George Alexander Arbuthnot ( 15 June, 1830- 1899) was a British cavalry officer and Major General who served in the Madras Light Cavalry in India. [1] The eldest son of General George Bingham Arbuthnot, he served in the 8th Reg. Madras Light Cavalry during the Indian Mutiny and was later acting Second Assistant Adjutant General [2] and commander of the 3rd Madras Cavalry.
