Thanks for your efforts on writing something about Mid Canterbury. There are two rather big problems, though, which I appreciate would not be obvious to new editors:

  • firstly, the scope of the Mid-Canterbury article is the historic electorate, and only that. If you wish to set up an article for the region, there is nothing wrong with that, but it has to be its own article. There is an article for each parliamentary electorate that we've ever had and that is all those articles deal with.
  • secondly, never ever rename a page by copying and pasting content into a new page. That create huge problems for administrators. See Wikipedia:Moving a page for how to go about renaming an article.

I will have to ask for admin help to get the electorate article back into shape, so this may take a few hours before it resolves itself. Don't be too worried about having caused trouble - this is simply what happens when you embark on making big changes as a new editor. Keep up the good work. {{Help me}} Thanks for your message. Question: If you were to search Mid Canterbury, New Zealand within Wikipedia there a few listings that appear. I would like to edit the 2nd one (Mid Canterbury) as that appears to be more about the district, and I was able to update that yesterday. Currently when you click on Mid Canterbury - a visitor is redirected to the Ashburton page, that isn't correct. Mid Canterbury is more than just Ashburton and should be corrected. Thanks for your help?
Click Mid Canterbury to edit the redirect, but bear in mind what Gadfium had to say. Schwede 66 10:17, 11 June 2014 (UTC) reply
