The Horrible Crowes

The Horrible Crowes is a duo consisting of Brian Fallon lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist from the band Gaslight Anthem and Ian Perkins, who has worked as a guitar technician for the Gaslight Anthem, although from 2010 he has notably, assisted the band as a touring guitarist. The Horrible Crowes, despite publicly describing themselves as a duo, the band play with a larger band, featuring members of the Gaslight Anthem; including Alex Rosamilia for the additional dynamics of the songs, as well as violinists and accordionists. Brian Fallon has described the project as "The darker side of soul" and draws heavily from the frontman's influences, namely Tom Waits. The duo's first album 'Elsie' was released on September 6th 2011 and features 12 tracks, experimenting with acoustic/electric approaches and the symphonic sounds of classical instruments. 'The Horrible Crowes' was formed after discussions between Brian Fallon and Ian Perkins, following Gaslight Anthem concerts, in which Brian's relaxation period would consist of Ian and himself sitting in a room or the back of a tour bus together showing one another records that they liked, these discussions lead to the concept of making a record with one another. The name however, originates from an old Scottish poem vernacularly called "The Twa Corbies", or 'The Two Ravens', which Brian had read, and was influenced by the metaphorical and spiritual significance of the poem.
