Hi, Just to let you know, I reverted your edit on WP:UW about the bullet points, not through anything malicious though. The guideline itself hasn't change, just that it's not done automatically by the templates. It was a core part of WP:UWLS before we merged it with WP:UW and I'm sure someone would get up in arms if we removed it straight off. I'm not bothered either way, but I would suggest creating a discussion about it on WP:UW as to whether it was relevant anymore, seeing the opposition to it's automatic inclusion. For some reason I'm not able to use your warning script that has all the new warnings. I, TeckWiz, award AzaToth a barnstar for creating the most amazing script ever!. It includes every warning known to man and allows you to specify the article parameter on it. It also includes every speedy reason known to man (it even lists the reasons next to the codes you can't remember, like G4!) Thanks for this amazing scipt!-- TeckWiz Talk Contribs @ 00:25, 30 January 2007 (UTC) |
Just like to say that twinkle is bloody FAST...... when I refreshed my monobook in Firefox right after changing to twinkle, I was very surprised that it loaded in almost no time at all! Again, thanks. Flyingtoaster1337 09:34, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
P.S. You should link to your marvellous piece of work from your user page instead of forcing people to dig for the link in article histories or watchlists... :) Flyingtoaster1337 09:36, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
One question: When I edit a user talk page, I see a [1] tab next to the watch tab. When I click on it, nothing happens. Is there something wrong with my monobook.js? I'm using Firefox 2.0.0 with the only plugin installed being one that highlights the active form control. Flyingtoaster1337 12:14, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Aha! I've found the CSS that's needed to make the [1] do something. :-) It didn't work because the Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/Add LI menu script needs modifications to monobook.css as well. The required chunk of CSS is on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/Add LI menu. Flyingtoaster1337 23:26, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
I've a suggestion for extra functionality: Can twinkle be made to include the wikilinked page name in the edit summary when warning vandals? It'd be nice because (for example) I can see whether a previously-created spam/nonsense page has been re-created by looking at the edut summary. Flyingtoaster1337 15:01, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I didn't want to just edit on you, but I think the [4] tab also needs {{ returnvandal-n}}. Hi AzaToth,
Please don't alter the colors on other users' talk pages as you did here. If you don't like the colors, discuss it with the user in question or don't visit the page. The flashing ALERT message at the top of your page indicates you like flashy, garish colors, so I don't know why you felt the need to adjust someone else's talk page to remove garish colors. Presently, reverts and notices on user talks are minor. "Revert to revision #" isn't marked minor. I think the "revert to revision" should be changed to minor, and warnings on the user talk should be made non-minor. Can this be changed if you agree? When I use the Rollback Vandalism option (the red text one), would it be possible for the popup window to open a new section, such as with this URL instead?
http://en.wikipedia.org/?title=User_talk:AzaToth&action=edit§ion=new
...and to populate the name of the Article/file I reverted on in the subject line, along with that day's date in standard formatting? The reason I ask is that I seem to end up using it mostly on IP users. It seems like everyone puts the warnings on a given IP into one common text field... I don't know if that's common with anti-vandal tools. I think it would be much better for each instance to have a unique section, with the name of the article, and the date it was lodged, so that anyone later looking at the IP talk page can immediately see what articles have been hit and how frequently. It could make life easier for an admin looking at the talk page to make the decision to temporarily block. - Denny 00:22, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

I know you're busy with Twinkle, but I saw on your userpage that you're a regular expression programmer...I did some work on the above page, but it's been a long time since I messed with regular expressions and I had to re-learn as I went. I hope I didn't screw anything up, but one of the main things I wanted to accomplish was to rework words with different permutations (like pothead, pot-head, pot head). I tried putting the expression [- ]?, but that didn't seem to work, so I used ([- ])?, which worked for some strange reason. Anyway, I'm not real happy with the hits I'm getting - maybe it's just a slow night, but I'm not seeing hardly any hyphenated or two-word vandal hits from expressions in which I used the above expression. (I do get some - "porn star" seems to work fine.) I just need a sanity check to ensure I'm not screwing up everyone's vandalism filter. Thanks! RJASE1 01:44, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
I see everyone is commenting on your Twinkle tool, and I have to agree with all the compliments; it's really great. I do have an issue or two, plus a suggestion.
First, the issue. I use Twinkle often to patrol the Recent Changes page, and I actively warn editors who vandalize or spam Wikipedia. However, I notice that Talk page edits I make are automatically marked minor if I use one of the tabs' links to insert a warning. I found the line in the twinklewarn.js file that does it:
document.getElementById( 'wpMinoredit' ).checked = true;
I notice you have it in there in both the warning and block tag functions. Might I request that these lines be removed? When editing Talk pages, edits made are usually minor, and this is the only tool I have seen that marks its edits as being minor. I also noticed that the vandal reporting script, twinklearv.js, has the line
doc.getElementById( 'wpMinoredit' ).checked = true;
in it, which marks vandal reports as minor, not something I'd expect. Could these be enabled/disabled by extra variables in TwinkleConfig? I think conditionally branching the script would work, perhaps with a statement such as ( TwinkleConfig.markReportMinor ? doc.getElementById( 'wpMinoredit' ).checked = true : ); I think that would work, and it's based on the switches I found in your existing scripts. Thanks for looking into this.
Oh, one more thing. It would be handy if Twinkle would insert rollback links into the Recent Changes and Watchlist, the same way as it does user contributions lists. If possible, this would be useful especially for the enhanced RC/WL. Thanks again! — Tuvok [ T @ lk/ Improve me] 18:02, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Have added configuration for those minor edits now. → Aza Toth 21:32, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Another issue I've noticed with Twinkle is that it doesn't consistently insert links on every single entry in a user's contribs. I have a screenshot if you're interested. It skips certain lines, seemingly at random; I can't find a pattern to it. — Tuvok T @ lk/ Improve me] 22:56, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

However, I primarily use Safari to edit and when I put my cursor over the [1], [2], [3], [4], and [s], the window stretches very wide (I have to scroll over far past the edge of the screen), unlike in Firefox where the width is just that of the longest word in the column. I know you haven't tested this in Safari, but have any ideas where this might be coming from? If necessary, I can take screenshots. -- Fbv 65 e del / ☑t / ☛c || 23:11, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for making a report in respect of Paperbackwriter06gms ( talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Removing and reporting vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them again to the AIV noticeboard. Thanks. (The user has now been warned by Luna Santin, and has apparently stopped uploading porn.) Sandstein 23:10, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Same here. Great Work! The db tagging is very useful. The only thing is often I want to tag with, {{db-band}}, {{db-club}}, {{db-corp}} {{:db-group}}, or {{db-web}} instead of just {{db-bio}} under A7 as listed here. I'd say the ones I use most are db-band and db-web. Could you possibly add them to the list? Thanks again for your work.. Danski14 03:02, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Im really sorry, I just checked the message you sent me concerning my edits of Mortal Kombat articles. I apologize if what I edited didn’t help, I wasn’t intending to do any vandalize; I was just trying to help by adding important Mk info and facts, as well as a few pictures. I have added some other info in other characters pages, hopefully it all fits well under the rules of Wiki. I apologize if I did anything wrong, but I hope Im still allowed to edit mistakes and add information since I have contributed with lots of information that remains untouched in some of the pages.

Please don't alter the colors on other users' talk pages as you did here. If you don't like the colors, discuss it with the user in question or don't visit the page. Presently, reverts and notices on user talks are minor. "Revert to revision #" isn't marked minor.

I found the line in the twinklewarn.js file that does it:
document.getElementById( 'wpMinoredit' ).checked = true;
I notice you have it in there in both the warning and block tag functions. Might I request that these lines be removed? When editing Talk pages, edits made are usually minor, and this is the only tool I have seen that marks its edits as being minor. I also noticed that the vandal reporting script, twinklearv.js, has the line
doc.getElementById( 'wpMinoredit' ).checked = true;
in it, which marks vandal reports as minor, not something I'd expect.

Hi. You reported 201.208.5.31 ( talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) to WP:AIV as a spambot/open proxy, but I don't see any contributions listed for this IP address. Are you sure you've reported the right IP address? -- Netsnipe ► 13:33, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. Both IPs that have touched that page have now been blocked for 6 months. -- Netsnipe ► 13:45, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

I've been losing pages from my watchlist lately and I think it may have something to do with Twinkle. When you have a minute, could you look at my monobook and see if I've messed something up? John Reaves (talk) 20:36, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I am using the TWINKLE script that you made (as I suppose) and it is magic! Thank you very much. -- Meno25 21:48, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
OK, I'll admit it: my little dude -was- really annoying. :) ...but twinkly. Yours is better. ;) - Denny 21:59, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Should use template "Db-Redundantimage" instead of "Db-redundantimage". (Upper-case "R" on redundant.) RJASE1 Talk 17:12, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi AzaToth, I just installed the Twinkle user warning, and it works well in Firefox.

I see you are the creator of the TWINKLE script. Thank you very much for coding it; it's often quite a help. Sandstein 23:12, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Same here.
Thank you for your time AzaToth! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 200.112.193.3 ( talk) 16:15, 20 February 2007 (UTC).
