A little about who I am:
♦ Journalism student at
Carleton University, and a regular contributor to community newspapers.
♦ Guitarist, songwriter (acoustic)
♦ CANADIAN (I currently reside in Ottawa but was born in the Greater Toronto Area.
♦ Avid follower and observer of the Canadian alternative music scene.
♦ Musicology - particularly on the subject of modern and mid-20th-century Canadian popular music.
♦ Journalism and its history - This is my major, and I am thoroughly knowledgeable and well-read on the subject.
♦ North American Civil Rights and the Government - I have done major research on the situation of on-reserve Natives in Canada from 1969 to the present. I also have an interest in African American civil rights and am knowledgeable on the life and accomplishments of George Washington Carver.
♦ Culture and government intervention - I have done extensive research on the Canadian Radio/Television and Telecommunications Commission, and am deeply interested in the consequences of government intervention within mass media and cultural output, particularly content regulations and their effect on the music industry.
