1. Introduction
The shoutbox is a useful tool where smaller comments are posted. Examples are, "thanks for .....", "are you online?", "nice edit", "I´ve finished the ......", etc. It can also be used as a semi-instant messaging box where conversations can be held. These are some advantages of using a shoutbox:
The shoutbox is intended to be in the talk page, so the user gets inmediate notification of a new message. My intentions in creating this chat-tool are to help in wikipedia´s improvement and enhancement, not to be confused with a WP:NOT violation. The idea of using a shoutbox in talk pages was originally mine (I don´t know of other user who had the same idea as me previously), however, it was inspired by: ♥Soccer5525♥ Talk To Me! (so I´m giving his/her corresponding credits) |
2. Use & maintenance
To place a new comment in the shoutbox, a text in the bottom says "Please make comments at the top. Click here to shout" and it redirects to the edit section of the page. The shoutbox is a fixed object that must be in the first (on top) part of the edit section (the source code) so a user can see an arrow which leads him where to place the comment. The reply is suposed to be in the respective shoutbox of the other wikipedian. You can change the position in where the shoutbox is placed; in the picture, you can see a line highlighted, that is the code for the positioning stuff. The number "20px" means that the object will separate 20 pixels from the right margins (and 50 pixels (px) from the top margins). The proper separation varies in each user talk page. You can also change the word "right" for "left" and "top" for "bottom" and the code will work accordingly. The code highlighted in the left means that the position from margins will be taken as of the page and not the screen. For example: if you change the word "absolute" for "fixed", the position will be separated from the screen margins (which are not the same). In consequence, the object (in this case, the shoutbox) will stick to the screen, no matter if you scroll down the page. Also, in the section marked below, if you change the word "collapsible" for "collapsible collapsed", with this you can make the shoutbox to stay collapsed all the time by default (untill you press the button "show"), keeping the shoutbox even more compact. Periodically you must manually clean (delete) the past comments, so the shoutbox is kept clean. |

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Pachyna, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
None of the references given provide any information about "Pachyna". A google search for "Pachyna" gives no results, other than this article. It is unlikely that "Pachyna" is a type of moth as this article claims.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's
criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "
What Wikipedia is not" and
Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{
dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on
its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Dude, that's too many indents! When there are 3 indents in a talk page conversation, the indent thing starts over. Anyway, I think the subst is good because as Damërung said, "You can make a general template, but what if a user wants to move the shoutbox to some other position, if he alter the main template, he would be altering everyone's, so he would have to avoid having the template (having it raw as it is originally)" plus, you have arrows to guide folks that are less code-minded. It's me again. I have come for your help. I am preparing Ctenomorphodes chronus. It is a stick insect. The draft is here [1]. The bug has a zillion synonyms and the taxonomy is changing a lot. I am just wondering if I am making a duplicate article or if the taxobox is way off. I could use your guidance.
This stick insect could generate interest at DKY because it is a strange bug. From preliminary research it looks like it drops eggs for ants to carry away, plus it is parthenogenetic and it's a sex maniac.
As for Red palm mite, it worked out well getting into the DYK with photo and getting 8,000 visits. Thanks for any help you can give. Cheers.-- Anna Frodesiak ( talk) 07:56, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

But you do have to admit, it is sorta hard to categorize Slow Burn (another song that has had difficulty genre wise) and Falling down, Genre wise. Like, they are by a Metalcore band, but Falling down has traits of Hard rock, Post-Hardcore, Pop Punk, Pop Rock, Punk Rock, Alternative rock, and even Glam rock in it; and Slow burn has traits of Metalcore in the backing lyrics (you can hear guttural screaming in the background), and synth rock, pop rock, hard rock, and post-hardcore. But people insist on calling both Metalcore and Alternative metal, which I think is insane. Alten hofen 01:35, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

I noticed you made some articles on Hamadryas species. They are extremely short though. I would like to ask you if you could at least add the species authority, the synonyms and the locations these species can be found. Only stating that this species exists is not really informative. Hi, that's quite a collection in the preceding thread - congratulations! Back to your question, the truth is that I'm still feeling my way and the next article I work may force me into a new approach to placing Classification & Taxonomy. So I guess the best advice is: be flexible; allow yourself a few days of reading around before start writing (I should try this more often myself!); and try to work out your own list of factors that favour various orderings. As a principle I'd like to place Classification & Taxonomy as late as I can, so that the reader gets plenty of information about anatomy and physiology, including variations on these themes - that way Classification & Taxonomy changes from a pure laundry list to groupings of features (X has features A, B, and C; Y has D, E and F), e.g. at Arthropod. But often particular articles force me to place Classification & Taxonomy earlier, usually because a group has such disparate members that I need to make this clear up front, and then I have to introduce the names along with summaries of names to distinguish the names, as I did at Mollusca or Annelid. And Sponge has Classification & Taxonomy in the middle (sigh). If you look at the "Zoology" section of User:Philcha#Improved_and_got_passed_as_GA you'll see the various orderings I've used. I hope this helps(???). -- Philcha ( talk) 08:03, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's
criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "
What Wikipedia is not" and
Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{
dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on
its talk page.
Of course, you will still retort to that :P -- Sushiflinger (Goldblattster) ( talk!) 16:29, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
