"This is a User Page" codeI've currently got 2 copies of the standard "This is a User Page" code on my, er, UserPage. However, if you look at the code for the two of 'em, the top one is significantly more obfuscated than the bottom one. Ignoring the rounded corners on the bottom one (which I learned how to do from your UP, thanks!), what's the real difference between the two? Why use HTML entities like 'ki' to display 'Wi' with all the HTML comments and meaningless <span> tags interspersed between 'em? I don't quite get it... -- Mike Vitale 14:35, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Ummm...Thanks for letting a user post other users' talk pages on article discussion pages. Incase you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic. 203.59.53.97 11:17, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
(UI) I'm not arguing with you, except to clarify policy. In fact, I went out of my way to find a policy to support your concerns. Yes, you would be just as able to do it as he is, but you're encouraged to provide a difference as a link, and you're encouraged not to pick and choose certain comments, to change the context. (I fully realize this isn't followed at times, so I won't comment on that, but providing a diff would be appropriate should you decide to take that path.) However, I'd still personally advise that rather than resorting to the "If he can, I should" path, you could just calmly, and kindly, clarify your context, and intent, without getting heated or being sarcastic, as that may be more productive. And naturally, you're most free to completely ignore my advice, I'm just giving it to you because you honestly seem to have the good of the project at heart, and while others may not agree with your views, you still have a right to voice your opinions. Everyone has that right. Ariel♥ Gold 12:14, 27 August 2007 (UTC) Hi ArielThanks for adding some references to the content for Toni Pearen's article. You're doing the right thing. I'd like to add some stuff about her recent engagement and move to Scotland Island, but it will get scrubbed immediately as it always does. I'm sure that if you do some quick research on her you will find some references that will confirm both events. Maybe you could have a crack at it while you're working on the article?

I've read your essay, I agree that the first, level 1 and 2, warnings are too harsh and often provoke an unwanted response, especially from ip addresses belonging to educational establishments who enjoy "provoking" Recent Changes patrols. Ideas: Too often vandalism warnings are dished out in cases where it would be far more useful to assume good faith and attempt to educate them further on the style and policies of wikipedia e.g. welcome and welcome vandal templates, direction to a portal e.g. WP:TRAINS where they can put their knowledge to good use. Whilst looking at recent changes inappropriate usernames are discovered, A section on it would be useful. Whilst you have covered csd, deletion ... and so on, I feel you have neglected the use of the wikify tag and other similar ones if the editor is unable to improve the article. Most importantly apologise! when you have made a mistake that needs to be emphasised throughout the article, there is nothing worse than having a good edit inadvertently reverted. I hope I haven't been too critical, the essay is genuinely useful and when it is finished it will be an excellent guide to recommend on newbies talk pages who start RC Patrolling.

Ohhh no worries that I'll take any of this discussion wrong, in fact I'm so glad to talk to you and I'm learning a lot! Also, if you fix the padding issue on your page, I'll just swap that one out for the one on mine to fix it and keep my colors! That would be awesome if you wanted to do that. (If you don't want to do that, no worries!) Ariel♥ Gold 22:08, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

After all, SallyForth123 is permanently banned from editing Wikipedia. I'm sorry that you continue to be concerned primarily by my thinking your post is what it appears to be rather than being concerned about the words you inappropriately used, without supporting evidence, in the wrong place to attack a defenseless editor. I have, on the other hand, provided supporting evidence for why I see your posts for what I think it was, and will be glad to provide it again, because certainly editing Wikipedia for quality is a waste of everyone's time.

Solved, kind ofOk, fixed that. The long answer is: in the absence of evidence to the contrary, please assume I'm talking out of an inappropriate orifice. A slightly shorter answer is: I got it wrong on the talk page. Should be {{user label..., not {{label.... A second problem is that it tgt doesn't work if it's in the category namespace. I don't know why yet - I'll try to work it out and fix it later today, but in the meantime I've set the target to United States. Jakew 10:09, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Ariel, Indeed I am Sten Odenwald, and I have to apologize for misunderstanding the terms of submitting biographies!
