Deletion discussion about Climatocredule

Hello, Agefilu,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Climatocredule should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Climatocredule .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thank you for your observation: I have confused French with English.

1 The title of the article should be 'Climate credulous' and not 'Climatocrédule' in the English version; 2 The French version ('Climatocrédule') should be moved to the French part of Wikipedia.

Thank you for your guidance.

Modern estimates of the death toll in the Free State Period vary widely, since (as you say) precise records are no longer available -- since Leopold destroyed them all before turning the Congo over to the Belgian government. However, as referenced in the article, modern estimates, based on many different avenues of research, tend to congregate around 10 million. This is the total mortality, not just the mortality among rubber workers, so your objection that the number is simply ridiculous is baseless. Much of that mortality was due to disease and hunger, which eye-witness testimony indicates was severely exacerbated by the colonial regime and its policies. Stengers is not a trustworthy source; as several later writers point out, he was not a disinterested writer, and later research makes his arguments untenable. -- Elphion ( talk) 20:15, 18 August 2017 (UTC) reply
