I am seeking to contribute as a newcomer. Aboriginal Australians, first nations peoples, are extremely under-represented here and elsewhere in society, for reasons, in Australia, that result from invasion, colonisation and cultural genocide. While I may have not fully contributed within the guidelines, I am happy to rectify as I become more competent. It is very unhelpful to merely undo those changes, and feels like a continuation of the cultural erasure that has happened here for over 200 years. The material was sourced - including by reference to the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (NSW). It was also sourced to the NSWALC website, which is the source for previous material that is allowed to stand on the page. I see that there may be an issue with the use of italics, but using that to revert back everything is overkill and frankly, hurtful and discouraging. In terms of the correction of LALC to LALCs - there is no source for the original, inaccurate usage. I work full-time in this area and use LALC and LALCs in speech easily over 100 times per day. LALCs is the proper use for the plural, LALC is the singular. Similarly, they are referred to as Land Council/s in everyday context - as Aboriginal people understand that this is a reference to their, or another LALC.
