User Opinoso don´t respond to my messages about stop deleting a sourced and researched image I provided for the article Rio de Janeiro. He just stated on the history page that the picture is not aestethically good to the article, and "anyway, old flags are not important". He is in an edit war with me, he just erases the picture, showing a biased judgement. And, worst, he deleted my messages asking for him to stop deleting the image I provided. Hello, this is a message from
an automated bot. A tag has been placed on
Image:Snowy Plover.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be
speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because
Image:Snowy Plover.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting
Image:Snowy Plover.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at
WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the

Hello Calliopejen1. I have a request. Could you look at this image: [ [1]]. The uploader claims that it is a "PD" of John Melendez, but to me it seems suspicious. It isn't even sourced and the article has been subjected to POV's in the past. I think that it is a good candidate for deletion. If so, I was wondering if you would do the honors since I'm not very good at the deletion process thing. Cheers! Tony the Marine ( talk) 01:26, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed your edits to the climate chart template (shrinking the box). It's fine that the box is smaller, but the template is now broken for places with wet winters, because the temperature bars cover the tops of precipitation bars completely. In short, there was a good reason for the columns being so wide. I will revert your edits for now, and you can try shrinking the template without breaking it if you wish. Thanks for uploading Image:THEWAVE.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot ( talk) 19:05, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I was reading your user page and I noticed that you like to find free pictures. You are an angle with wings. As I'm sure you have seen from the Michael Jackson article, picture wise it's very boring, but it's all we have (I have checked commons). The article's pictures are not balanced. For example, we have no pictures of Jackson before the 1980's. We have 3 pictures of Jackson in the 1980's, 1 in the 1990's (which is actually just a fair use music video pic) and 1 from the 2000's. Another consideration, we have no picture of Jackson performing live (that's really important). Another thing we could do with is more pictures that clearly show Jackson's vitiligo, although these are rare Gems to get hold of. Would this be something you could help with? I particularity feel that Jackson's 90's and live image is seriously sub standard. — Realist2 ( Speak) 21:14, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

As for searching through the 18,000 pictures, I did do an in depth look a while back but because I have no understanding of picture policy I never really knew what I was looking for. Unless there was a big flag screaming "I'M FREE, I'M FREE, TAKE ME, TAKE ME" I just ignored them. So those 4 pictures would be wonderful, after that it's a case of giving those 1000's of pictures a looking through, most of those have NOTHING to do with him lol. — Realist2 ( Speak) 22:48, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Please be careful when making such large edits. Economy of Niger now has a huge amount of duplication which must be corrected. Also, is there any reason Niger should contain no content about the economy other than an internal link? There may well be some Wikipedia directive that I have not seen on this, and I would appriciate your guidance on this. But the logical end of such moves is that national articles (such as Niger) would contain no content apart from internal links to the topics covered elsewhere. I'm not trying to be difficult here, but please do note that this huge and seemingly indisriminate edit creates much work for those of us who are trying to maintain this article. Thanks, T L Miles ( talk) 13:40, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
You are to be creating articles like Human trafficking in Togo and Human trafficking in Thailand for every country in the world, and all of them seem to be copy & paste jobs from This website. While the text does appear to be free to use, you should consider whether a large number of essentially identical articles are appropriate for Wikipedia. I, for one, do not think so. Wikipedia is not a dumping ground for material copied and pasted from other websites, fair use or not. Reyk YO! 02:02, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

You have marked this image for deletion, and told me that it does not say who created the content, but I am not clear what to do. I have marked it as released into the public domain by me, which seems good enough on other images. I did in fact do so on the express request of a descendant of the man, Tim Pembrey who gave express permission and gave me the file. Please take a look at this on the talk page of the image. I have looked into this matter of copyright before, and I am afraid I cannot find definitive answers that make sense in relation to old images like this. Strictly the owner of copyright is the photographer, or his descendants by inheritance, but often, as in this case, they are not known. Ownership of the photograph is strictly not enought, is it? The trouble is, there is no proper way to deal with this problem as far as I can see, and the only images I know how to validate truly are ones taken by me. looking at other images on Wikipedia I find all sorts of dubious explanations not being challenged such as 'no objection known'. Take a look for example at Derby_School-1920, where I see one template saying 'copyright expired - life of author plus 100yrs'. I hardly think the man who took a photo dated 1920 has been dead 100 years, and in any case this was taken in the UK so US law is irrelevant. A second template on the same image says 'Public domain in the US as published prior to 1 Jan 1928) - again totally irrelevant as neither the image, nor it's creator has probably ever set foot in the US! That latter image also carries no name of a 'real' person whatsoever. How can copyright declarations be valid without such a real name and contact address? I am not suggesting that you take down that image by the way! I could give many more examples of how it seems to me that copyright reasons are 'fudged' over and over again in Wikipedia because no one knows what to do (I've tried asking at the appropriate pages and still got nowhere). Your help and comments would be appreciated. -- Memestream ( talk) 21:28, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

These days I;m spending a lot of time translating Spanish language articles into english. My latest offering is Supreme Court of Justice of Costa Rica and I have been adding Category:Spanish politicians starting with A as you can see. Aside from obscure articles like Liechtenstein wine etc, other than this I'm ploughing through the Mexican and El Salvadoran municipalities, working on African national parks and trying to develop the years in film such as Bollywood films of 1977 and Italian films of 1965. I;ve also created a full set of African economy templates like Template:Economy of Ghana. They will all need developing. One of the most important goals at present though is to get the Mexican municipalities onto here or existing ones sorted out and reference to the encyclopedia of Mexcan municipalities in spanish which means every single place in the country should have a full article eventually if the information is translated and put into wiki. Afraid my work on Cambodia and Burma dried up, chiefly because of the problem with finding adequate information to write about the places. A huge amount to do though! Today is my off day editing though I tend to work better working hard one day and then making normal edits in between The Bald One White cat 19:43, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

This animation was listed for deletion, by you apparantly. I don't know how to properly deal with this, so I thought I should talk to you. The reason for deletion is listed as it being derivative work from a copyrighted game. Obviously I meant the animation to be related to mario games since I made it for the "this user plays mario games" userbox. The image is completely custom as well. I don't see any good reason to delete it, but I'll leave the decision up to you, since you know more about this subject than I. BeefJeaunt ( talk) 22:38, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi yes I saw you felt that way. To be honest I'm surprised that some copywrighted images are permitted and others aren't. If he is implying that we must be paying for these images like others supposedly are, I can kind of see where he is coming from, but selecting a handful of images to prove a point and trolling me isn't the way to go about it. The problem I have just realised is that many images seem to be owned by the Associated Press and other news agencies. All I can suggest is that wikipedia tries to contact a few key agencies and confirm what the status is on their images. If they clearly indicate we should be paying for them and are outraged at us using them, then it will become fully clear in the guidelines that these images are forbidden and can be speedy deleted and therefore I will have a greater faith in the removal of these images. While I agree with your Fair-Use crackdown (no, you can't use Vanity Fair's image of Tom Cruise...), I think you should try to find a way to focus specifically on living subjects and cases where there are private copyright holders (not governments); it's a little unfair to wake up to see you've nominated for deletion all the Nazi Germany propaganda images of all of the Aces of the Deep or such. I noticed you left some comments (maybe automated) that suggested that by tagging an unused nonfreeimage as notorphaned, this might prevent deletion. I'm afraid this may mislead someone. As the {{ notorphan}} template says, it is only for free images. Nonfree images that aren't used in articles can't meet WP:NFCC#7, which doesn't use the word orphan at all. — Carl ( CBM · talk) 01:02, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
By the way, I checked, and there are no orphaned nonfree images tagged with {{ notorphan}}. — Carl ( CBM · talk) 01:20, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Here's an idea for you -- if you think an article has too many non-free images in it, start a discussion on the article's talk page, don't just slap a tag on it and run away, and certainly don't take it upon yourself to delete the images from the article on your own say-so.
I've reverted your deletions. If you want to discuss it, the article's talk page is a good place. Ed Fitzgerald (unfutz) ( talk / cont) 03:09, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi again, on the Michael Jackson article and other articles relating to Michael Jackson we have used the image of him at the White House in 1984. We are allowed to use it as it's public Domain etc etc. I was wondering, Jackson meet other US Presidents (I'm sure again at the white house) as well as at other places. He was with the first President Bush in the late 1980's. He was also with Clinton numerous times in the 90's and early 2000's. He has even performed live at numerous democratic conventions and inaugural's. I'm not sure if you know much about Jackson's history, but I wonder if any of these would qualify as the same free use as the 1984 visit to the white house? — Realist 2 16:58, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Dear Calliopejen1: Before you remove photographs you need to READ the age of the photograph. That means the year after the small c which means "cerca." Cerca means the year, more or less, the photograph was made. If a photograph is more than 100 years old, it is in public domian, and for that reason you do not need to remove the photograph. Howeer, you removed many photographs that were well over 120 years old, totally in public domain. Chaos4tu ( talk) 15:18, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Those old photos were given to me by Carl Chafin. Chafin was the authority on old American Western photography. He spent decades of his life collecting photographs, tintypes and such. He cateloged all of his collection, and kept his material in pristine condition. I was lucky enough to meet him through a contact at the Henry Huntingon Library, located in San Marino, California. Chafin knew nothing about the person I was researching, Yda Addis, but he did know a little about the personal life of her father Alfred Shea Addis. He was rather flabergasted that I had an interest in A.S. Addis. We conversed and traded information about our subjects for a long time. He was kind enough to give me the photographs and told me where there were others kept in various musuems. When Chafin died about 10 years ago, his wife threw out his entire collection of photographs, just put them out for the garbage man to pick up. I guess that is what happens when one devotes one's life to a precious collection of photographs instead of one's wife. Chaos4tu ( talk) 15:54, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi I was wondering if you could look into seeing what the expiry date is on danish copyright images? The Bald One White cat 22:07, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
I've noticed that you've tagged a number of images for proposed deletion under the assumption that anything published after 1922 is protected by copyright. But that is not always the case for U.S. works. Prior to 1976, copyright protection in the U.S. was not automatic. Failure to follow the requirements meant that a given work would be in the public domain. You say you are a law student, this might be fun for you to research. At any rate, the notice and deposit laws in place in 1962 were sufficiently cumbersome that many companies did not bother with the effort and expense of copyright protection for things like catalogs and sales flyers. They left them in the public domain, and those items are still in the public domain today. So please be careful when you change a tag on an image to a tag that suggests that it is protected by copyright when you don't know whether it is or not. Particularly in the case of an image uploaded by someone who apparently has access to the original source material and is therefore in a position to ascertain if the copyright formalities for that particular item were followed.
You may prefer to assume the image referenced above is subject to copyright (since the uploader in this case says that he is the copyright holder). And certainly that's a reasonable assumption. But you might also wish to be cautious when assuming that someone who has posted something that he or she might not have personally created is not the copyright holder. There is no rule that a person must dedicate the highest resolution available of the image to the public domain or a cc license, or that he or she can't watermark it first, or that he or she can't purchase or otherwise acquire the copyright from someone else and then license it to Wikipedia. Based on information on the uploader's user page & some basic research I find it entirely plausible that this uploader does hold the copyright for the images that he says that he does. Crypticfirefly ( talk) 23:09, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Oh, another fun topic for you to research if you are bored. On the discussion for Image:JDOConner.jpg you commented that you believed it to be a derivative work. Not that it's relevant to the discussion, but in general, photographs of 2D paintings are not considered "derivative works." They are considered "copies." There's some caselaw on it that you could track down that's rather interesting. Have fun! Crypticfirefly ( talk) 02:55, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Mmm I see you stub tagged Giulio Sabino. (thanks for helping out BTW). However Kleinach seems to think the article is above a stub class, perhaps influenced by the fact he created the article. Personally I think it could be expanded a fair bit to ensure it isn't stubby in parts. He has also done the same with La fausse esclave which is obviously still a stub. Jen,
I have reverted your move. First, there are quite a few other U.S. Post Office articles that already use that same disambiguation format (as we do for all building or historic districts; second, that's because "U.S. Post Office" is the proper name of the building, not a location (per my argument re the opposite side of the coin here. Third, WP:BOLD notwithstanding, oughtn't something more than just a "wny not? ..." question on a talk page be a justification for a move like this?
I didn't see any policy invoked there, or in your edit summary. And post offices are not the only proper-name geographic term so disambiguated ... most proper-name natural features are, and I've had many NRHP articles (about historic districts and other proper-named properties), inlcuding others on post offices, that were similarly disambiguated on DYK without anyone deciding that "common sense" called for such a move. Granted, NC isn't clear on exactly this point, but I think the manifest weight of practice regarding analogous subjects such as mountins and lakes without anyone objecting suggests this is fine. Yes. The only thing is it seems to state "100 years" on here but "70 years" in the commons. P.S. Ratanakiri Province really is an exemplary piece of work on Cambodia. 111 references for an article on Cambodia is astonishing. When are you going to propose it for an FA? With a little of work I reckon its ready. The main Cambodia article could also do with a lot of work, it isn't really FA class at present although it is listed as one. I thought as much. Shame wikipedia can't sort out more agreements with such organisations. I've negotiated a number of flickr agreements but was rather diappointed by the slow reaction from the commons to welcome them to say the least so these days I can't be bothered with the hassle of trying to prove they are legitimate for use. I'm sure there would be thousands of people or organisations that would be willing to permit the wiki project use of images if they are properly attibuted. Something more upscale needs to be done in this respect as potentially we are missing out on a mass of quality and resourceful images. Count Blofeld 13:10, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed your vote for deletion on the image at Charles Whitman may have been placed without actually reading the article itself (I can hardly blame you, that large) -- I don't know if it will change your opinion at all, but the newspaper edition pictured is actually part of the article, which discusses how the Chronicle actually re-opened their printing presses to publish that new "mid-day" newspaper addendum. I just thought clarifying that point might help you understand why I think a low-resolution scan of the headline (without any visible article text, making it similar to Image:Deweytruman12.jpg) meets Fair Use criteria. This isn't the following day's newspaper from a random publisher writing about the shooting, it's the local paper that put out a second newspaper that day to update people in the afternoon about what had occured earlier that day. Where do we stand now on the jpg of Half.com that is popped up over Amazon's page? Is the fair use description insufficient, so that the image is slated for deletion? Obviously, it is fair use under US copyright law because it is used to illustrate a point in a scholarly article. Moreover, by presenting the material graphically it provides the user with a much better understanding of what the effect of Half.com's conduct is on Amazon's interest in its webpage. If one went through the four fair use factors of 17 USC 107, and considered the preamble too, any court would have to find the use fair.
The militant guy says US fair use is not enough. Does that mean the image should be deleted? What do you recommend?
(Incidentally, the militant guy is wrong about who owns copyright. The derivative work is the combination of the Amazon ad and the Half.com pop-up. This is an unauthorized derivative work, so Half.com has no copyright interest in it under the US statute. Only Amazon has any interest, and its interest is limited to the remaining (unobscured) Amazon portion of the original Amazon work (the Amazon ad). That isn't much of an interest, seeing as how much Half.com hid the original material. Still, Amazon owns whatever there is that is capable of ownership.)

First, re message about the orphaned images being nominated and checking uploader's contributions, I am going to assume its just my spin on the words and that you meant it all in a positive way, but the tone of the message (to me) comes off as authoritarian, bossy and condecending -- as if I am actively trying to destroy the encyclopedia.
Here is where the lists of images are coming from User:Rootology/Images. You could have found it from the "What links here" link on the various image pages. There are thousands upon thousands upon thousands of images here. They all are tagged as {{ PD-self}} and are ophaned. Have a look at my contributions and you will see, along with nominating a large number for deletion, I am also tagging about the same number with the Move to Commons tag. These images are the ones that appear to have some encyclopedic use and have some details provided by the uploader to the description page. I will free confress I am doing some cherry picking of images off of Rootology's listings. At the same time, I do not believe that every image which contains an encyclopedic subject has to be kept; at some point after the images were added to an article someone else decided (with or without concensus) to remove it. I also think that contributors need to provide details of images they upload and there is no way anyone will ever find the images if there are no descriptive details to search for.
Now some advice to you, for those images that you have done some research on and identified (atleast very likley identified) the subject of the image and have added that to the discussion, perhaps you could add that information directly into the image page as well. I suggest this because once the discussion is clsoed as a keep based on your new information, the closing admin is not adding the info to the image page and all your information is effectively lost and the image hangs around still as an orphan with minimal information provided on the face of the page. But the very last paragraph should be extremely clear: "With respect to any and all other photographs in which The Associated Press is the copyright holder, The Associated Press reserves all its rights, and specifically does not agree that any Wikipedia publication of a copy-protected Associated Press photo in which a Wikipedia user chooses to upload would constitute fair use." I have already posted this in the three main discussion areas about the bombing image. Soundvisions1 ( talk) 23:41, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

I was not trying to cause a problem, I kind of new to this and learning. The copyrights of pictures seems to be very confussing to me. In the case of the kind of articles I wrote I don't really understand why it is an issue. When you are writing an article about a closed high school that is all positive and showing all thier great history and achievments and then you drop in a picture of the front of the school and reference it to the website it was grabbed from I dont understand hot that is a problem. I made changes to the information I had entered into the copyright information and I thought I could just delete the tags because I thought I corrected the problems. The picture of victory high school is scanned but it is a picture from a free little flyer that was sent home with my daughter who goes to school there now (it is an elementry school. It is not like something that someone is trying to make money off of or anything. I dont really understand what the issue is. I see you uploading pic's of famous people, and etc from all over the world....why is that ok? I am lost, I am not arguing, Im sure your right, I am just trying to be a useful contributer to wikipedia because I really like the site and I want to help.

Unfortunately, your vote to delete my image came through when I was away from Wikipedia for a few weeks, and I didn't receive notification of until after it had been done. I do not think the replacement image is a good choice at all. Firstly, as the article states, the main usage of these things in war was in wide fields of them completely covering an area. The old picture depicted that, the new one shows a single item configured as a booby trap; while much depicted in adventure stories, this usage must have been much rarer, and so far as I can determine there is no archaeological evidence for it. Secondly, the original image was carefully constructed for minimum file weight. Due to the coloured gradient shading (which is a purely artistic effect that conveys no useful information), the file size has been increased to 171 kB, which is big enough to be a serious turn-off for readers who do not have DSL (which is still most of the world.) Since my image has now been deleted, I would suggest using http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Trous.de.loup.png which is a) a genuine historic image; b) much smaller than the new one; and c) depicts a cluster of troups-de-loup (albeit not as clearly as the image that was deleted.) -- Securiger ( talk) 20:51, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

I actually agree with you that the gallery of women may appear a little tacky to some but it seemed a good idea at the time. But it of course should be my own decision to keep or delete them within my user space, anybody would think they were all copyrighted or something. Anyway I have the Crichton image uploaded as you can see, apparently the OTRS volunteers needed to confirm it by contacting Jon Chase themselves to ensure it can be used for commercial purposes.Take care The Bald One White cat 17:12, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

I think having an artcle about Your Favorite Enemies in Amnesty International's journal, and being official spokesperson to them is proof enough of the relevance of this band... but unfortunatly you ereased those links... and for the links of the official websites, why would this article not be allowed to have these kind of links, please explain to me because I have been around and I ahve seen other musicians articles, and tey ahve these kind of links... why in this case would it be prohibited? Or is it because the links have been deleted without actually loooking at them first? if so please put them back, editing, and ereasing good content, which has taken quite some time to gather, is kind of dissapointing, trying to make the most precise and the most perfect article, with the most information, but people keep deleting stuff...How am I to do good resources when the are deleted??? please respond Sophenemy ( talk) 15:02, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

OK thanks for the explanation for the street teams list, I didn't know that... But my question was: "why did you erase the references to the Amnesty International article on the band?"... The band has been in many magazines, which are, I think good sources to put on Wikipedia... I thought a printed source is valid? why did you take it off the article? what sources should I put? I thought Amnesty International's official website would have been enough, and if not, why is Amnesty International not a valid source considering it is an world wide known organization??? My request for a good pin map of Cambodia has been granted, my good friend NordNordWest who is doing every country eventually and standardising the maps to svg has now created File:Cambodia location map.svg. I've also arranged for a user on flickr who is highly protective of his most of his images to change the license on 22 of his images to be uploaded. Think of it as a gift to wikipedia from him. You can view them here. Includes some of Cambodia which we were missing too! Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:36, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
I'll check out that proposal in a mo. Ideally I wish there was a tool in which we could automatically translate articles from other wikipedia. It would also have massive benefit to other wikipedia in translating from us too. However undoubtedly there ar eimplications such as incorrect translations, occasional unreferenced or incorrect material etc but without a doubt something larger scale should be done about the translation thing on here which is pretty low key given the scale of all the wikipedias. I'm working on Mali at the moment there is enough information to expand around 500 articles fuller but I'll make sure I have all 703 communes started and then at least expand a few up to start class/c class. Glad you like the photos, I have only added the Cambodian ones so far I think. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:43, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
I think your template adjustments are excellent, I had tried to find a way of including the link myself but couldn't. If you could sort out all of the language tags I'd be grateful. Including a direct link to resourceful information on a weak article is probably the most important platform we can build wotwards it. I'm glad you understand my intentions. Perhaps we should also mention google translate in them to encourage editors to have a go at it? Thanks. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:27, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Could use your input at village pump. Thanks Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:08, 15 February 2009 (UTC) Yep one thing though I would avoid babelfish it is usually very bad I would only mention google translate or if you have a knowledge of the language translate. I don't want people to think the templates are for translating incorrect information or encouraging bad translations thats all. Can you please keep it to google translate? Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:33, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
If you can add a direct translation link like that basically instructing editors to click the translation link and expand the article easily this is awesome progress. Undoubtedly this would be far more succesful than our current small scale operation and while not perfect would seem to provide us with the instant access to translation of material I've long required. Google translate has many languages not all of them we have obviously but at least many of the most important ones. So if we could get most of the templates linked up to those which have language translation this is one of the most important things we can do on here for development. We must find a way then to mass distrubute these templates and basically root out the articles which should be translated perhaps a bot or something? Anyway this is great news. Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:43, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Ohhh definately avoid village pump. We now how disastrous it can be towards progression on here. They ruined my last proposal. Yes a bot that would read kb size on another wikipedia and flag them. The main problem of course would be the quantity vs quality debate. There may be a 95 kb article on French wiki for instance that is utter rubbish and a 15 kb article on another wikipedia which is of excellent quality and well referenced. We'd need to consider this but I am concerned about making it too public as people will kick up a fuss about unreliability and things like this. Perhaps AWB would be suitable and then human checking. That would be a start for existing articles however sluggish but the revised templates will be very useful for creating missing article by trnaswiki on here and allow anybody to expand on what I start. Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:53, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
The reason why I named the categories as Spanish language is to avoid the confusion over language and nationality. "Spanish articles" I thought would mean Spain. Peruvian articles, Peruvian articles needing translation etc. Spanish language I thought indicated exactly what is was intended for. Was it problematic the previous category? Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:09, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
INdeed, your new category suggestion would be very appropriate. COuld we change to your new suggestion, this way it avoids confusion and naturally is consistent with the template names you identified. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:13, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
I'd propose Category:Articles needing translation from Spanish Wikipedia. Sound good? Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:15, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Excellent. This server lag does my head in, sometimes it takes days for categories when stub sorting to migrate from the parent categories, not to mention being generally slow of late. They really need to update the servers as wikipedia is clearly getting too strenuous for them. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:16, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
For the articles which have different names in a different language, perhaps you could get the templates to read off the bottom links of the page if the link doesn't match? Probably too technical but just a thought. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:38, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Most of the articles about this band are in french, so was that reference, am I allowed to put a French quote on the english Wiki?" here is the link: http://www.amnistie.ca/content/view/79/115/ It talks about the past of the signer as being a white power supremasist gang leader, and now is trying to show people, through the band, and conferences with Amnesty, that hatered is not the answer to loneliness... I am very sorry but you have the animal by the very wrong part of the anatomy. The last thing en Wikipedia Indonesia project needs is moving their uncited material across from id wikipedia - its wrong end - we need WP:RS not tyranslations - that is an issue if you had checked the project noticeboard - and anything that has Indonesian words (like Kabupaten) in material in mainspace only encourages english challenged editors to add more non english material to mainspace. Please help us by not doing that again - thank you :) Satu Suro 22:45, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
In AGF I have only reverted one - to ask for a expand on Zoetmulder is simply mind boggling - I would really appreciate an explanation for that one - but hey maybe javanese, dutch, indonesian are your native langauges? Perhaps not Indonesian as the Indonesian wiki I believe is often of very poor quality and underdeveloped itself. SatuSaro my old Aussie friend has a point about Indonesian. Well yes that would probably be appropriate. I would like to keep the tags in the mainspace article as much as possible even for longer articles which have missing sections. Even for longer articles I think the tag can be added to sections where content is missing. However there are a far fewer articles which may already have a full article but may lack comprehension. Really the main purpose for the tags is to be slapped onto stubs or start class articles or lacking sections of articles etc which have content on other wikipedia. So at present I wouldn't mention it just explain that the tag is to be applied to an article or section which is missing vital information from another wikipedia. That should cover most of it. The templates really are intended to be administered to the worst articles or most lacking articles first so at present that shouldn't be a primary concern I think. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:49, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Doesn't help though when stubborn people like User:D6 who are starting a mass of stubs on German lakes refuse to even add the tag to their ugly stubs. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:19, 17 February 2009 (UTC) Just goes to show that the old system failed miserably. I always thought this but I wasn't bold enough to do anything to revamp it myself except create my own system of "instant" translation. We were missing a bridge between wikipedias which these templates can now serve as. Not sure what you want me to do can you provide me a list you are working through? Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:47, 17 February 2009 (UTC) I'm not too surre about the translated article thing in the talk page. People will add it like Talk:Bernardo Rodríguez y Alfaro and not know anything about documentation. (I gather you add|article and "es") but many won't know. In my view it is more important they state in the references that the articles was trnaslated from another wikipedia. Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:04, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Yes I agree, just the documentation needs explaining. Keeping a record of translated articles is good too to show progression although I'm sure sure how many will follow the guidelines. Anyway I'm off out for a bit, perhaps Mr. Herring can use AWB to rid of those old (dinosaur old) requests later. Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:12, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Well of course all articles needing translating should be fed into one cat by wikipedia, but I don't see why it wouldn't hurt to create sub categories by topic to all ow editors to translate articles they are interested in. I do however want to keep it as simple as possible, creating too much sub categories might confuse things but as long as it is primary sub categories I don't mind if you wanted to do that Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:11, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Well geography is my main area of concern certainly, but I work in many other areas other than this on wikipedia, biographies from the sciences and arts for one, museums, roads, churches etc. If we intend to tag articles to ensure the goal is as productive as possible then in the end I doubt it would be just be for geographical articles it would be a mixed bag so to speak, even if I initially think they are one of our priorities. There are though 60 templates and if you create even 5 sub categories for each, thats 300 categories than need creating and maintenance. I would probably keep it simple but ensure that we tag articles fairly over the range of subjects rather than centering entirely on geography -I'm sure interested editors can find something from the category they are interested in, besides which some subjects overlap of course. Hi Jen. Ideally I would not only like a translation bot to administer tags to existing articles but I was also hoping for some scheme where it could generate lists of missing articles betwene wikipedias and also perhaps help stubbing them. Ask Fritz, I have no idea but he said he would be willing to help run tasks in the past. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:38, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Human trafficking in Kenya, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{
hangon}}
to the top of
the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on
the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact
one of these admins to request that they
userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. --

Have you ever trolled at www.flickr.com for covers. I just entered Vogue covers in the search and a ton of stuff came up. If you want you can create 60s and 70s templates like the current ones. Can you ID the following:
I also found the following oldies that will need templates:

I am a bit mystified by your Kenyan justification for dumping large lumps of us pd text on unsuspecting projects like the Indonesian one - I would normally tend to the speedy angle some of the Kenyan project watchers thought about - that is a lot of 'deadend' material you are lumping around! Bad enough with 6 month old tags being dumped with them - but hey as to whether any body could be bothered doing the hard work on them -hmmm Satu Suro 01:02, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Oh well you are getting montezumas revenge of sorts with speedy messages - I am quite concerned with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Articles_needing_translation_from_Javanese_Wikipedia - when in the life of a hibernating polar bear are we going to get a meltdown and actually have one of these? It is as about as likely as Osama bin Laden in New York for an intervew Satu Suro 01:25, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
I note your points - and I am sure you are good and productive and positive editor - I always thought talk pages were where find out where others might be concerned about what we are doing? As it is the beginning of 40 days different living for some of us accept my apologies. Please do not do that again on the WP Indonesia project without some forewarning or explanation at the project page - thanks Satu Suro 05:07, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Human trafficking in the Republic of Ireland, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's
criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "
What Wikipedia is not" and
Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{

notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on
its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. ww2censor ( talk) 01:29, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Show me where "cut and paste has always been an acceptable way to start an article" either as a policy or even a guideline. While I have not checked all the other similar articles, those I looked at don't seen to have ever been improved or edited substantially since the cut and paste initial starts have been made. ww2censor ( talk) 02:18, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Yep its great to see, I guarantee you that no one would have done it if the tags weren't there. Aside from this I've seen hundreds of my articles I've created expanded fully, For instance important articles like Xinjiang Medical University etc. For this project to grow and develop I can't stress how important creating stubs on notable topics is. Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:15, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Mr IP is registered to Gothenburg, Sweden. I don't know any Swedish wikipedians except Fred. I know tons of Norwegians and Finns on here but not Swedes. Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:35, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
It really is wonderful to see isn't it. I had long looked for a way in which I could be more productive than I can be by myself and the tags seemed the best way of mass increasing content in the long term, So glad you had the knowledge to make those adjustments to them though. These tags really should be administered to as many articles as possible and as many articles should be started with the tags on as possible in my view to maximise our content. The problem is that we need a bot or two to not only distribute tags to lacking articles but we also need something which compiles lists of missing articles from other wikipedias and mass generates them. I somehow doubt that will have go ahead given the attitude of many people on here to mass increasing our content. These people should be seeing that wikipedia is all about content (and improving it) and we should be thinking of more efficient ways to mass improve wikipedia I think anyway. Sometimes it only seems like you, Albert and Editor of the Wiki share my views. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:40, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
What we should do is keep a record of the names of the people who have translated material and try to get them on board to develop other articles, kind of like an army of translators LOL! Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:44, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Thats what I was thinking! Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:18, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Ah yes I'd forgetten about that project. If it is inactive I would merge it with translation, perhaps leave a weeks notice on the talk page. I always hated the naming anyway, I would delete there project infrstatructure such as the boxes anyway and merge with Wp:Translation as its pretty redundant now. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:39, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
I have been creating some missing article lists manually but what we need is branches set up like that for each wikipedia with a database dump -to identify the number of missing articles and to generate lists of missing articles red linked. Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:55, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Looks good, we get new editors all the time who contribute a little, the main thing is getting these articles out there to translate. The site is used by millions of people so it is inevitable somebody will come across the article sooner or later. I'm tied at present with adding infoboxes to China and Vietnam, I've been quite surprised with the level of development of some of the Chinese cities, Kunming etc, I had thought even the main cities were of lower quality, but its getting better for sure. Still rather pathetic though if you think of the size of China and how much could be written about its places. There are of course hundreds of counties that need to be started with millions of people! Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:51, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah each of the prefecture level cities I've been going through have 2-3 million people on average many have as much as 7 million. There are likely thousands of articles missing on towns in China over 100,000 people. I've added a Chinese translation tag to Mudanjiang anyway, I haven't been looking too much on Xhinese wikipedia as I am aware it is very uneven because of their restriction. I don't know whether wikipedia is OK to access as of 2009 in China as they seem to keep banning it and rmeoving the ban. There should be a signifcant Mandarin diaspora community though that are developing chinese wiki. Potentially the Mandarin wikipedia could outscale english wikipedia some day... When China reaches its potential it really is a frightening prospect, 1.5 billion people. The country is huge and undoubtedly will lead the world within 50 years the potential of the country is unbelievable. In some respects it is starting to happen already, did you see China's performance at the Olympics? Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:31, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
If ever you have a headache don't check out File:Cangjie2.jpg. It literally makes your eyes feel the same way! Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:09, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
I see you went ahead and started the sub categories then. Not sure why you didn't tell me about it as I never said I was against the idea I just thought it might get a little too complicated with sub categories thats all but if they are kept to a few generalised categories I think its a good idea. An example for instance is categorising a video game in the same category as a dam for Japan. Its a little odd but I hope it works out. The general categories look good though, government I gather can cover other things than politcs like censuses etc. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:03, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Ah thanks for that, I didn't see that message. I thought it odd too that you didn't say what you had done as I would have gone ahead and continued taggin without knowing about it! I've just finished tagging a canton of Switzerland anyway so we now have over 230 in the German geography articles. There seems to be around 10 cantons so I'll ave the Swiss municipalities all tagged withint a few days. For Japan only I would indeed advise creating a videogame cat. Likelihood is that some Japanese American kid or somebody would try to expand a few of them. Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:16, 28 February 2009 (UTC) Better still create an entertainment category to cover videogames and manga and all that sort of rubbish! Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:22, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Can you create a category for Japanese geo articles. Could you tag most of ht elacking articles in Template:Regions and administrative divisions of Japan? Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:44, 28 February 2009 (UTC) Amzing what is missing. FA om Portuguese. We didn't even have the article! Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:36, 28 February 2009 (UTC) What do we do about buildings? Is there a building parameter for anywhere yet? What about struct=yes Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:19, 28 February 2009 (UTC) Oh definately. There are massive range of articles needing transwikiying, I'm tagged about 20 German acastles so far. If you could add a struct=yes I can apply this to articles on churches, bridges, castles etc. If you could apply it to Germany, Italy, Spain and France for now. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:22, 28 February 2009 (UTC) One thing thoughm when you create sub cats can you do this. This way we have all the sub cats listed on the first page rather than under "F"! on page 3! Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:24, 28 February 2009 (UTC) Another thing, can you add the documentation to categories like Category:Transportation articles needing translation from Japanese Wikipedia. E.g say to add an article to this category please add {{Expand Japanese|transport=yes etc. Just makes it easier for anybody following it thats all. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:32, 28 February 2009 (UTC) Looks good, the only other one I can think of is religion, but that can go under culture, Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:33, 28 February 2009 (UTC) yeah its shocking how virtually nobody seems to care about translating these articles. The best thing we can do is to make them care by placing these tags into the mainspace with a "in your face" kind of approach!, sometimes force is needed if we want to get results. We could literally expand at least 3-fold with text added to english wikipedia from other wikipedias alone. SOmetimes I hate cleanup tasks too, particularly with replacing the horrible old infoboxes like with Slovenian municipalities etc, Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:36, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Like Branko Elsner? What do I put in the talk page? Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:11, 28 February 2009 (UTC) Mmm sometimes when there is a mess I feel happy just deleting it. It puts the past behind us. I'd rather not have these old pages lying about. Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:37, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Yes indeed thats right. Thanks. Ah I meant to log off 45 minutes ago got side tracked. My head is spinning! Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:16, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

I am not sure about Wikipedia polices for treating articles of fascist organizations. This is a Serbian ultra nationalistic organization acting against the current constitution. Also, the article was obviously written by some member of Obraz as it is written in a compassionate way and does not present the TRUE activities of the Organization. For example, on their website, which is here used as a reference, you can find the program of a typical ultra nationalistic organization and I firmly believe that this should not be the material which Wikipedia should deal with.
Then let it be, I won't oppose your policy, I think that the article is not written properly, it presents a terrorist organization and it's program, and my opinion is that it should be deleted. Having these things in the 21 century is a shame of our society and a shame for this encyclopedia. I rest my case.

As you had not replied in the nomination, I just wanted to confirm your opinion. Does the image not meet the requirements of fair use because each of the works is sufficiently low res? As Papa Lima Whisky mentioned, I think it would be hard to say that the overall 'design' of the memorial is owned by anyone, as they were likely hung on the fence at random. Therefore, would it not be free because the fair use components are individually only small parts of the overall composition? Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 12:30, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Template:Models.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{ hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Thank you. That in my view is a much better idea. We have so many amazing images yet barely any of them pass the strict requirements. They'll promote a photo of a guy who looks like a lego man in a golf bunker or some shabby looking roller coaster in a theme park yet a stunning scenery which may not have perfect lighting or technically perfect but a fantastic scene will not. Hi Calliopejen,
I really think the North America and South America templates should not redirect to the Americas templates. Think of articles like Languages of North America; without a separate North America template, there is no link to that article.

What do you think of Template:2000-2009VSFashion Show?-- TonyTheTiger ( t/ c/ bio/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:LOTM) 15:54, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
←Let me apologize if I seemed a bit snarky earlier today. I know that the Chanel Couture show is likely considered to be one of the more important shows just by the context of your argument. My thinking is this. We need to use those template that help the reader to understand the subjects place in the modeling world at a glance. We need to be mindful of actual clutter and of random people looking to shoot down the templates at TfD for whatever reasons. Thus, we need to keep in mind that if we start adding a lot of seemingly random extra templates we could lose many of them in TfDs. Keep in mind the TfD electorate is not likely going to be a bunch of Fashion people if things get heated. If there is serious thought given to these being a bunch of useless clutter, then we are going to be dealing with people like me who don't know which fashion shows are most important. They will just know that 20th Century babes made waves in the Swimsuit Issue and 21st Century babes made waves in the VS fashion show. They probably see enough pretty faces standing in line at the grocery store to understnad the whole Vogue thing. That should give us what we need to get all the world class supermodels linked. If we start throwing in templates for things that they don't know about, we are going to piss people off who will then get our stuff trashed. I don't know the Chanel Show. I know more about fashion than the average TfD voter. Thus, I don't think it is a good idea. Again, I am sorry if I offended you with my commentary on the show.-- TonyTheTiger ( t/ c/ bio/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:LOTM) 04:45, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Why did you move the Classless Inter-Domain Routing article to its lowercase version without discussion? I believe this is improper as the term is clearly a proper noun. By next port of call aside from the Swedish politicians will be the List of Lithuanian painters. Would you be too bored with Spanish politicians? Thanks for uploading File:Size projection, en Wikipedia, as of Jun 2003.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. I wasn't going to comment but its when editors pop up at every chance they get to criticise. What bugs me is when people imply that "I leave the work to others to do" or am "disruptive" and "not helping" wikipedia. It really bugs me when they have no idea of the work I have done overall for wikipedia. Friday is the sort of editor who ran to grab admin tools and quite frankly does little to develop wikipedia but hangs out at ANI complaining about people. These are the sort of editors I loathe. Its just this hostile attitude towards creating stubs I dislike, the traffic of wikipedia is immense and why shouldn't anybody visiting the pages add a little to help wikipedia. I do far more than my fair share of work on here cleaning up existing articles let alone creating them, you know this its just these people have no idea. A stub is only "useless" unril it is expanded. The direct links are there to instantly translate and expand it by anybody in the world. I'll scout about for some missing Latin painters I think. The biggest request I have for a fuller article is probably Fuertaventura if you want a long term one to work on gradually. OK heres a few for you to tackle! Perhaps you should created a topic=bio parameter for Spanish.
Somebody has engine translated one already José Luis Zorrilla de San Martín . Perhaps you may want to do that one first, it doesn't even look like a google translation judging by the quality.

Yeah I know absolutely what you mean about "building an army". We need armies of people to translate these articles I create and existing stubs. Creating projects for most of the main languages is a great idea as is spamming all the people who have "I speak Spanish" infoboxes in their user space. I don't care how many people we notify but we have to assert some sort of aggression with this and make it more publicised. I would be willing to bet there will be a fair number interested in such projects, we just need to find them! Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:28, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Great I had no idea you were online yet. I am going to get a lot of criticism for creating these stubs but I am going to have to ignore it completely if we are to make any headway long term. In reality this work should be autmatically created by a bot allowing us to concentrate on translating and expanding them. Without a doubt if English wikipedia is to improve it has to become coordinated with the other wikipedias as few people seem to realise what exists already in other languages or are just ignorant towards the other wikipedias. If most of my time is spent on here making bridges and starting articles on their way then so be it, I don't see many others bothering to make the first step. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:12, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes Martin is not done yet I only did the first few sentences. Basically I replaced it with a google translate and removed the translated tag to the talk page. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:15, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
What I'd be very grateful of is if you couls notify the relative wikiprojects and link the articles needing translation on their to do lists and add sections encouraging people to translate. If for instance you could edit Wikipedia:WikiProject Lithuania#Translation required and update fwith new instructions this would be great. We need to leave sections on project pages like this to instruct editors how to add a tag to an articles needing translation and also how to translate articles form other wikipedias using the categories. The more traffic directed towards them the better. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:11, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
So just the tags need removing? Can that be done by AWB? BTW have you considered asking the operator of User:Alexbot, you know the bot which links wikis together if he is interested in translation taggin too? Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:48, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
WHY DO I PUT UP WITH THE CONSTANT COMPLAINTS?. This is really getting to me now. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:47, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah its stupid why they tagged those featured articles. I would ask somebody to remove it by bot. An article translated from Tamil wiki about Britain though is laughable. Have you noticed though that people discuss things very freely and bitch about me or my edits until I turn up at such complaints. As with ANI when I turn up strangely enough very few seem to want to comment on it further. Perhaps they see the sense? Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:56, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Thats good thanks for that, How is the translation going? Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:02, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I think I failed the WP:AGF and WP:CIVILITY in your perception of the world, from our last interaction - so needless to say Category:Featured articles needing translation from Indonesian Wikipedia leaves me completely and utterly apoplectic to say the least, (further if i realise you werent such a sensitive type) if I am to remain AGF and civil - I would ask you to at least please go to the project talk page when creating what is potentially a nightmare for the project. Hi. I don't read Macedonian very well and only looked briefly at a comparison of the English article with The Macedonian version. I was immediately struck by the superior-quality Benz image as compared to though I also noticed differences in the number of wheels and the controls of the two vehicles. See also this pic in the article on Bertha Benz-- . So maybe we do in fact need to look carefully at some of these comparisons instead of assuming the rather sloppy English article is good enough. Should such matters be raised on the Talk page where there is already discussion of how to improve the article? Cheers Bjenks ( talk) 02:34, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

I have performed a web search with the contents of Pre-Columbian Ecuador, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: History of Ecuador. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot ( talk) 02:20, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, can you tell how to align the table in Effectiveness in the right of the third paragraph? Otolemur crassicaudatus ( talk) 03:34, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Jen,
I have reverted your move.
Hi. I was wondering if we could claim use of these United Nations images. The images state "copyrighted" but it it well known UNited Nations material is in the public domain with Template:PD-UN? The template asserts that public domain images include "United Nations documents issued with a UN symbol" but most if not all of the images do. Count Blofeld 12:52, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading Image:Harstad byvåpen.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NAH ID 14:09, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. -- Jordan 1972 ( talk) 21:33, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

I found something that you should keep close at hand as you are finding A.P images - Image:Marked-ap-letter.jpg. It is a letter from the Associated Press that is giving permission for two images to be used on Wikiepedia. But the very last paragraph should be extremely clear: "With respect to any and all other photographs in which The Associated Press is the copyright holder, The Associated Press reserves all its rights, and specifically does not agree that any Wikipedia publication of a copy-protected Associated Press photo in which a Wikipedia user chooses to upload would constitute fair use." I was not trying to cause a problem, I kind of new to this and learning.

The faster your respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved. This is because deletion debates only stay open for a few days, and the first comments are usually the most important.

I actually agree with you that the gallery of women may appear a little tacky to some but it seemed a good idea at the time.

Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:18, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes thats better using small text too and will undoubtedly make it easier for people to understand. I have actually been experiencing your changes as I'm adding the german templates to one line swiss stubs at present and have seen your progression! Looking good. Please stop removing translation requests. Those requests are put there for a reason, and you shouldn't be removing them just because you don't think there's anything useful in the other article. Thanks. ··· 日本穣 ? · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:32, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Noticing Catherine Deneuve in the current decade template makes me wonder if successful celebrities will end up with six or seven of these if we do ten year groupings.-- TonyTheTiger ( t/ c/ bio/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:LOTM) 08:12, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Can't think of anything offhand, NOTE though that Garion has always been a excpetionally difficult one as long as I can remember, he has a long history of objection to change or BOLD moves, my American film templates etc etc, the list goes on... Others such as MBisanz may feel differently. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:38, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
What are your arrangements for Norway? There are two Norwegian wikipedias but only one tag?? Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:59, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
Yes perhaps we should make two just to avoid confusion. I have no idea what the difference is between the wikis but a lot of articles seme to have both links in. One is probably far superior to the other but if we could make that perfectly clear. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:03, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{
hangon}}
to the top of
the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on
the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay.

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Human trafficking in the Republic of Ireland, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Yep its great to see, I guarantee you that no one would have done it if the tags weren't there. Aside from this I've seen hundreds of my articles I've created expanded fully, For instance important articles like Xinjiang Medical University etc. For this project to grow and develop I can't stress how important creating stubs on notable topics is.

There is only one CIDR concept or implementation and the term is the standards-based name of the method. Kbrose ( talk) 04:40, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
What should politicians be classed under topic=gov or topic=bio? I will be aiming to add a huge amount of Swedish politicians from swedish wiki in a few days so if you could create one for Sweden. Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:16, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Fine then I'll clutter the main category. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:39, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
I had intended to do some this afternoon, I meant "within" a few days, perhaps I can get the "A's" for the Central Party started this avo. If you are busy I guess I can do Albania now, whatever you are happy with but I need to know what documentaation to add for politicians anyway. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:43, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
The reason why is I've successfully started over 40 articles already and they have all been expanded by the looks of it by TOmas e see here for example Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:46, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks there are about 800 articles to transwiki, given the success of the ones to date I feel more confident starting them. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:47, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Yep a pleasant surprise. Can you blue link the new cat then? Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:53, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes I just blue linked it as I've started around 6 or 7 in the last few minutes. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:02, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Well seems he hasn't done all of them, he seems to have a done a good amount though. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:49, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi! Well I was going to do a few Central/South American painters and poets, I've done a lot of Peruvian poets etc already. By next port of call aside from the Swedish politicians will be the List of Lithuanian painters. Would you be too bored with Spanish politicians? I have the full missing wiki list of missing ones in my user space. Name a topic and I'll be happy to start them. I would like to learn Spanish, French and Italian flunetly too! I know I am going to get "spamming" or "bot" comparison complaints every now and then to to mass creating articles with little content but I'm sure the people who count on here am fully aware of what my goals are in the long term. We just seriously need to do something about making this translation project more of an important thing on here as you and I both know we could expand four-fold from content on other wikis alone. P.S> I donated a lovely Bengal tiger to your friend Tony the Tiger for his help with your model thing. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:33, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Tomorrow or Wednesday, I am going downtown to see if I can find the rest of the 1990s American Vogue covergirls on microfilm. If all goes well, I will then add the 1990s templates to the articles and hope for help cleaning the rest of it up.-- TonyTheTiger ( t/ c/ bio/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:LOTM) 19:28, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Papa November ( talk) 11:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Please see http://stats.grok.se/en/latest/Wikipedia:Do_you_speak_French%3F. It says: " Wikipedia:Do_you_speak_French? has been viewed 25 times in 200902." The article has been actively read, even if not actively edited. -- Wavelength ( talk) 00:17, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Calliopejen:
Today you left an edit message on the discussion page of the Soviet war in Afghanistan article. It says "our article is better developed than that one," but I cannot see that you contributed anything to the discussion. I am curious as to what your message means (of course the entire article is a mess, but that is something else altogether). Thanks. Kenmore ( talk) 03:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
I noticed that you have started some model pages. You should use {{ Modelref}} for the external links. See Frankie Rayder to see how it looks.-- TonyTheTiger ( t/ c/ bio/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:LOTM) 06:03, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:36, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Have a nice day as they used to say Satu Suro 00:02, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your civil response - I am short on time to check what you have mentioned - hope to get into the gist of it in a day or two - please have a good weekend whatever you are up to - and thanks for putting up with me Satu Suro 02:50, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Basically I think the guy is saying ignore Indonesian wiki. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:03, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Hello Jen. I've expanded that article a bit, it's still a stub, but not so pitiful, I hope :) Would you mind to check my English? Best. -- Vejvančický ( talk) 19:19, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

At Lauren Hutton's FMD page some of her covers have full dates and some have month year. I was not sure how to fill in our templates. Feel free to correct them and explain to me what is going on.-- TonyTheTiger ( t/ c/ bio/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:LOTM) 20:59, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
That's heroic work you're doing culling these, though i still think a massacre would be better! Johnbod ( talk) 17:32, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Re your comment ikn the edit summary here, perhaps the articles should be merged. -- Boracay Bill ( talk) 12:14, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
File:Sewardhighway.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Sterling highway.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Sterling highway.jpg]]. Hi Calliope,
Thanks! It's always good to know that someone appreciates my efforts. Hopefully I'll be able to take the time to get it up to featured status in the near future.
