The Department of Business Administration(DBA) at Awadesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa (MP) occupies a place of prominence in the realm of professional management education. It was established in the year 1988 and first batch of MBA students was started in January 1989. This institute was recognised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi in the year 1993. Presently, the instituite is offering MBA, BBA and PhD Programmes in Management and is a study centre for PGDMM Programme under distance mode. The DBA holds 4th rank in Management education in Madhya Pradesh after Institute of management Studies (IMS) Indore, International Institute of Professional Studies (IIPS) Indore, C.R. Institute of Management Studies (CRIMS) Bhopal. according to a recent survey by a leading educational website in Madhya Pradesh.

Who we are

This department was established in the year 1988 as a pioneering institute of professional education in the Vindhya Region and the state of Madhya Pradesh. It has been a mile stone in this region in developing the youngsters for the corporate world. It has not only nurtured the aspiring professional of tomorrow but has also provided them excellent career opportunity. The Department had produced several corporate employee having recognition at various industry levels.

Our Mentor

This department was founded by Prof. V. C. Sinha, a renowned economist, who was a true visionary and a committed academician. He had personal involvement in the development of every student and was a friend, philosopher and guide to one and all. It was his value system which had been instrumental in flourishing this temple of knowledge and spreading its fragrance world wide. Professor Sinha has published more than 50 books on Economics and Management and is still a dedicated student of the subject. He is a constant source of inspiration to all his successors.

Currently the department is running BBA, MBA and PhD programmes under the faculty of management studies. It is also a study centre for PGDMM Programme under Distance Mode. Following are the objectives of the department:

Objectives

1.To provide best possible education to the students so as to help them in developing excellent managerial skills.

2.To improve the decision making skills and administrative competence of the budding executives.

3.To provide knowledge through research and to disseminate such knowledge through publication and reports.

4.To understand how to solve a problem through the process of logical thinking.

5.To learn how to work in a group through interpersonal relationship. The value of team work and to work against deadlines.

6.To learn about different types of business organizations the difficulties involved in running the business. The aspects of law, finance, taxation, marketing, risk, evaluation. Etc.

7.The course gives emphasis to project works so that students become organized, learn how to plan in practical terms rather then in terms of theory only.

8.To provide necessary motivation and to make them competitive.

9.To develop a well rounded personality of the students.

List of Head of department

It was the mettle of Prof. V.C. Sinha, a dedicated academician that led to the establishment of this department. His vision concerning the imparting of systematic management education for the would-be managers has been authenticated and testified by the time that has gone by and the products of this department have flourished in the corporate world. The solid foundation laid by him created a solid platform for his successor before he retired in year 2003.


An able predecessor was followed by an equally able successor Dr Atul Pandey, a young and energetic visionary, who has been a meritorious student of this department and has seen it grow through the thick and thin. He carries an enlightened vision for the department and is committed to the quality improvement in the field of management education in the region.


Prof. Rajeev Dubey is the Head of the Department. He has an experience of more than 25 years in the higher education and has been himself a meritorious student. Under his guidance and stewardship, the department is flourishing successfully and achieving new horizons.



Course Offered

MBA

This department is running AICTE approved MBA Programme since January 1989. It is a 2-year (full time) integrated course, in which cosmopolitan students from all disciplines are selected through Madhya Pradesh Management Entrance Test (MET) conducted by Professional Examination Board (PEB), Bhopal (MP) and Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Madhya Pradesh. The entrance test consists of Written Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The application forms are filled on line, generally in January & February months every year. The present approved intake is 60 students. The Course structure is divided into four semesters. First semester emphasises on the foundation of muti-disciplinary approach to management while the second semester focuses on introducing the different specialization areas to the students. Third and fourth semester have integrative papers and elective groups of specialization. The curriculum offers a dual specialization pattern in which Marketing is a compulsory specialization and the Finance, HR & IT are the elective specialisations. So far nineteen batches and more than 1100 students have successfully completed their MBA Course from this department and most of them are well placed in the eminent organisations of national and international repute. Some of them have reached the level of Vice- President, Assistant Vice-President, Group General Manager, National Manager, Regional Manager and the type. Our alumni have made their presence felt not only in corporate world but also in public sector, banking sector and in academics institutions.

BBA

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

We have started Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) a three-year bachelor degree programme in the year 2004. The BBA academic session begins from first week of July with an intake of 120 students. The BBA Programme is run on semester system consisting of six semesters spread over a period of three years. All the papers are compulsory in first to fourth semester. The students are required to choose one of the electives in fifth semester. The specializations available are Marketing, Finance and Human Resource Management. Admissions to the BBA Course are given through stringent process of selection which includes Written Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The Entrance Test is generally conducted in the month of June, every year.

Eligibility for Admission Candidates who fulfill the following requirements will be eligible to apply:

1.Candidate must have secured at least 50% marks in 10+2 examination in any discipline of M.P. Board or of any other board recognized as equivalent.(45% for SC/ST candidates) 2.No person shall be admitted to the course if he/she has already passed BBA or an equivalent examination of any University/Statutory Body. However this restriction shall not be applicable for diploma Holders. 3.A student of BBA Programme pursuing a regular course shall not be permitted to take up any other examination or course or service simultaneously. (However this restriction shall not be applicable to the student of language certificate courses).

PhD

Ordinance No. 30 Doctor of Philosophy

1. A candidate for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy must, at the time of application, hold Master’s degree with at least 55%marks or an equivalent grade of M. Phil. degree of the University/a deemed University or any other University incorporated by any law for the time being in force and recognised by the University.

Provided that a candidate who has atleast 7 years experience of research/teaching with atleast 5papers  published in standard research journal, may be permitted to get registered for Ph. D. degree, even if he does not possess 55% marks at masters degree.

2. A candidate must apply for Registration for Ph. D. degree of his subject on the prescribed form obtainable on payment of prescribed fee, stating:

     (i)  his qualification and experience;
     (ii) subject in which he proposes to work;
     (iii) the field or topic of Research work;
     (iv) name of the Supervisor (along with the name of Co-supervisors, if any) under whom he wishes to work and the place/places at which he/she wishes to carry on investigations together with the consent of the Supervisor and Co-supervisors, if any.

The application must a1so be accompanied with : (a) Registration fee of Rs. 1000/-. (b) A certificate from the Head of the University Teaching Department/School of Studies or the Principal of the college affiliated to the University or Head of a Research Institute recognised for the purpose by the University testifying that adequate facilities exist and stating that the Head of the University Teaching. department/School of Studies or the-Principal or Head of the Research institute will, in case the candidate is permitted, allow the candidate to work in his department or college or institution under the supervision of the persons mentioned in the application. (c) Attested copies of the marksheet/gradesheet of Master’s degree examination and M.Phil. degree examination, eligibility and migration certificates wherever necessary should be enclosed to the application. Introduction

Marketing management is a business discipline focused on the practical application of marketing techniques and the management of a firm's marketing resources and activities. Marketing managers are often responsible for influencing the level, timing, and composition of customer demand in a manner that will achieve the company's objectives. Marketing management therefore encompasses a wide variety of functions and activities, although the marketing department itself may be responsible for only a subset of these. Effective marketing strategies play the key role in the success and growth of any organisation.


Potential Careers

Industry has a great demand of Marketing Managers in today's competitive world. This course will help opening doors of opportunities in a wide range of industries like Banking, Co-operative Credit Organisations, Insurance & Investment Companies, Manufacturing industries, Automotives, Information Technology firms, Pharmaceutical Companies, Telecommunications Companies, Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Companies, all Government and Semi-Government organizations, etc.

Eligibility for Admission

Any Graduate possessing second class or at least 45% marks of any statutory University. The Kulpati, however, may relax eligibility percentage for admission. Structure of the course The course content is distributed over six papers in part-I and as a requirement for part-II, the candidate has to prepare a project report. The students are required to seek prior approval of the project title. A Personal Contact Programme (PCP) of 12 days is conducted during the course and each student is required to put in 75% attendance in the PCP to make him eligible for final examination.

The three-day event is filled with fun and frolic in almost all the fields of professional world. It is an effort to fuse the practical aspects with a lot of knowledge generation. Various aspects of practical skills are being emphasized like decision making, presentation, creative, technical, people oriented, organizational, team-oriented skills etc. The event contain games from different fields like Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Technical, Informal games Dance etc.

Alumni Meet

Alumni Meet is an official regathering of all the alumnus of Department of Business Administration, the alumnus are required to be the part of any batch and course and must have attended the regular classes. The motive behind this official get together is to memories the cherishing days of the Alumnus which are impossible to resume in there busy corporate schedule. Also one of the motive of conducting the alumni meet is to make the people get in touch with each other in the near by future from professional to personal. the prime organizing of the Alumni meet is done by Students of DBA and AROMA.
