Request reason:

I am not a sockpuppet or a meatpuppet. I’ll do my best here to try and give some context as it relates to the Phillips Academy Poll AfD. I am a student at Phillips Academy and thus I know of the Phillips Academy Poll as well as the students who run it. The school has over 1000 students, so the shared IP that the CheckUser found shouldn’t be an indication that I am a sockpuppet (ie. the same person as Pallster). One of the students working on the PA Poll project recently mentioned to me that they had a wikipedia page, which I thought was pretty cool. This is where I saw that the page was under review for deletion. While I may be biased because I go to the same school, I made a good faith case against the article's deletion. The reason why I made my first edits the same day as commenting on the AfD was to add to my account’s own credibility. I thought if I had other edits elsewhere people might be more inclined to consider my opinion. Additionally, my account was created long before the AfD was formed and I mostly just used it for browsing and my own research purposes. Regardless of my own opinion on whether or not the page is notable, I do not believe my account should be permanently blocked from making wikipedia edits. What is noteworthy is that I did not work in association with other students or act as a sockpuppet or meatpuppet. Further, according to WP:COI, bias =/= conflict of interest, and only undisclosed conflicts of interests are prohibited. As I am not a member of the organization, only a member of the school which the poll is at, I have no COI (though maybe some bias). I am requesting to be unblocked and if granted I will not interfere further with the AfD process.

Decline reason:

What you are describing is meatpuppetry; see WP:SOCK. Yamla ( talk) 20:53, 7 July 2022 (UTC) reply
