Seems to be a shortage of people willing to close RfCs, and they are piling up. Most don't require an admin, just someone with good common sense, solid experience and an ability to judge consensus. Hey FlightTime. This will be, if not our final newsletter, one of the final ones :). After months of churning away at this project, our final version (apart from a few tweaks and bugfixes) is now live. Changes between this and the last release include deletion tag logging, a centralised log, and fixes to things like edit summaries.
Hopefully you like what we've done with the place; suggestions for future work on it, complaints and bugs to the usual address :). We'll be holding a couple of office hours sessions, which I hope you'll all attend. Many thanks, Okeyes (WMF) ( talk) 11:07, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
Hi Mlpearc! I've just noticed that you've posted quite a few notifications about the ongoing Beatles poll today. You might not have been aware of it, but posting notifications to the talk pages of articles not directly related to the Fab Four has proved to be controversial - see Andreasegde's talk page for some background. I am desparately seeking autoconfirmation. People are relying on me to get things done, I am 49 years old and not getting any younger, and I cannot wait 4 days. I am being denied on the basis that my article isn't finished yet. Apparently there is a wikipedia rule that says I must have my article complete before I can upload photos. Can somebody please explain to me what the reasoning is behind such a rule? I understand that there are rules, and I will follow them, but this rule makes no sense to me. Please see: Wikipedia:Requests_for_permissions/Confirmed#User:C_Coligniero Why can't I do the article one portion at a time? Why can't I put in the references after I have the entire thing complete? That's what I did in college. I am really at a point in the article where i'd like to upload some images before continuing, why am I not allowed to do that? -- C Coligniero ( talk) 02:58, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Hey all :).
We're (very shortly) closing down this development cycle for Page Curation. It's genuinely been a pleasure to talk with you all and build software that is so close to my own heart, and also so effective. The current backlog is 9 days, and I've never seen it that low before.
However! Closing up shop does not mean not making any improvements. First-off, this is your last chance to give us a poke about unresolved bugs or report new ones on the talkpage. If something's going wrong, we want to know about it :). Second, we'll hopefully be taking another pass over the software next year. If you've got ideas for features Page Curation doesn't currently have, stick them here.
Again, it's been an honour. Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) ( talk) 12:13, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Hello Mipearc. I think you have flagged several pictures that I have uploaded to a sandbox page for deletion. Please remove these flags. I have been given persission from the picture taker to add these to the page. The permission came as the sender knew the pictures were to be uploaded and he created the space on the sandbox page and created the captions. I simply uploaded them, but thought this was better than saying they were my pictures. On the upload process I selected the option that copyright would be provided if requested. Surely this is if somone wants to use them for something else, rather than the fact that they have been uploaded to a page? Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gurnard ( talk • contribs) 11:49, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Hello Mipearc. The owner (originator) of the images that seem to have some dispute attached to them shared then using cloud storage. I then resized them, added the strap line and uploaded them. The originator added the gallery text on the page, and named the files and captions. It might have been much simpler, but altogether incorrect to say these images were mine, but I didn't want to do this. I uploaded the images because the originator is still waiting for permission to upload files. I didn't create the images so the first two bullet points do not apply. The originator didn't 'email' me permission and the 'non-free content' does not apply. They said the images can be used by anyone for anything, but as I didn't 'create them in their entirity' they are not mine. I hope this helps with the discussion and I look forward to the correct resolution, regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gurnard ( talk • contribs) 16:37, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

G'day. I noticed
your edit at
Led Zeppelin, and was fascinated by your edit comment: "This article is written in British English."
Surely, whether a proper noun is singular or plural has nothing to with the Atlantic Ocean? However, should I be incorrect, may I impose upon you to enlighten me?
More particularly: Why is "Led Zeppelin" plural? Surely, a group of musicians is an entity? (And therefore singular?)
However, throughout the article it refers to the group of musicians as "they" and "them" ...
I'll be interested to read your reply (here). Thanks in advance. Cheers, Pdfpdf ( talk) 05:39, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
I must say I prefer "{{Dead link|date=October 2012}}" to deletion of content, your solution on this page. In this case I can't object too strongly to your removal of content; though the dead-link template would give someone the chance to search around to see if they could improve the section. I will also say your "reference is dead" phrase in the Edit summary made me think the person who was the source was dead rather than that the link was dead. I think the latter term -- link -- is more readily understandable in Wiki world.
Looking one layer deeper, this is a mighty curious Google result: As of now, it shows lots of emptyeasel.com (the dead link) search results, "1 day ago" and the like; but then they come up "404" when clicked upon. Maybe a temporary server failure? May-be crashed by the birthday/Doodle moment. Another good reason not to "delete first ask later", maybe, it seems to me. Cheers. The reliable source is the original inner sleeve itself which I bought as a new release back in 1984. The prior releases (which I also bought back in the early 80's) did not have the lead guitar credits printed. 2 years prior in the Screaming For Vengeance tour program, on the last page, Priest printed Screaming For lead Breaks which listed all the lead guitar credits up to that point in their career. Then on the next album (Defenders of the Faith) as well as all the albums through Painkiller, they printed the lead guitar credits on the inner sleeve (and in the CD booklets). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.197.70.114 ( talk) 20:42, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.
In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all there :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't. Hi MIpearc,
I'm new to Wikipedia editing. I work for the EdinburghVideoGuide.com, a free HD city video guide. The link I added to the external links is a broadcast quality mini-documentary introduction to the City of Edinburgh. It doesn't endorse any product, only the website, where prospective visitors can watch free, completely factual videos about the city.
I'm curious as to why the external link to the National Library of Scotland's video links is acceptable and not this? We're both free services provided to benefit visitors to Edinburgh.
Kind Regards,
Rury. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Edinburghvideoguide ( talk • contribs) 04:05, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
I really can't believe that the "in-fighting" still carries on this site.
I was on here eons ago, I guess, it must've been about 10 years ago. I just gave it all up.
You know, there is a lot of adolescent-minded people on here. Those that hide in a supposedly grown-up body.
I was just (again) complementing the site.
I don't know if I will carry on doing this. I had just noticed that the article was missing updated information. Easy to understand.
Discontinuation on Wiki seems to my future as a BIG waste of my invested time.
I may just skip this. My life is pretty much full of peace. This is why I left before.

Sorry to use your Talk page to answer this other user, Robert McClenon, as he doesn't appear to have a Talk page I can access and ranting isn't why I joined Wikipedia.
What Robert McClennon wrote on your Talk Page, Mlpearc:

Media claims in articles about a British actress and a US citizen caucasian mother are not any means of sourced facts. You and this actress person have to supply publicly accessible evidence, otherwise everything states that she is a Caucasian actress from Britain. No American, no African, no nothing else. It's a media fantasy at best. Say what you want, but your entertainment media company does not compete with the normal everyday evidence everyone must live with in the practice of real life. This is just the common sense facts and not the rant that you just gave this Talk Page. Let's move on from this silliness. -- VALID REALITY ( talk) 18:24, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Why was no effort made to contact me - the subject -- with concern about sourcing? I'm pretty easy to reach. This all seems to take place in the shadows, and I don't see why. Hello Mlpearc. I removed the section "religion" from Stewart's talk page because it contravenes Wikipedia rules on talk page discussion, as was stated in my edit summary. Specifically, WP:NOT#FORUM states:
"Discussion forums. Please try to stay on the task of creating an encyclopedia. You can chat with people about Wikipedia-related topics on their user talk pages, and should resolve problems with articles on the relevant talk pages, but please do not take discussion into articles. In addition, bear in mind that talk pages exist for the purpose of discussing how to improve articles. Talk pages are not mere general discussion pages about the subject of the article, nor are they a helpdesk for obtaining instructions or technical assistance. If you wish to ask a specific question on a topic, Wikipedia has a Reference desk, and questions should be asked there rather than on talk pages. Wikipedians who wish to hold casual discussions with fellow Wikipedians can use the IRC channels, such as #wikipedia. Note that this is an IRC channel, not a message board. There are also a number of early-stage projects that attempt to use a wiki for discussion and debate. Material unsuitable for talk pages may be subject to removal per the talk page guidelines."
Furthermore, user 74.69.121.132 clearly has no reliable sources to substantiate his claim. What's worse, when prompted to state his evidence, the "source" that he did eventually cite (which BTW is considered a highly unreliable reference by WP), does not even make any mention of his claim. Providing unreliable sources is one thing, but deliberately falsifying evidence is a most egregious violation of Wikipedia doctrine.
I can only conclude then, that this person's intentions are of a dishonest nature. The true purpose of their edits I can only guess at, but I strongly suspect that they are motivated primarily by a desire to promote some sort of ethno-religious agenda by way of positive association. One can't fail to notice that this kind of behaviour is becoming more and more pervasive within Wikipedia articles (BLP's in particular), and I believe it should be tackled head on to preserve the integrity, not only of Wikipedia itself, but of the people and subjects written about within it.
I therefore submit to you that I acted within my rights to remove the section in question. My only regret is that I didn't first seek approval in the talk page. I feel very strongly about this issue, but I hope that we can at least make an attempt to resolve this between us without the need to seek arbitration. Thoughts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.110.197.174 ( talk) 18:48, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
I really can't believe that the "in-fighting" still carries on this site.

Would it be better if it were all one word. I'm not sure about it being all uppercase. Perhaps if I changed it to lowercase. Thanks again, Mlpearc. -- VALID REALITY ( talk) 18:04, 3 May 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by VALID REALITY ( talk • contribs) 18:00, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Sorry to use your Talk page to answer this other user, Robert McClenon, as he doesn't appear to have a Talk page I can access and ranting isn't why I joined Wikipedia.
What Robert McClennon wrote on your Talk Page, Mlpearc:
"Thank you for directing me. I sort of wished I hadn't gone there, because it appears that he is ranting that sourced facts are not true about her ancestry. By the way, did he change his user name to Valid Reality from something else? Robert McClenon (talk) 18:00, 3 May 2013 (UTC)"
Hi,
Could you give a solid reason why COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE still has those tags. Pls clearly indicate which parts are advertisement.
Otherwise, pls remove the tags.
Thanks

Hello, Mlpearc. Since you have dealt with the #46 IP editor recently, feel free to give any input here. Thank you. Mungo Kitsch ( talk) 22:15, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Want to make email contact as I'm working on a story/column about discovering that my Wikipedia page -- Eric Zorn -- was proposed for deletion, then yanked back and cut into 1/6th back in January. The page was nearly 8 years old. Your page says you live in California...what made you troll around to find my page and what was the thinking process in proposing the page for deletion? Why was no effort made to contact me - the subject -- with concern about sourcing? I'm pretty easy to reach. This all seems to take place in the shadows, and I don't see why. I'm not even sure -- and I don't know if Wikipedia is sure -- that this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Mlpearc_Public reflects reality. All very strange. Bold textCan you please tell me who made the tents for the U.S. Army in WW II? Was Wenzel involved in tent making for the Army? Thank you, Jim DiFazio...jjdcamper@gmail.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jjdcamper ( talk • contribs) 23:35, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
