Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please note that for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, some of your additions to Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey will most likely be deleted, as the text appears to have been copied word-for-word from http://www.childinfo.org/mics.html. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. Regards, Qwfp ( talk) 19:18, 12 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Hi,

I got the standard message on deletion of content, because I have copied word-for-word. I work for the MICS team with UNICEF. I understand the concern of copyright, I just can't handle going through a process of getting consent to use something that is obvious information. Please give me and colleagues a couple of weeks to rewrite some of the content and then we should be ok.

Cheers,

Bo UNICEF Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa Nairobi

Hi Bo, it wasn't entirely a standard message - in fact the procedure recommended at Wikipedia:Copyright violations is to remove the material straight away, or revert to a previous version, as has happened to this article before. I suspected from googling your name that you work for UNICEF though, so I thought there might be a good chance you could obtain permission. I'm no expert on copyright law, but Wikipedia seems to take it pretty seriously. I'm happy to wait a couple of weeks, but I can't speak for anyone else. around here. Best wishes, Qwfp ( talk) 20:11, 12 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Hi Qwfp,

Thanks for your quick reply! I am pretty amazed that you took the time to google me - goes to show that sometimes it is good to use your real name... Anyway, I have edited bits and pieces here and there - still brand new to wiki - and hope it will fly with the wiki folk. I am asking my MICS colleagues to add info, so we'll hopefully see the content change rapidly - particularly on the individual countries that have conducted surveys. Cheers, Bo
