Ah, very interesting question O Curious Child. Wiki wiki (pronounced 'wee-kee', rhyming with 'leaky', not 'wi-key' as in 'lea-ky') is a Hawai'ian term which means quick. However, for reasons obvious to the romantic mind, I prefer the alternative Viki-pedia ;-) Sridevi Tolety ( talk) 16:29, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
The article Robinson Crusoe Economy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your
edit summary or on
the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the
proposed deletion process, but other
deletion processes exist. In particular, the
speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and
articles for deletion allows discussion to reach
consensus for deletion. —

Hey Abhilasha!
I read your article and liked it. It's very well written and illustrated with figures.
Keep the good work! |
Few suggestions that I would like to give you:
1. If possible increase the size of thumbnails, coz it breaks the flow of reading(I've to open the image on other window to read the article). I've increased the size of one of the thumbnail/figure in your article, you need to simply replicate that in other figures.
2. Your first image "
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Income_Leisure_Preference_in_a_Robinson_Crusoe_Economy.jpg#file" has lot of whitespace beneath horizontal axis, if possible please remove it and upload a new version of this file.
3. References: Although you have put the references under "References" section, but inside the article it's hard to make out what is referenced from where. One helpful source is @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources Everything else is looking rock solid. Let me know if you need any help.

Hey Abhilasha! Unfortunately you can not nominate your article for DYK, because it's not complying with DYK Guidelines. But we have a good news, we can nominate your article for a Good Article and later on for Featured Article.
Numbers wise:
"Currently, of the 3,730,738 Wikipedia articles, presently 12,743 are categorized as good articles (about 1 in 293), most of which are listed below. An additional 3,374 are listed as featured articles (about 1 in 1,110) and 2,112 as featured lists (about 1 in 1,770). Articles are only included on one list, so when a good article is promoted to featured status, it is removed from the good articles list. Adding good and featured articles and lists gives a total of 18,229 articles (about 1 in 205)"
Regarding Infobox, do you have anything specific in mind, and if you have an example it would help me to locate and provide help.

The Executive Director's Barnstar |
Wow, User:Abhilasha369!, you have a LOT of barnstars for a person who just started editing a few months ago. Congratulations, and here is another one! You are the fourth recipient of the Executive Director’s Barnstar, a barnstar I award occasionally to editors who are making a particularly significant contribution to the Wikimedia movement. (Hisham Mundol told me that I might need to tell you who I am: I’m the Executive Director of the Wikimedia Foundation, which is the San Francisco-based non-profit organization that operates the Wikimedia projects. Part of our job is to support the community of people who write Wikipedia, and to that end we like to celebrate and honour excellence in editing.) You were nominated for this award by User:Hmundol (Hisham), for the two fabulous articles you’ve started on Robinson Crusoe Economy and Ragnar Nurkse's Balanced Growth Theory. Thank you for doing such great work in the Wikipedia India Education Program, and congratulations! If you’d like to nominate anybody else to receive this award, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page. Sue Gardner ( talk) 19:18, 16 September 2011 (UTC) |

Llamas Say Obey.
I am however concerned with the similarities between Robinson Crusoe economies and Closed economies. There are significant differences (i.e. to validate the whole 'notability' issue? Anyway, Good work! And put up that newspaper article reference for lakshman rekha from deletion notices. Purplesky91 ( talk) 17:28, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
You insinuate that I haven't read Robinson Crusoe? Haw. Anyway, point being, Crusoe Economy isn't just an elaborate analogy and has something to offer as a standalone article right? Would hate to see a speedy deletion after all the work that has gone into it. You should think of ways to keep that justified. Will patrol till then. Purplesky91 ( talk) 02:36, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Am drawing blanks on those sort of references myself, hence I pointed it out. Anyway, your rep as contributor is growing exponentially, the article shouldn't draw any controversy. Nice job on the Economic Systems Sidebar! Purplesky91 ( talk) 13:07, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Nothing as of yet, I have a contingency plan that will allow me to gain a couple of hundred thousand characters worth of edits, purely for the marks, I'll implement that right before deadlines whoosh by. Also, question about the sidebar though, purely on instinct it seems a bit odd to me to read ol Rob' Crusoe's economy as a stand-alone economic system. Does it not fall under a pre-existing category? Purplesky91 ( talk) 14:00, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Also, random trivia for the day : When using mspaint or similar software, holding down the 'Shift' key and drawing a line will create perfectly straight lines vertically or horizontally. The lines in your graphs sometimes got crooked :) Purplesky91 ( talk) 14:07, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
I do not intend to make life difficult, but the more uptight editors of teh internetz have not descended upon articles, so I pre-empt. You may want to un-bold the relevant bits you probably took pains to bold out in the Ragnar Nurkse's Balanced Growth Theory because well, this is not an academic reference and there is no need to emphasise those bits. More encyclopedic less academic. Purplesky91 ( talk) 21:06, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Used the /math syntax for some of your formulae on RCE that involved Greek alphabets, because you know, I have a thing for Greek alphabets. Just cross check if they're all okay though, because I just replaced mindlessly, didn't really read anything while doing it. Purplesky91 ( talk) 15:24, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I wanted to review it before but since the last few edits were mine I didn't want to draw any claims of bias. I reviewed it anyway, considering I haven't exactly been cheering you on the whole time and none of my edits went beyond formatting. So here's hoping the review isn't pulled down. Good work on your article. You will notice the bit I've mentioned about the references and the sidebar, both of which I think you should look into. Purplesky91 ( talk) 19:58, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi Abhilasha!
I went through the discussion between you and Jappalang, and I second his thoughts on Copyvio. For [[File:Ragnar Nurkse.gif]] I've added a few lines in the permission section as it was taken from Bank of Estonia's publishing, which is a central bank and hope that it's publications are in public domain.
For [[File:Ragnar Nurkse.jpg]] as Jappalang said it's not "Free" and this is even written on the original image's copyright info, that it's not completely free.
Please don't take it otherwise but having an infobox is also making it redundant, and you might agree with that if you look at this article from a reviewer's perspective.
As of now the whole point of images on this article is make it presentable, but instead of fighting on images can we come up with some more interesting figures etc. like you did in Robinson Crusoe?
I hope you understand.

Hi Abhilasha,
Great going on the Wikipedia economics articles :). Its really nice to see a new awesome young Wikipedian from Pune.
An improvement point - the references must adjoin the punctuation and be separated by a space from the next sentence. This was with reference to the Balanced Growth article, which has since been copy-editted by me and another editor.
Since you are evidently going onto greater things, I recommend careful reading of the WP:MOS and its many pages early in your Wikipedia career. The best way to do that is read a page or two each session before you begin editting.
We also request you to come visit the Pune Wikipedian community. Our next meeting is on October 8th. Details of this later. In the meantime, keep up your great work.

Dear Abhilasha,
Thank you for being a member of WikiProject India. We have a backlog of articles to assess, over 18000 as of today. A "Tag & Assess" contest has been proposed on WikiProject India. I am writing personally to you to request you to please join us in this activity.
Considering, there are as of now at least 50 active Members of WikiProject India. I'm sure there are more, since we have more than 60 subscribers to this list alone, and over 500 names in the WikiProject group. If each of even 50 of us agrees to sit down & assess only 200 articles, over the next month, that is less than eight a day, we can clear 10,000 in one go! That's more than half of the entire backlog!
Its highly doable with the power of numbers! But for that everyone has to volunteer to try. Don't be afraid or shy. We are there to guide you and show you how. I promise you fun, learning and barnstars/awards.
Check out the proposed awards - there is one for every 50 you do!
We will have to begin manually, at first. It is no big deal! It is all cut & paste, hardly any typing.
Later on YuviPanda will be creating a simple to use form in which we will be able to do this assessment semi-automatically i.e.
So what are you waiting for? :) Join us, we are good people, nice & helpful.
We have only six names here as of now -
AshLin, Animeshkulkarni, ansuman, Around The Globe, Anbu121, sarvajna
Please pitch in and help us. Enlist your name here on the India Noticeboard.
Warm regards,

Cheers,

Just in case, will keep looking. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Purplesky91 ( talk • contribs) 11:32, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
