I have a specialist interest in the educational history of the United Kingdom, and England & Wales in particular.

I am particularly interested in primary historical sources; government inquiries into education and their reports, which contain a wealth of often untapped historical information

I would like to create or expand the Wikipedia pages for these inquiries. These Wikipedia pages are quite specialist and likely to be used by students studying history rather than the general public so are unlikely to generate a substantial number of visits.

The Wikipedia pages for historical government inquiries should give students just enough of an overview, that they can quickly decide whether they need to actually read the reports for their studies.

For Inquiry specific Wikipedia pages, there will always be a common set of information: -

INQUIRY

  • Why the Inquiry was carried out - Background
  • What the Inquiry looked into - the Terms of Reference
  • Who carried out the Inquiry - Membership
  • How the Inquiry was carried out - Methods

REPORT

  • The structure & organisation of the Report
  • Findings of the Inquiry
  • Recommendations of the Inquiry
  • Outcomes from the reports

I have produced the following general Wikipedia page: -

Central Advisory Councils for Education

Reports on the Education of the Lower Orders
