Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Au4 (band)", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or have the appearance of shared use. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Please understand that if you do not respond to this message and demonstrate that you are not representing an entity other than yourself, you will, unfortunately, be blocked from editing Wikipedia at least until you change usernames, and possibly longer. —  Francophonie&Androphilie( Je vous invite à me parler) 01:36, 3 December 2012 (UTC) reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{ unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{ unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf (talk) 12:32, 3 December 2012 (UTC) reply

I am new to Wikipedia and mistakenly tried to create an article for Au4 (band) on my user page. I would like to change my username to AnaW and move all the content I have created for Au4 (band) to an article page. Please unblock me as I am unable to do anything. Your help and quick turn around would be greatly appreciated.

In general, you should not create articles on your own band due to conflict of interest. If unblocked, what articles do you plan to edit? -- King of 00:35, 6 December 2012 (UTC) reply

Hi there. Au4 is not my band, but I am a family member and I can see that this would be deemed a conflict of interest. If you can unblock my account, I will not proceed with creating the Au4 article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Au4_(band) ( talkcontribs)

OK, I can unblock you. However, AnaW is already taken as a username. Could you choose a different name? Go to Special:ListUsers to check if a particular name is taken. -- King of 05:09, 6 December 2012 (UTC) Hi, can we switch my username to AnaCoyote as it looks like it is not yet taken. A few years back (though I don't recall the username I created) I had made minor edits to a couple of articles as I came across them. I use Wikipedia for reference on almost everything and would like the ability to contribute wherever I may. reply

Just so you know, you forgot to log in for the above comment. Not really a problem, since you're allowed to comment on your talk page anyways while blocked, and an admin's already expressed willingness to unblock you, but if you were to, for instance, test out an edit to see if you were still blocked, not realizing that you were logged out, the edit would go through even if your account is blocked - I doubt this would be a problem, since an administrator would probably ignore the policy against block evasion on the grounds that you're editing in good faith, but the point is, it's best to not edit while logged out when you're blocked, even if to comment on a page you're allowed to comment on, and even when the only thing holding up your unblock is a technicality.
Perhaps more importantly, by editing as an IP you've just revealed your location. If you're uncomfortable with this, you can delete the above edit (and this one too, of course), and ask for your comment and mine to be deleted from view as an an accidental revelation of your real-life identity. (If you'd like to do this, I'd be happy to explain how to do it.) Good luck with your editing career, and I hope to work with you at some time in the future, as soon as you get unblocked. —  Francophonie&Androphilie( Je vous invite à me parler) 20:26, 6 December 2012 (UTC) reply

Hi King of Hearts. Thank you for the update. I have submitted the request to change my username as per your specifications above. Please, could you inform me how to delete the comment that has my IP address attached to it. Thanks!!

I have purged all traces of your IP address. -- King of 22:47, 6 December 2012 (UTC) reply
