages will still be on your talkpage, so it's quite convenient. You could then make a statement on your userpage clarifying your conflict of interest with regard to certain articles. It's great that you're wanting to do everything above board and learn the ways of Wikipedia, but you might end up getting blocked if you stay with this name.

As for the article, important things to keep in mind out our policies and guidelines on neutral point of view, verifiability and notability. Have you read the faq linked above? That might help a bit too. At the moment, the article doesn't really demonstrate why it's notable and why there should be an article on it at Wikipedia. What would help is showing that the article has had significant coverage in reliable sources. Try not to use the official website too much as a reference. More references like the Computer Weekly one would be good.

The "mission statement" section is probably not necessary, and gives it a slightly promotional look to be honest. It would be better to try and incorporate what the organisation does into prose, with references. I'm honestly not sure if there is a need for a separate article on the Scotland branch, perhaps that could be covered in the same article? Either way, if you can find more sources (especially for the Girl Geek Dinners article) and try to write using information from those sources, relying on the official websites only when necessary to verify certain details. It sounds an interesting group by the way!
