Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (23 August 1978) is a Ghanaian born British actor. He is best known for theatrical roles at the National Theatre, including Death and the King's Horsemen and Kilburn's Tricycle Theatre, including August Wilson's Walk Hard, Talk Loud. He has also appeared in numerous television productions including the BBC comedy, Taking the Flak and Channel 4's Star Stories

Early life

Kobna Holdbrook-Smith was born in Ghana and moved to the UK with his family at the age of 9. He has one brother, Kofi. He was brought up in the small town of Frimley in Surrey and attended Guildford School of Acting before moving to London to pursue a career in television and theatre.

Career

Holdbrook-Smith has enjoyed an illustrious stage career, treading the boards of world renowned theatres including London's National Theatre, Royal Court and the Young Vic. Guardian theatre critic, Michael Billington, referred to Holdbrook-Smith's performance in the Young Vic's Joe Turner's Come and Gone as "outstanding"
