Ashwini Kumar Lal

Ashwini Kumar Lal is a civil engineer-turned astrophysicist who served the Ministries of Urban Development and Statistics & Programme Implementation under the Government of India in different official capacities.

Lal has challenged the widely acclaimed 'Panspermia' theory for the origin of life. In his published paper (1), he has concluded that science remains clueless about the origin of life despite considerable advancements in the fields of molecular biology, astrophysics, and astrobiology. He has also proposed a new hypothesis for gravitation wherein he provides hint of the terrestrial planets being manifestation of the bound state of planetary electromagnetism (3).
