Hi! I am Susam Pal. I am an information security architect by profession and an open-source software developer by hobby. I am an occasional contributor to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. This is my user page. The following sections describe my infrequent contributions to Wikipedia and other metadata about my presence on this website.

This section documents my contributions to Wikipedia.

WikiProject COVID-19 contributions

As a member of the Case Count Task Force under WikiProject COVID-19, I contributed to the following documents between April 2020 and April 2021:

• Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/India medical cases chart
• Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/India medical cases by state and union territory
• Statistics of the COVID-19 pandemic in India

These documents display charts and graphs in the main article titled COVID-19 pandemic in India. My contribution objectives were:

• Remove any inconsistencies in the data.
• Ensure all data is obtained from official government sources only.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts to generate Wikipedia markup to update the data in these templates.
• Keep the data in these templates accurate and up-to-date.

I got involved in this project when I noticed inconsistencies in the data used in these templates which affected the computation of the growth percent in the number of cases. Troubled by these inconsistencies, I created my own project at https://indiacovid19.github.io/ that archived the official case numbers with references to archived snapshots of the MoHFW website and the PIB releases. These references prove the accuracy of the data. Once this project became stable enough, I began a discussion on one of the talk pages to contribute the data from my project to these Wikipedia templates in order to make the charts and graphs appearing in the main article accurate.
