Psychopathy Red is a song by American thrash metal band Slayer, and is the first single from their 2009 album World Painted Blood. It was released as a seven-inch single on April 18, 2009. [1] The single was released for the 3rd annual Record Store Day, and was limited to only 5,000 copies. [2] [3]
In October 2008, after the successful release of 2006's Christ Illusion, the band headed back into the studio to record 3 songs for the followup album. Among these was "Psychopathy Red" Later that same month, a non-CD quality version song was leaked, and was available for online streaming. Several videos were also posted online showing band in-studio recording the song. [4]
The song is about Andrei Chikatilo, [4] [2] [1] a Soviet serial killer, rapist and, pedophile who claimed 53 victims from 1981 to 1990 when he was arrested. [5]
