Welcome to Wikipedia, but it is not a place like Myspace or Facebook for people to write about themselves or their companies. It is a different sort of site, a project to build an encyclopedia, so it is selective about subjects for articles. The admission criterion is called WP:Notability and is not a matter of saying so but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people independent of the subject thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about? Many perfectly worthy organizations, particularly new ones, cannot meet that requirement: that is not at all to their discredit, but it means they are not suitable subjects for an encyclopedia article, which needs to be based not on what the organization says about itself, but on what others say about it.
Also, in order to maintain the neutral point of view which is a fundamental principle, people are strongly discouraged from writing about themselves or their own affairs. See Wikipedia is not about YOU, Wikipedia:Autobiography and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
The links in the welcome message above, and the WP:FAQ/Organizations, will tell you more about Wikipedia and how to contribute. Regards, JohnCD ( talk) 22:40, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
