NSW Aboriginal Land Council

I am seeking to contribute as a newcomer. Aboriginal Australians, first nations peoples, are extremely under-represented here and elsewhere in society, for reasons, in Australia, that result from invasion, colonisation and cultural genocide. While I may have not fully contributed within the guidelines, I am happy to rectify as I become more competent. It is very unhelpful to merely undo those changes, and feels like a continuation of the cultural erasure that has happened here for over 200 years. The material was sourced - including by reference to the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (NSW). It was also sourced to the NSWALC website, which is the source for previous material that is allowed to stand on the page. I see that there may be an issue with the use of italics, but using that to revert back everything is overkill and frankly, hurtful and discouraging. In terms of the correction of LALC to LALCs - there is no source for the original, inaccurate usage. I work full-time in this area and use LALC and LALCs in speech easily over 100 times per day. LALCs is the proper use for the plural, LALC is the singular. Similarly, they are referred to as Land Council/s in everyday context - as Aboriginal people understand that this is a reference to their, or another LALC.

2ndCityPeople, although you aren't a new editor, you do not seem to have much experience with Wikipedia. As I edit via a very changing mobile network, I'm too difficult for you to keep in touch with for me to help you learn. There's a question and answer forum to help inexperienced editors at WP:TEA. Also, please sign messages by typing four tildes at the end. (~~~~). I'm sorry, but nothing that you know, have personally observed or been told; nothing that you've induced, deduced or concluded; nor any personal attitudes or opinions can be part of a contribution to Wikipedia. See Wikipedia's pillar policies. Content added to Wikipedia articles must be paraphrased from reliable secondary sources. What the subject of the article has to say about itself is for the most part irrelevant. Wikipedia is not for advocacy, whether motivated by profit or by altruism. If you are connected to the subject of the article, which you appear to be saying you are, your editing privileges on that particular article are restricted by policy. See WP:COI and/or WP:PAID. I won't be at this talk page any longer. My internet provider changes it every time I shut my computer off. Good luck. 174.254.194.134 ( talk) 07:51, 13 March 2021 (UTC) reply
