Welcome to the (slightly delayed) third issue of the Help Project newsletter. The past month has once again been a busy one for my fellowship. The full results and conclusions from the extensive user survey on help pages are now available, and make interesting reading. These do confirm a number of our suspicions about Wikipedia help, and suggest that the current plan for the remainder of the fellowship is a sound approach. Also last month I was fortunate enough to attend Wikimania 2012 in Washington DC, where I gave a presentation about help pages and the aforementioned survey results. You can find the slides from this on Commons. Wikimania was also a great opportunity for many discussions with staff and community members, and these brought up some interesting ideas which I hope to follow up on. One of the things much discussed was the planned tutorial pages. I've been working on a new design for them which can be seen at User:The wub/sandbox/1, please let me know what you think (especially if you spot any bugs!). Any comments or suggestions for future issues are welcome at Wikipedia:Help Project/Newsletter. If you don't wish to receive this newsletter on your talk page in future then just edit the participants page and add "no newsletter" next to your name. |

Hey all. Some quick but important updates on what we've been up to and what's coming up next :).
The curation toolbar, our Wikimedia-supported twinkle replacement. We're going to be deploying it, along with a pile of bugfixes, to wikipedia on 9 August. After a few days to check it doesn't make anything explode or die, we'll be sticking up a big notice and sending out an additional newsletter inviting people to test it out and give us feedback :). This will be followed by two office hours sessions - one on Tuesday the 14th of August at 19:00 UTC for all us Europeans, and one on Wednesday the 15th at 23:00 UTC for the East Coasters out there :). As always, these will be held in #wikimedia-office; drop me a note if you want to know how to easily get on IRC, or if you aren't able to attend but would like the logs.
I hope to see a lot of you there; it's going to be a big day for everyone involved, I think :). I'll have more notes after the deployment! Okeyes (WMF) ( talk) 20:15, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Benzband. Knowing you, I know you only had good intentions. Please don't change other user's posts. The code, with the timestamp, was my instruction to the user and even though the timestampt was unecessary, you still shouldn't change it, unless it is something so obvious like a person leaves a red link to a policy because of an obvious typo (and even then you would probably say something in the edit summary like "fixed obvious typo in link, hope you don't mind"). If that works for you great, if it doesn't or, as it seems, you like to poke around and try different things, then Wikipedia:Copyright problems might be worth a peek.

Hey all :)
A couple of new things.
First, you'll note that all the project titles have now changed to the Page Curation prefix, rather than having the New Pages Feed prefix. This is because the overarching project name has changed to Page Curation; the feed is still known as New Pages Feed, and the Curation Toolbar is still the Curation Toolbar. Hopefully this will be the last namechange ;p.
On the subject of the Curation Toolbar (nice segue, Oliver!) - it's now deployed on Wikipedia. Just open up any article in the New Pages Feed and it should appear on the right.
It's still a beta version - bugs are expected - and we've got a lot more work to do. But if you see something going wrong, or a feature missing, drop me a note or post on the project talkpage and I'll be happy to help :). Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) ( talk) 00:08, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey Ben,
All the info you removed from "Jenny Eakin Delony" was written by LDBaker aka (Linda Hastings Baker). She is the author of the article on Jenny Delony that is on the Encyclopedia Of Arkansas. This was not copy and paste. I orginally put the article on and Linda Baker made some changes ( I talked to her about it). If you look at the "view history" you will see where she made changes. Would you please put back what you deleted?

Hey Benzo, I'm wondering if you can help me make the Portal I'm building a little more attractive (perhaps even both of them). I'm working on Portal:New England (trying to bring it up to Featured) and working on rebuilding Portal:Nazi Germany. The problem is, well, I've had a bit of a history with color blindness. Not to bother you with the medical details, but I'm at a place where I can't exactly percieve what colors work well together (and, aside from picking out ties, Wikipedia is really the only place it is a "disability"). If you could take a look at some of the other Featured portals and just change the colors at Portal:New England/box-header and Portal:New England/box-footer to some aesthetically-pleasing design, I would be forever indebted to you and would gladly name my first born son in your honor. ![]() Articles for Creation is desperately short of reviewers! We are looking for urgent help, from experienced editors, in reviewing submissions in the pending submissions queue. Currently there are 3114 submissions waiting to be reviewed and many help requests at our Help Desk.

Can you send out a message to all of the members of the project requesting comment on the talk page? Arguing with this editor is getting pointless. Ryan Vesey 00:13, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Hey Ben,
All the info you removed from "Jenny Eakin Delony" was written by LDBaker aka (Linda Hastings Baker).

Hi,
I've added my responses to your answers, and there is still one little thing you need to think about doing for one of the answers. I hope you don't mind, but I've archived the conversation on my talk page, as I don't really want the answers showing up should the RFA candidate wander past! Ok, they would be able to find it easily enough with a little bit of hunting, but I'd rather not advertise its existence... LOL! Stephen! Coming... 16:06, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Articles for Creation urgently needs YOUR help!
![]() Articles for Creation is desperately short of reviewers! We are looking for urgent help, from experienced editors, in reviewing submissions in the pending submissions queue. Currently there are 3114 submissions waiting to be reviewed and many help requests at our Help Desk.
If the answer to these questions is yes, then please read the reviewing instructions and donate a little of your time to helping tackle the backlog. You might wish to add {{ AFC status}} or {{ AfC Defcon}} to your userpage, which will alert you to the number of open submissions.
We would greatly appreciate your help. Currently, only a small handful of users are reviewing articles. Any help, even if it's just 2 or 3 reviews, it would be extremely beneficial. |

We're continually working to bring resources like Credo to Wikipedia editors, and this will very hopefully not be your last opportunity to sign up for one. Hello, Benzband. Thanks for your help today with Rudy Buttignol and the Brittania Mine Museum entry. It's been a couple of months since I've done any Wikipedia edits and I was a little afraid that my Wikipedia brain would not work.
How do I delete Rudy Buttignol's month and date of birth from the infobox? He contacted me wanting only his year of birth here and in other places. I can edit out the other places but can't figure out how to delete from the infobox. Please help.
Sofiabrampton ( talk) 18:18, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
| birth_date = {{Birth date and age|1951|06|18}}
, where 1951 is the year, 06 the month and 18 the day.{{Birth date and age|1951|06|18}}
with {{Birth year and age|1951}}
or simply 1951
. Hope this helps Hello Benzband, I tried to remove the month and day of birth from RUDY BUTTIGNOL'S infobox as you instructed (see above) but I got this: 1951 (age 60–61) Pordenone, Italy
What do I need to do so that his age appears as "61"?
Cheers! Sofiabrampton ( talk) 05:31, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
{{Birth date and age|1951|06|18}}
with simply 1951
. If you wish to keep the age displayed, you could use 1951 (age {{age|1951|06|18}})
with would produce: 1951 (age 73). Cheers,
