The 2015 New York poisoned turkey incident was an outbreak of foodborne illness in New York from turkey meat that began in November 2015, during a week before Thanksgiving Day. People suffered from foodborne illness.

Context

Poisoned turkey meat was supplied to supermarkets of New York by “Koch’s Turkey Farm”. Koch's was one of the first in the United States to grow antibiotic-free turkeys with an all vegetarian diet. Farm raises over 800,000 turkeys annually. [1] However, there were about 200 registered cases of food poisoning, caused by products of “Koch’s Turkey Farm,” that occured during a week before Thanksgiving Day. People exhibited the same symptoms of food poisoning.

Symptoms, outbreak and treatment

About 200 patients were admitted to hospitals of New York with symptoms of food, including the abrupt onset of nausea and vomiting, fever heat, abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc.
