I am the writer of the documentary "Beatboxing - The Fifth Element of Hip Hop" and I guarantee you that Buffy was the first person to beatbox and to coin the term.
What is your proof for believing Doug E Fresh?

Hello
Syncrow. I understand your point. However, please remember that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and needs reliable sources. If you can find trusted sources for your edit, feel free to add them to the article. I only reverted your edit because there are no sources or citations linked to it. I meant no harm :-). #!/bin/

Hello DokReggar, I also see your point. If Wikipedia is a serious encyclopedia, it must leave that point open. There should be a gap or a questionmark or "unknown". If you had watched the documentary "Breath Control" thorougly, you would have had the "proof" that Buffy said in 1984 that he started 7 years ago. That is confirmed in my documentary as well by Buffy's brother and Kool Rock Ski (the latter does not even care who came up with the term first!). Why should they all lie? Buffy is dead and cannot be asked for further proof. Let me tell you, Doug E Fresh is a "fraud" and he is probably aware of it. The "truth" will come out and you are one of the few people who will have known before. I have the plan to extend my documentary and have it financed via crowdfunding. Hope that I will have enough support. I possibly have to change my arrogant attitude to get more backers, though. ;-) Sorry if I came across that way, but most people just take the word of a selfproclaimed original human beatbox Doug E Fresh for granted. Kind regards, Syncrow (You may want to check my website if you have further interest in the subject www.beatboxfilm.com)
Wow, I just saw that I got a vandalism-marking, that was quick... (History will proof me i.e. Buffy from the Fat Boys right.)
Hello DokReggar, as you are not answering, do I have to conclude that you don't have any proof that Doug E Fresh coined the term "human beatbox" either? Where are your sources except for his self-proclamation? — Preceding

Hello @
Syncrow:. Please do not make this a personal affair. I am sure you understand why I originally reverted your edit, and this is definitely not something against you, but rather another unsourced edit on Wikipedia.
I do not think you may be right or wrong in your statements. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia that needs to rely on sourced facts to maintain its credibility and integrity. Doug E. Fresh is widely regarded as one of the originator of the beatbox, and there are tons on interviews on YouTube from old school and respected persons backing that. These are facts. On the other hand, you suggest a very interesting point that it may be someone else that started "doing it" before. That is definitely cool and some nice information that would look great on Wikipedia. But since you are making a bold claim that few people might be aware about, you have to back up your facts.
If you want, I can help you review sources and edit the article to insert the correct citations, but you have to provide them first! See the
WP:CITE article on that topic.
Hi DokReggar, again, I am not the only one making that "claim". Buffy "confirmed" it on a TV show in 1984 that he started 7 years ago (can be seen in Breath Control).
According to Kool Rock Ski Buffy used the term in March 1981 when he demonstrated his skills in a parking lot . Okay, the first "printed proof" is by Doug E Fresh and the first video recording is also by Doug E Fresh, but in New York people do anything they can to stand out, even making false claims, unfortunately. Well, you are really pushing me to release my documentary to the world. This way I will finally get recognition at least on a scientific level (if not on a finacial). Doug E Fresh admitted that he started in 1982, you can see that on YouTube:
"Doug E Fresh from USA - Interview - Beatbox Battle TV" => Look at second 28.
He also said that "NOBODY was doing it" and that is a flat lie!
Don't worry, I won't start an endless discussion with you. It is just interesting to see that Doug E Fresh was obviously able to manifest and manipulate the media that well. Let me tell you for a long time I was also convinced that Doug E Fresh was the first and that he coined the term. It really looks like I have to get my film out. I think it is even possible that the two of them (Buffy and Doug) developed the skills independently from each other. That has happened in the scientific field a lot with different inventions.
Would it be proof enough if Kool Rock Ski said that Buffy used the term in 1981 (while saying "whoever came up with the term first"? It certainly convinced me.
Hello @
Syncrow:! Do you have any source for that TV show? I mean, something on YouTube, for example? I fully agree that it is very likely that this was invented independently, and I think would be a nice touch to the article.

Hello DokReggar, unfortunately this TV interview is not on YouTube and the original producers don't maintain their archives properly as it was not digital back in those days and I think it was a local New Yorker TV channel "The Morning Show". But don't get mixed up, The Fat Boys appeared their at least twice. The Second appearance is uploaded on YouTube, but it is irrelevant as far as term coinage is concerned. The producers of "Breath Control" were so kind to send me their film (which also has not been released yet!). In their documentary there is an excerpt from that TV show and that is wehn Buffy said that he started 7 years ago. I promised the producers not to give my copy to anyone. I hope they will release their documentary. I will also ask them if I can put that short clip into my documentary, too. Truth will come out, I am very confident. Thanks. Syncrow — Preceding

Yaniv.N:Hi; thanks for coming here! The first thing is that the sentence structures you employ are hard to read and there are some grammar mistakes (but do not worry, somebody else can correct those). You also have a tendency to write "we", but Wikipedia is not a scientific paper, it is an encyclopedia, and must remain neutral and factual. And since there are now separate articles for the
KLM protocol and
boson sampling (thanks to you, among others :-)), I would prefer that the "main" article on linear optics quantum computing remains as much technology-agnostic as possible. I hope that helps! #!/bin/

I completely understands that fixing sentence structures and wrong tendencies are necessary, but i think that it is better for the LOQC article to include as much comparisons between the
KLM protocol and
boson sampling as possible, since it is the main article and those are the plausible technologies. — Preceding

Yaniv.N:okay. I suggest that for the moment, comparisons stay in the dedicated section, and the remaining part of the article stays technology-agnostic, as far as we can. If the "comparison" section grows too large, we will rework the article structure. #!/bin/
