Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, 98.97.36.93. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page GrapheneOS, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Yae4 ( talk) 16:20, 5 August 2022 (UTC) reply

98., I had to tone down your edits for being promotional: Special:Diff/1102579455/1102585596. I'm still not sure I agree with all the references given, and beyond verifiable existence, some of the additions don't really contribute encyclopedic value much. 84.250.14.116 ( talk) 21:01, 5 August 2022 (UTC) reply
84.x: Thanks for the copyedit, I think your rewritten lead-in got lost in the revision process. I would like to word it in such a way to make it clear that the "features" section covers changes from AOSP: but we can play around with it some over at the talk page.
We can discuss the compatibility table there too, but I think it's exactly the kind of information that is fine to be backed by a primary source: and is particularly relevant for an encyclopedia entry. The list of apps too I think are relevant as they've gotten a fair amount of media coverage. 98.97.36.93 ( talk) 21:18, 5 August 2022 (UTC) reply
If the previous selection criteria (lede) and its supporting list items or statements can clearly define differences (perhaps with a comparison point) non-promotionally, then it can be included. Right now it's just a list of items, hardly explaining what is different without going to (primary) citations. Toning it down to "notable features" (hinting at mentions in independent sources) seems appropriate to me in the current state. Re: apps, I reduced repetition. 84.250.14.116 ( talk) 21:25, 5 August 2022 (UTC) reply
I also do want to point you to the insightful advice by Special:Diff/1102546659 by User:Yae4, which I have agreed with: Finding bits of sources to support adding what you want the article to say is not how wikipedia is supposed to go. Aim for citing what good, unbiased reliable sources, instead of many marginal / trivial sources that aim to promote an article's interests. There is no deadline. 84.250.14.116 ( talk) 21:36, 5 August 2022 (UTC) reply
I could rephrase this too: The "features" section and which items it includes/describes should be independent of what the official website of GrapheneOS (primary source) wants to say about itself. 84.250.14.116 ( talk) 22:07, 5 August 2022 (UTC) reply
If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Please do not start an edit war at GrapheneOS. You seem to be familiar with WP:BOLD, so if you get reverted, discuss it first before undoing the editor who undid your edits. Try to at least address all concerns of editors collectively. 84.250.14.116 ( talk) 19:39, 5 August 2022 (UTC) reply

I am not intending to: however, none of the content that I added was supported exclusively by the citations Yae4 mentioned as being unreliable. Thus it was an overzealous reversion. If Yae4 has further concerns that were not brought up in the edit summary, we can start a discussion on the talk page. 98.97.36.93 ( talk) 19:44, 5 August 2022 (UTC) reply
I am additionally concerned that you are carelessly citing sources that do not say what you claim they say. This challenges WP:AGF assumptions. -- Yae4 ( talk) 12:15, 6 August 2022 (UTC) reply
