Dear 24.3.223.215,
When will you please stop to edit the German part of List of common phrases in various languages? I'm a native speaker of German and I can assure you that my corrections are... well, correct. Here are the points you always revert:

  • bitteschön — it's written "bitte schön", 2 single words. Have a look into the Duden.
  • (dahss) — this is your English transcription of the word "das". Why did you write it with double-s? It's redundant.
  • (ENG-lish) — "ANG-lish" is a better choice, since people might be temptet to pronounce "ENG-lish" as "English".
  • (SHPRE-ken) / SHPRE-kha — both plain wrong, as the "sprechen" is pronounced as [ç] in both cases, not as [k] or [χ]; "sh" comes closest.
  • (neekt) — the word "nicht" is pronounced with [ç], not with [k].

Please leave the appropriate transcription (even if it's just a pseudo-English one) to people who actually speak the language. I'll revert your edits now. Have a nice day. — N-true 18:45, 14 March 2006 (UTC) reply
